1. So you could of said
You do know it will be useless afterwards right? All I will say is make sure you remove any old finish and prime it.then coat it with clear epoxy afterwards
?
2. sh*t and thomann have sold over a 1000 of them!
3. Better send my painted board eub back then
4. Check out ebs freaks white gb with blue leds in the white bass porn, useless you say letts? nah
5. Pardon In all seriousness that's good news and a lesson to us all, no one in my age group wore ear plugs when we started in the 90's and I bet we will all pay for it! Do the youth of today wear them or is it uncool? Docs pro plugs all the way I say
6. No problem John I get your point slightly, a pro setup (often worse than my own effort) and a set of new rotosounds (which I hate) is not a modded bass, but my £150 affinity jazz has £400 worth of ad ons even if sold the bits at half price which would be like watching piranhas at work if I listed them on here at that trust me, that's £200 plus the jazz with the stock parts and the rolled frets I can't sell for say £90? Offers of half the cost of the stock bass at £75 would not be concidered that said I would not be offended as some people say they are
7.
Yeah, I think I know what you're talking about there. An upgraded Squier is still a Squier. If you want to pay top dollar, fill your boots, but not for me. It's still a Squier - just like the one in my Avatar, of which I'm still fond. But S/H is usually less than new, you'd think. Regardless of upgrades.
That's nonsense, the parts on my squier would sell second hand for the price of a standard squier bass alone, there are plenty of people who would pay what you are calling over the odds only to part it all out on ebay a week later and sell the bass as standard again.
8. I always thought it was "Endorsed By Slappers"?
9. Dont worry I will start a "what strings do you use" thread once I get to that stage! Are those threads as volatile here as they are in general chat? I have had my cast removed, massive plate under my fore arm with 1 1/4 screws everywhere! So far so good though hopefully by the time the EUB arrives it will have a bit of strength back, I have had my thomann posted email too so here is hoping for friday maybe even thursday depending on christmas post etc
10. Yep I have had it the other way round many more times, I have lusted over Rickys many times until I play one, same as T birds Im happy the Staus is working out though
11. Happy birthday and heres to hoping this does the trick!
12. If you fancy a 5 I would go straight in TBH, I wish i had started on one. Sure it might not be up to some of the standards people here are after but for a beginner the Yamaha or Ibbys are plenty good enough IMO, should be able to get a good used 5er and an amp for 500 euros IMO
13.
Best to make sure you dont overdo it at first, if you're not used to the scale length you might be getting a few aches and pains.
Good point, little sessions at a time I'm thinking.
14.
Very good
Couldn't resist They have gone from the easiest to the hardest to understand in a decade, what's the boss called again? Oh yeah Sterling!
15. I certainly hope so, I just don't want to transfer all my bad habits from elec bass to upright!
16. I can't imagine the bow will be a priority once it arrives to be honest, I'm going to try to do a half hour practice every week night and a few sessions a day at weekends, bit of open ended question but what's a realistic time scale before I could do a song or two in a covers band do you think?
17. Carbon it will be then! Can't wait to get started now, I have been tapping out rhythms to try and do what I can before it arrives.
18. Well that could be tricky then keep an eye on pmt's stock, that's where my blue one came from.
19. Almost every bass I have played made in the far east I have preferred to every real Ricky anyway!
20.
Well I say that, but what I really mean is 'I've not seen any in the shops that I regularly visit'. If anyone knows of any stockists of Musicman basses in Birmingham then please let me know.
Just had a look and they are not as easily available as they were are they? PMT have none at all in any stores and Guitar Guitar have one black one but I can't see which store it is at? I'm not far away (25 miles from B'ham) if you wanted to try mine, as you can see I have both a ceramic 2007 and an Alnico new spec one 2010
21. Mine has arrived off ebay now, cant complain at £45 inc the postage. I think I am glad I went for the big one now too, its very stable when tuning too
22. I'm not familiar with it but I will give it a go, love cats is the first song to learn as its in our set and obviuosly the one to impress friends with
