I always think of Alder being quite light and Mahog being heavy, my black SR5 is heavy but as its a solid finish Im not sure what its made of? I think my pre EB is ash as was my old Teal SR4 which are both light in comparison.

Watching the Big Al review clips Ed says the 5 string version is mahogany which helps make it lighter?

[/quote] No there is one that is listed as all original yet its got an ebony board and no fret marker dots? I have seen that white SR5 a few times, its nice!

I know, my Blue Ray 5 was bought on it. 9 months of easy 0% payments are easy to get past the missus.

Warwick castle, Shakespear etc its all very romantic and well worth a visit, especially the industrial estate where the Bard wrote much of his stuff

I'm glad its not just me then If I had the funds I would take a Genz 9.2 MAX head and a Classic Ray 5 from Marks stock list right now, thats £2700 so I dont see why for most people where it would cost no more than £30-40 in fuel to get to a decent shop would buy without trying? Nowt as queer as folk as they say, I just hope someone buys either of the items above then hates them so I can buy them half price in the FS section on here

I have gas for a Big Al 5, a Classic Ray 5 and a Shuttle max 9.2 two of which I know you have Bass Direct has a nice Classic 5 on offer that I would take if I could get it past the other half but I cant get the figures to stack up right now Does anywhere have big Als on the hook to try?

I am trying to find a way of taking the Classic Ray 5 off him that he has on offer......take it away scheme is now only for up to 25 year olds

I have been googling but cant find much, I just keep watching Ed Friedland's review which is not helping me much! Who stocks them, are there any in the UK what colour and pickup config would you look out for? I'm thinking totally different to my Rays so, SSS and rosewood board for starters anyway and I quite like the vintage burst against the ultra modern styling. Gassing for no reason at all

Is that an ebony board? has it got a skunk stripe, do the fretless ones have a skunk stripe? Hhhmm......

I still dont see why people begrudge spending a fraction of the cost of something to go and fetch it? Glasgow to Bassdirect in my wifes car would cost me £78 (I just google mapped it to check) If I was spending £1500-2000 (or £3500 on a bass as somone was the other day) I would just see it as an adventure, that £78 is going to look a bargain compared to what you are going to lose when it comes to selling the wrong amp after 6 months and doing the whole process all over again! That's worst case scenario, there must be somewhere nearer and a train may be even cheaper if you then had the stuff delivered to your home a few days later.

You would need some kind of line in or fx loop on the carlsbro which I presume it has not got? A lot of the line outs/ phones out on smaller amps are emulated rather than a proper signal, try listening with headphones I bet it sounds weird. If you put a bass through my Marshall guitar amp on the gain channel and wear phones it produces the exact Cliff Burton bass solo sound!
