To put a slight twist on this and congrats obviously, as much as I like the yob idea, and I am still on the lookout for a mint root beer 77 ray with hang tag and teardrop case myself, if I had been given either a 77 p bass or strat on my 21st all those years ago I would of been very happy but even more so with a pre CBS Jazz and it's value even more so now, especially if I had turned out a drummer or ballet dancer
I would be very happy with a P bass from my dads year of birth instead '54 (not '51 unfortunately)
Just keep a copy of The Sun from the baby's birthday and put it in the case of a nice early 70's Jazz or something
Do people that play 4 string basses only play the E string then? If your playing the B when your meant to be playing the E then surely those people would be playing their E when aiming for the A and so on, I'm confused.

Every piece of kit I've come across with an external voltage selector switch, has had it recessed, very stiff to operate and normally requires a tool like a screwdriver to move it from one position to another.

I was trying to be diplomatic
This is probably why some amps have the voltage switch hidden inside the amp....but as its a small class D head its aimed at travelling musicians that need it accessable.
They pop up on eBay more often than you would think you know, the guy I play bass for has one and its not bad at all, the tort guard is only single ply so its starting to buckle up a bit but other than that its a solid piece of kit that sounds pretty good once it's put into the mixing desk.
The Tony Levin olp 5 is well worth seeking out, I have two EBMM sr5s but can get quite close and happy to play the olp.......but.....the string spacing is tighter than the proper version which some people find too close already, that could be an advantage to some people but worth pointing out. The necks a bit more of a c profile rather than the flatter backed D shape on the EBMM. Hope that helps?
It's all in the fingers, pick, play nearer the bridge, pluck with a flat palm near the neck for a mock double bass kind of thing, plectrum right near the bridge, thumbed, slapped etc etc etc
Yep what risingson said The Alnico has a darker moodier edge to my ears, if I am doing something upbeat and poppy I'd go for the ceramic, the ceramic is easier to settle into the mix too ime. I like both and could finish my gigging days with either
I have an Alnico equipped 2010 and a last of the Ceramic pickup 2007, love em both in their own ways! They really can do everything or at least everything I have ever needed Enjoy
I never commented on the price
New frets are better than worn out frets but I am sure you are aware that an original fretted neck with good condition original frets holds much more value than one with replaced frets no matter how well its been done?, thats life.
What about the rest of the things I have listed like the bridge, tuner and pickguard? have they all gone?
Can we see pics yet?

Brilliant Pete, well done. Nice playing, good track. Where's the emoticon for jealous .
Congrats.

Ta mate I cant take any credit for writing it just the bass playing which has probably been through the iMac about ten times!
I have just looked at the soundcloud site and seen there is all sorts of demo stuff on there, I also play the slapped chorus on Inconsolable if you want to hear how bad my slapping is
Cheers, Dave is a bit of a fan of over producing stuff, his vocals are usually better before he starts messing! One day I will force him to let me do the production just to prove that simple can be good Its probably not one of his best tracks either so I dont know why he put that one forward? At least it has my playing on it though

A free set of strings might be quite persuasive, under the circumstances!

Just checked the website "Xmas bumper deal is on now complete with Gorilla 30 watt amp but the LaBella strings are 'out of stock', shipped with Rotosounds until further notice"
TBF the neck is rare even with new frets they are not going to come up often.

Massive over produced Ray5 bass sound IMO which could be good or bad I dont know?
I dont play the studio versions on all the tracks but do all the live shows.
