1.
So, we have a wall outlet protected by a 30/32A device in the consumer unit, which provides the correct protection for the ring main wiring. We then have a 13A mains lead plugged into that wall outlet, which is correctly protected by a 13A fuse in the mains plug. We then have an amplifier (in this case) connected to the 13A mains lead, which is protected by the appropriate fuse on the amp itself.
This is essentially what the Regs book states throughout, if it were an exam you would get an A* A fuse and means of isolation at any point where the circuit either divides or reduces in conductor size is the basic jist of it.
 2.
Find out who you need to speak to first before going in and asking/ringing. "Can I speak to Dave/Susan/Kev please" sounds better than "Who is it that books the bands here?". That way you shouldn't be fobbed off with "they're busy/on the phone/we're fully booked" before you have even spoken to them. Dan
Good point which sort of links to my earlier post, ask other bands who you need to talk to at certain venues
 3. Here you go then clever clogs The fuses at the distribution board for the radial circuits in the EU will be a minimum of 16A possibly 20A so what difference will a 13A fuse here make? If it was covered by an BS60898 MCB or even an BS61009 RCBO even of 32A there is a good chance it will blow before a 13A BS1362 fuse anyway especially if the trip is a B type or type 2 BS3871 MCB. If it was so dangerous the lead would not be removable as has been said before, the fuse covers the piece of cable which is usually no less than 1.5mm flex rated at approx 18A (or 1.0mm HR/similar rated higher than single core 1.0mm) hence the max 13A fuse which is the biggest available for a plugtop. FWIW all three of the leads that came supplied with my Genz Benz amps state 13A on the fuse carrier/plug molding and have 13A fuses installed from the supplier so I think I would have more chance of sueing them that a member of BC if it were the case
 4. Befriend as many other bands as possible along the way, we get lots of gigs from other bands that have either had to cancel themselves or been asked by the venue if they know of another band as someone else has dropped out
 5.
I treated myself to a pointless blue one... Garry
Yep I tried the gravatar thing this morning, crap ain't it?! Gave up and opened a photobucket account instead after it would not let me crop the image and nothing on basschat wants to upload any other way!
 6.
Yes - I'm allowing myself to post in General Discussion, but not Off Topic.
This is my new strategy also, working well so far. I don't even peek in there!
 7. Pictures? Pot codes neck and body dates? Thanks
 8.
Taking it out of the shop
Not if you forget to pay
 9. I think the Genz GBE heads run down to 2 ohms, two of them and a second hand gbe 750 would make for tasty rig for the money!
 10. No pictures meens no bass, lets see it! I have gassed over a duck egg blue one for a while, all EBS_freaks fault naturally!
 11. I know its crap aint it? I have reluctantly opened a photobucket account and even worked out how to get the images to open before your very eyes!
 12.
Woop! Sale event now on!
Your Harsh! will there be baloons?
 13. How can there be differences in my post where I copied and pasted? Robots are taking over I am telling you!

 15. I nearly traded my old teal stingray for one a while ago on here, I fell in love with the look as it was the blue bowling ball finish but unfortunately in the flesh as is apparantly quite common the finish was all coming away The emg's did not put me off just the condition, yours looks good
 16.
I hope you're plannign on acquiring enough cabs to hook that lot up to!
3.0 has a 1x10 it lives with 6.0 has a 1x12 it lives with 9.2 has a 2x12 it lives with Only the 1x10 is not Genz Benz but I think it would be too fan boy to swap it?
 17. If ebmm starting doing full gloss necks I would be the first person not to buy one, I imagine musician 20 would be close behind me and he buys enough for that to close the company down! The finish of the board and the quality of the timber will need to be spot on to only oil it and it will still be hand buffed after anyway, try oiling a piece of timber you think is smooth and I bet it will come up as rough as feck after.
 18. A dab of super glue will do fine plus it's clear, as a classic car tinkerer I can tell you many proper loctites are blue and will make a mess, even hard to wipe of chrome parts as it has an oily film to it until set.
 19.
Yes, but if taking a neck off and replacing it changes the sound just as much as taking a neck off and putting a different one on then your test is 100% pointless. Unless you have a baseline for your test then you can't make a comparison.
see my last post
 20.
Yes, but since the point of the video is to show us the supposed difference between the two fingerboard woods how do we know that the audio hasn't been tweaked somewhere in the production process?
We don't so it's best to ignore the whole thing and choose the bass you like the look and feel of best
 21.
Hi StingrayPete1977 and Musicman20. Thank you so much for that comprehensive breakdown, I really do appreciate it. I am looking for more of that attack / bite and it seems that the Sterling may be the way to go therefore. The string spacing is quite important to me and 17.5mm is the minimum I would use so, all good there. I think the obvious thing to do is go and try some but finding them around Cardiff is harder than you think. I've seen so many great examples here on BC and other sites. Is there a particular era of MM to avoid and of course, one era that is better in your opinion. Thanks again, a huge help
Nothing to avoid but like I said if you can find a second hand one, pre 07 it will have the ceramic pickup that gives the same bite as the sterling so you can have your cake and eat it if you find that you like the Stingray more to look at or play but prefer the sound of the Sterling. Also if it's being sold as new make sure it is unless there is a big discount off it, you don't want to settle for a new alnico model only to find it's been hanging in the shop for 5 years! Easiest way to tell is the battery box up by the horn and the switch is horizontal when playing not sloping down, there are a few hybrids like mine that fall between the two with the new bits and old pickup though probably 05-07 era
 22.
Even the former isn't necessarily very rigorous science. Does taking a neck off, then putting it straight back on again make it sound different? Does replacing one neck with a nominally identical one make a difference?
No buts it's 90% more of a fair test, same body wood, same pickup windings, same bridge settings, same strings, same tone controls etc.
 23. Have not watched the clip but did they swap the necks over onto the same body and everything that goes with it or just compare two basses with different boards? Means nothing if its the latter as far as science is concerned Even if you swapped necks the neck woods could have different grains etc that alter the sound anyway, Allevas have a dildo headstock for tone and if you beleive that then what differences could two identicle necks have regardless of the board?
 24. The 3.0 is brilliant! Runs everything exactly like your 6.0, 300watt at 4 ohms (only one speakon though so you will need to slave one cab to the other), I have used it with the 2x12 and its not that different to the 6.0 really as far as power is concerned, certainly wasnt at its limit anyway. Also for home use its great as it normally lives on its own with the 1x10 in the picture for either quiet practice or acoustic jams (proper acoustic jams with no pa at all) as it has no fan unlike all other Genz heads it makes no noise at all, cracking little spare head. Pictures of your 6.0 in situ just for porns sake are always good anyway.
