  1. I used the 79 in anger last Friday, it sounded awesome! Bottom end is absolutely killer pre EB basses do appear to all be quite different especially the neck profiles and frets, unlike Fenders of the same era though they are all good!
  2. IMO as long as its a good neck then low C, low B or high C should all be possible with minor adjustments that we should all be able to do at home
  3. Just a quick update to say I'm alive and bolted up Hurts quite a bit but I could be dead so just got to keep on going, my arm is huge! Thanks again everyone and stay safe.
  4. Some DIs are just noisy anyway, but a squirt of servisol in there won't hurt it at all.
  5. I have been away from here for a while and missed all the fun with this guy! Is it still for sale?
  6. cheers dude : ) I will treat you to a Grinnall lol update- CT scan has shown that the ball on the end of the big arm bone that holds your hand on has come off, going in tomorrow for an operation to bolt in back on again then a plate over the lot, might start learning a few Adam Clayton lines in a few weeks
  7. That's encouraging low end bee, thanks The '79 has a few knocks anyway Jose and I know you would be careful with it.
  8. I had an ABM for years, every now and then it needed a good clean out, remove the gear tray and blow everywhere out with an airline first, get in the jacks etc and around the eq sliders, then liberally spray everywhere with servisol from maplins whilst turning sliding pushing and pulling every knob and control as you go, leave it stood on its end for a good few hours to dry out, connect it up and enjoy the hiss and crackle free goodness done it at least four times to mine, give the cooling fan blades a wipe down too. sorry for the lack of caps i have a bust arm!
  9. I am missing something or am I right in thinking the op was asking about low C rather than high C? if so that will be fine as you will be tuning the B up to C which should be ok i would say as long as its got a good truss rod as it might want a tiny tweak tighter, thats all.
  10. I'd be glad to let you have it until the cast is removed Jose, shame your so far away, is there anyway you could get it?
  11. Thanks again everyone, I was thinking about a bit of synth actually good idea There won't be much left in my wallet now 2 months on sick pay! I think I might be top poster on BassChat over the next few weeks
  12. Just want the op ASAP , was tomorrow but not going to be for a few days now
  13. Awesome! I have tried the classics drT I like them and I want a classic 5, freshly broken wrist will delay a purchase though
  14. just bought a shuttle max 9.2 and got a great new band started, really excited then stuck my arm in an electric fan heater got a massive shock (ten times worse than any as a sparky for nearly 20 years) then smashed my wrist around inside until i managed to pull the fuse myself with my other hand! long and short ct scan next week to organise a plate and 2 bolts. gutted
  15. Been looking for ages and decided its time I bought a 6.0 years ago and its still my main amp, its plenty powerful enough for any gig so the 900 watts will just be a bonus really but what I really want is the FET chanel that I have on the little 3.0 I also have but with the power of the 6.0. I have realised that I really like a solid state preamp for bass which is why I didn't want a Streamliner 900 either. Knobs galore so It might be going for a song on here if I cant work out how to use it! I will also have this 3dpm thing for the first time too? I still think there is a market for a Shuttle Max 18.2 using 2 900watt modules like the shuttle max 12.0 does with both solid and tube preamps, 2 Genz Neox 2x12T cabs and my imaginary head would be a killer rig! or even 4 8 Ohm Barefaced cabs with 1800watts to feed them from one small head if that floats your boat? Anyway thats it, cant wait to try it
