How many people on this site alone have a genz streamliner 900 and a single neox 2x12T for a start? I'm not a massive fender fan nor an ebmm fan boy but tbf to sterling ball he has added some features that maybe Leo would of over time and with extra funding ie contoured bodies, 6 bolt neck, wheel of fortune truss rod adjustment (best invention in the past 30 years on a bass?) Flip out battery box etc yet most people say they can't tell the difference from early pre eb versions which is good as it shows a steady improvement, what have fender done? Reissues all with the same niggles and a high mass bridge which 12 threads each 7 pages long tell us does nothing anyway The Fender fans will tell us it's because the p and j are perfect and always were but it's why people often site the ray as a more solid and pro feeling bass

As much as fender fans would deny it obviously Leo knew what niggles needed getting rid of when he designed it so things like the bit of scratchplate that always snaps off p basses was addressed right away with a big chunk of chrome that's going no where for example.

The only argument with the supply and demand idea is that because more people wanted them in the first place than other brands then as long as that trend continues thenough they will stay popular gas items used too, that's why there are even more fenders which must be over saturated in the market place ten times over compared to rays but as they are probably on most people's wanted list from their first bass lesson it levels out. Gibson basses to me appear less desirable by and large and although there are less of them available there are less folk with their wallets out for them too which keeps the values down. Supply and demand again I guess so it really depends just like we said about sandberg who is in the limelight over the next few years.

Well if your work colleueges are the rest of the band it's a bit tricky to hide! As for my other job lots of them have been to see me play or even booked various bands I have been in for their own events etc

Just bagged one off eBay for £40!

Trouble is that's loads of confusing models, for many many years musician had only a handful of models with the stingray being popular from the off and no squier, Mexican, skyline, budget versions available which cemented them just like the fender p and j as proper basses that were identical to the ones we saw on the tv, someone probably as famous as me owns the stingray made one serial number either side of fleas bssm era bass for example, sandberg are probably too accommodating to get a known model firmly set in people's minds

I was going to start a thread about the big one as I'm about to get one, nearly went for the mini until I realised (was told) it only works off a power supply! Looks like everyone is happy with their big ones though? If so Santa best pop one in his sack!

I haven't tried any uber cabs but I've never heard a bad comment about them. Anyone else got any pics then?

It's surprising how many boutique bass users have come back though, I have started to notice a few ray 5s in the places all the fancy brands had a hold in, big shows and big profile session gigs, not so much 4s but I think the 5 is here to stay in those circles.

I always pay cash on collection regardless (almost) as to the distance, ask Anthomp who lives 150 miles away from me if I put the cash in his hand at 8.30am one sunday morning for a bass for example, missus went mad at the 5am start then enjoyed a day out together in the end! So point being if someone is selling a £1000-2000 bass for a fixed price as so many of you say, would you not be prepared to wave even £20 for losing the hassle of packing/postage and any risks along the way, plus the ready cash in your hand? sure Im not saying knock 50% off but an offer of say £675 on a £700 listing cash in your hand must be worth it?
