Oh right! Yes, I can see how I misread that...
I got me the first time too
-
Come on then Inti what should we be listening to and striving for, this is your moment to enlighten us
-
I think he meant 4x10" 6x10" 8x10" speakers not 4 or 6 inch drivers I still dont like 'em laughable or not
-
Panic over that is what I play I'm sure I have a version where the run is even busier for the last run? but if its good enough for Jake I am more than happy! as ever thanks Jake Bloomin' ledger lines, that really is the dusty end D#
-
Thats the bit I have never really got around too I think it was off your site that I printed it from (thanks), I learnt the easier run from the first couple of times and left it at that I shall return..........
Are you shure about this or does envy and lack of humbleness come from the other side? I certainly have issues with this but it has to do with a strong sence of justice so stop talking about papers cause nobody cares except those who lack diplomas. The main point is that putting Anthony Jackson and John entwinstle in the same bag simply isn't fair. But this society makes you believe it is... For money's sake.
In fairness you know nothing about me or my skill level, trust me I am not envious of you, I dont even know who you are
laughable post.... can't begin to...well, I can't stop laughing....
Whats laughable? I dont like 10's either, I used to be all about 15's but I have come to a happy medium of 12's (like a lot of folk), I bet the 12's of today are better than the 15's of 25 years ago anyway? You get a bit of that trouser flap that a 15 or more gives but with that snappier attack when required that 10's give. Now I know Mr F and Alex etc will be along to tell us thats all nonsense and they have some drawing to prove it but as bass players we all hear what we hear and for me and many others the bigger the speaker the bigger the bottom end! 8x10's for me sound like 8 10's never like one big speaker as suggested elsewhere
I doubt he was better than you technically if the others prefer you. The only way to know would have been to make the both of you play the same line. Plus that technique without a brain is pretty useless anyway...
Why? , I have been in similar situations where the rest of the band preffered my simpler style over people who were both more technical and up on their theory etc.
There's absolutely no problem in wanting to be an entertainer. The irritating moment begins when the clown not only fools himself but tries to convince others of his artistic integrity.
You appear to have a personal issue with this looking at this thread and your other, as if you have some bits of paper with grades on and everyone else is an imposter or something, I am sure there is more to this?
-
Nobody and that's partly the problem. Hence gangnam style is the most played tune on the radio right now.
I'm not keen on crap like that but I have found the off switch I dont see him demanding we like gangnam style anyway?
-
But if someone is creating something new who decides if its right or not?
-
The questioning is not technique related although a proper technique will always be needed to the style you intend to play. Even punk or nirvana. Maybe the real question is: is it possible to be regarded as better than somebody else in music? Is everything subjective? And if not what would be a correct way to measure someones level? The amount of control of the instrument is the only parameter that comes to mind....all the others are a matter of taste. It's a hard question.
Who decides who has the correct amount of control of the instrument? I am a novice upright player and already hit two correct ways to play it according to the experts, neither are how the rockabilly guys play so thats three methods to argue about to start with, close your eyes and see if you enjoy the music, if not turn it off, if you do seek out some more from the same artist that system has worked for 100's of years
-
This was one song where even my novice reading skills helped! It is one of those songs where there are numerous versions with some being more 'jazzy' than others at the end, I have condensed my live version to playing the same run for the turnaround everytime as the full written version blows me away I build the chorus up a bit more each time though and I have seen people get away with a simpler version than mine and people make a much better fist of it than me! I struggle with the riff coming back down more than going up too

I like this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9-PbqoBA2k and I like this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvwqSMRtoSI Is one better than the other because one is more technical than the other?
-
Well, I've just finished reading this entire thread, and one thing has become clear to me. There ain't half some twats on this forum!
stfu
Hydrive 112 should do the job in most small to medium sized situations.
I love my Genx 1x12T cab and it will do most gigs but if the OP is looking to shed a 2x10 and a 1x15 without feeling like he has lost out a single 1x12 wont cut the mustard IMO? 2 of them maybe but thats not a one cab solution is it
-
I suspect you are mixing up what you have heard about the much cheaper MBE series cabs (which are clearly made down to a price) with the much higher quality neo cabs. You will struggle to find much bad written about these GK neo cabs, as most owners simply seem very happy, and I can attest to this. it' a little unfair to put down something you have no experience of, and have not tried to find out a balanced online experience of.
Thats fair enough I have indeed mixed it up with the cheapo one which does have issues (many on this forum over the last few months), fwiw I have tried GK gear inc the 2x12 and for me the 4 ohms, taller cabinet, front porting and rubber castors still swayed me anyway, in its defence again the Genz is much more expensive still at an extra £300.
-
Hard to disagree with this.
Its easy to disagree with, you do the gig but with duck tape over the logo or even scratch the Fender logo off, anyone ever heard of Stuart Zender? That has been around for many years before he did it afaik, amps with the badges removed is common too.
-
Janek Gwizdala?....*giggles* I played for a living more than ten years of my life so I know what Iam talking about. I left that stinky world voluntary, as a student you're getting into it now so it's hard for me to make my point clear due to the differences in experience but thanks anyway.
Lets hear who you are then bigshot? *giggles*
-
Agreed. 210 not loud enough. Anyone tried the genz NEOX NX2 212T?.
Yep and it should match your 2x10 and 1x15 imo, equal to any 4x10 and better than many I have used, no idea what the barefaced are like but I'd be surprised if the gk was even close, I know they have some build quality issues too but then again a neox is £800.
-
Just caught some top of the pops, boring array of retro fenders mostly sb and tort or olly white, I like them but its stuff like this that will make them unpopular again IMO, don't panic though because they will come back around again and again!
-
IME they often make subtle differences just so the models dont tread on each others toes! My Genz 3.0 is all FET but the 6.0 has a Valve preamp, someone who wants the valve will plump for the more expensive one, someone who wants an amp bigger than 300 watt but solidstate rather than the valve preamp (and there are plenty of people out there who do regardless of what the experts tell me is enough) will have to go up to a Max series head to get that feature, I know all this to be true because I did just that, went for the 6.0 as my main head, bought a 3.0 as a spare/practice room head, preferred the sound of the 3.0 and bought a 9.2 Max twin channel head to essentially get the preamp of the 3.0 but with the power stage from a 900w shuttle Most things are marketed like this, cars manufacturers being the experts!
-
OK modifications almost all done Stripped all the old poor shielding out Put just the piezos in the slots and shielded the whole cavity inc the back plate Ran the power cables one side and the jack cable up the other the shielded the lot, you cant see behind the controls but its all done the same Wrapped the endpin in the foam that the bass came in and spun sellotape over it to keep it tight Used a chunk of the packing foam to make a mute, this is the most important and easiest mod IMO Even with my amp on full its as quiet as a church mouse Already filed all the nut slots and the bridge a little bit on the E string, new strings are going on at some point and it will be perfect, can't really see the need to upgrade to anything else at the moment? Better get back to playing it now
Can't go wrong!
Thats sorted then thanks
I've got one of these, and good players who have tried it say it's excellent for the money. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item230f4fd170 Posted from China, but arrived very quickly. You might want to check out Rabbath's Art of the Bow video, if you can get it. Very helpful (although I can't imagine what t would take to get me bowing reliably. )
Thats very pretty!
Yeh they are good those bows for the money.... But if you have the money get a Claude Marchand
Maybe once I can use it I will upgrade to something better

I can usually spot the troll that is pointing out to his mate that you are not playing the B string, I always make sure I play some nice bits on in while they are looking, plectrum trolls are out there two always nice to play 8 songs with a pick while the troll tells his (uninterested) mates that you are a pick player and he is a proper player as he only uses fingers then put the pick away for the last few songs and chuck a bit of slap in two!
