1.
Personally I feel it a sign of the times. Nothing seems to be fetching prices they could have fetched a year or so ago. Although the Stingrays have fluctuated between 600-900£ in the last 2 or so years. Also the warwick joke is a bit poor, I know that the double $ corvettes don't seem to be fetching a great deal, but until bolt on thumb 4's are under £600 used then Ithink a lot of the Warwick stuff is advertised at greater prices than EBMM. Sandberg's California series seem to hold their value at the minute.
Fixed
 2. It's surprising how many boutique bass users have come back though, I have started to notice a few ray 5s in the places all the fancy brands had a hold in, big shows and big profile session gigs, not so much 4s but I think the 5 is here to stay in those circles.
 3.
Surely that can be fixed by scraping the coating off at the ball-end?
I have seen them do that on the tv programme embarrassing bodies, dose of the clap
 4. And bonfire nights only just gone, typical
 5. I always pay cash on collection regardless (almost) as to the distance, ask Anthomp who lives 150 miles away from me if I put the cash in his hand at 8.30am one sunday morning for a bass for example, missus went mad at the 5am start then enjoyed a day out together in the end! So point being if someone is selling a £1000-2000 bass for a fixed price as so many of you say, would you not be prepared to wave even £20 for losing the hassle of packing/postage and any risks along the way, plus the ready cash in your hand? sure Im not saying knock 50% off but an offer of say £675 on a £700 listing cash in your hand must be worth it?
 6. So why did you ring him then if it was a grand more?
 7.
To me an item is only worth what some one will buy it for. To some that's less and to others it's more. deal with it.
This is exactly it and my point to Jimbob, it was only a grand more than what he wanted to pay for it, not a grand more than the market value nicely proven by the next bloke who bought it! Then begins the next phase of paying well over what others regard as market value for something just to prove you have the cash to spare to do such things, as we have seen most people actually did not really have the cash and now have credit cards and loans coming out of their ears and the country is to put it politely "f***ed!"
 8.
Word. I offered a little over market price for a car that was advertised about a grand too expensive. The seller freaked out, accused me of insulting him, betraying him (?) and then emailed me later to tell me that he had sold the car at his asking price and without some of the extras he had offered me. Then, to make it all the more amusing, he contacted me a couple of weeks later to offer me another car he had bought on the cheap. And he wanted too much.
So he was right then? Agreed his is still a dick but you can see my point
 9.
It'd work, but whether it'd be any good or not is another matter and you'd still have to get the crossover. If you're going down that route, may as well add in a cheap tweeter. Cheapest way to do it would be a piezo and then you can use a very rudimentary high-pass crossover or even none at all. Total cost not more than a tenner
I added one of these to an Ashdown 1x10 combo cab http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f1b4bc5c6 with an eminence adjustable crossover like this http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1e66c96004 It worked well but for the money you could just get a decent used cab that would pair up nice with that TC head A quick search reveals this http://basschat.co.uk/topic/165131-trace-elliot-2x10-cab/
 10. See how it sounds with the combo added for now then, I would not bother modding your cab, I have tried with varying degrees of success.
 11. What head are you using? Like suggested above try a line out into the combo input and set the EQ for the top end only. Failing that grab a cheap second hand cab maybe a 2x10 or similar.
 12. Ive seen 30th anniversaries go for £800 odd recently, not long ago they were £1200 used.
 13.
Difficult one, the buyer generally wants to pay the minimum, seller wants to get the best they can. If I think somebody is asking too much I just will not even contact them so they could well lose out on a sale. The one that has been really bugging me this year is the start price on Marcus Millers. "2002/3/4/" Marcus Miller, now costs £1076, £750 plus postage please" It didn't cost £1076 in 2003, and they bought it 2nd hand for £450 in 2009, not that that is admitted. A week later they are bleating because there is not interest. Yet if you offered them a more realistic £600, you are a lowballer!
Where do you draw the line though? How much was my '79 Ray new, How much was a '51 P bass new? should they only be sold for those prices forever? Its worth what its worth so it will either hang around or sell to someone else for near the asking price which is their good fortune IMO
 14.
I did wonder if the introduction of the Sterling range has had an effect on second hand prices?
I dont know, I would'nt of thought so really. I cant see why anyone would bother with any of the others now the USA ones are so cheap?
 15.
I've seen a couple of PreEB rays go for 700 quid in NZ. Simply due to a lack of demand. My mate bagged one. There was a Kubicki Ex Factor for sale for $1100 last week. If I wasn't having to cough up for tradespeople, I'd be stockpiling...
How much is shipping from NZ?
Pete...I'll give you £500 for your natural Pre EB It's a really nice bass
I will drop it off Paul
 16.
My experience, ltd models will fetch less than half what you paid for them when you try to sell them.
Fixed
 17. Not many sub 9lb 5's about especially with four cans of spray paint emptied on them! Would make a nice bass in the right hands, new scratchplates are only £18, strip the rest back and just stain it
 18. Its just the Limited Edition Sledge one, I think they are doing a Ray too? Sledge as in Hammer as in Tony Levin and Peter Gabriel.
 19. This looks appropriate for this thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/193475-2006-musicman-stingray-5-piezo-tatty-l500/
 20. Some people should not be allowed hand tools or cans of paint! Jeez I will add some foot traffic to this thread by linking it to the what devalues a bass thread though, It will make a nice bass in the right hands.
 21.
Until the next MM comes up and you need to use the hanger!
Already got one, I keep a spare hanger on the shelf ready at all times! I can actually make room for two more once I have moved them all up a bit but that will require decorating
