1. Yep I'd go for a 2x12 or a pair of 2x10s failing that get a 1x12 then add another one later, single 12 will cover many gigs and 2 will do almost all.
2. Maybe when I can lift it with both hands it will feel lighter Feels really well made and very professional feeling/looking, can't wait to try it out fully, that FET channel is going to Sound ace pushing my big genz cab to the limit!
3. As my arm is broken and I can't actually try playing through my new Shuttle Max 9.2 I thought I might as well just play around with it No idea on the sounds yet but it's so big it's not really a micro head anymore and it's not that light either, then again compared to the same setup of two rack mount preamps and a 900 watt power amp it's tiny! Shuttle 3.0 on top of a Shuttle 6.0 on top of a Shuttle Max 9.2
4.
Maybe they dont have the luxury of having two rigs. And it seems they are the type of guitarists that if you told them to bring a smaller rig, they might not be best pleased.
They both bought 2 cabs each, I presume they knew it was not knebworth?
5.
The suggestion that they should downsize or change their rig isn't realistically going to happen. If I spent a good amount of money and my time investing in my bass rig, then some new guy said to me, "you should change it, its too loud". I wouldn't be best pleased with this new member. Its an unfortunate situation, but the two guitarists will just have to find out the hard way (from a promoter or potential manager or other source) that they are too loud and if they want to push further, they will need to sort it.
I have invested plenty but would still expect to be told not to use my full rig for gigs where it's not required, if someone is using the wrong gear for the gig when they have other options ie their smaller amp I see no problem in telling them?
6.
I found this one the other day about Flea's rig. GK all the way ! http://youtu.be/3ARZGwfhC_U
Nice rack
7.
There are lot like that here too. You may be opening a can of worms.
Tbf I think a lot of the people here who come across like that are just passionate about getting their sound just right for the show, this pair have just gone down the spinal tap route, I'm sure we have all got a mental image of them already.
8. After all the comments I had to watch it too, Awesome lol
9. What you have to realise with people like this is that their agenda is totally different to ours, I presume most of us agree that regardless of whether you play doom, jazz, indie covers, weddings or something so original no one knows what it is yet the aim is to entertain the crowd? We try and play to a suitable crowd to start with to increase our chances and learn the songs at practice to make it run as smoothly as possible, other than that it's a jam and the crowd should appreciate it for that. Now these guys are all about entertaining themselves so as long as someone is prepared to play bass, drums or sing with them then they are happy. There is a band near me where the whole band have this attitude which meens they gig regular too, I can't describe how bad they are but I have now refused to play on the same bill as them which I promise is not like me at all, they bring the whole evening down imo.
10. I have seen them twice since he went to Acoustic, both times he was still using his full GK rig
11. At 8 ohms that amp is probably putting out 150 watts too! Someone else had this and it was just a matter of knob twiddling as suggested above but I would go with musician 20s idea of getting another matching cab
12.
That's an industrial unit and so unlikely to welcome potential customers.
There is an industrial unit in Warwick that stocks almost everything mentioned in this thread
13. As always with these things the cabs on stage are mostly for the players monitoring as somewhere all them boxes need to come through the pa for people 30, 000 deep to be able to hear anyway. Flea has 7 cabs on stage totaling 19 drivers and 4 horns yet one tiny Mic on one of the 10 inch drivers, he is also galliens biggest name player but has no heads on show, just cabs.
14. Bit of a fizzy feeling in my gentleman's region as James May says!
15. Just one of those cabs is overkill for most gigs I have been there many times like everyone else, I can't imagine what a pair of them on both sides of the stage would be like! I would probably walk but take the vocalist and drummer with me, the guitarists are the easiest to replace anyway
16.
i know the seller and he is straight
He wants his bass not a night at the cinema
17. Mine has never come loose but this thread has made me think it would be worth a checkup, thanks
18. Awesome but it plays with a pick (picks) so it will never be a pro player !
19. I'd just get a 2 band mm clone preamp, someone on here sells them for hardly anything, can't remember who? Such a simple circuit that it will be spot on, make sure the pickup is wired as parallel or even fit a push pull pot as a series parallel option
20. Having one class D lightweight head and one bass is very handy for gigging, I have four of the same bass and three Genz heads now as that setup is so practical
21. I presume so yes. The local was put into all the nerves from my neck after i was ut out under the general so it was limp from the shoulder down, like an elephants trunk swinging
22. I was a bit out of it still when they let me WALK out last night! Hopefully worth it to have the specialist surgeon do it rather than an emergency patch up job when it happened. I had a general and a local so the bones could be drilled, the local anaesthetic lasted until tea time today so my arm was just hanging limp too. Best wishes with the leg though
23. Well my hand was only held on by the small bone (ulna?) as the end of the big one (radius?) was blown clean off, the specialist operates from a different hospital on Tuesday's, I did it on Saturday so I presume they just decided it was better long term for the hand surgeon to do it yesterday rather than someone else doing it as an emergency on the Sunday as first planned. Everyone else having ops were clearly people that had been on waiting lists for weeks, the only downside (and I'm still very grateful to them) was that I'd say it was border line for the day surgery really, I think I should of been in overnight to be honest on a normal ward. As I said I am grateful for them slotting me in to the specialist surgeons schedule though and I'm much better now. My arm hurts like feck and is as big as a house though, that's not their fault though I electrocuted it all by myself! Fingers crossed you will be sorted soon
24. They are good and easily modable, I have one of their guitars.
