1. It does spoil you once you do a few gigs with great drummers, I gig with a few pro drummers (regularly with Joe Blanks former young drummer of the year and now pro session and touring drummer) it's awesome but you do miss them when they have proper gigs that pay the bills
2.
The band I thought I'd quit just got offered two gigs - looks like we're back together again
I love it when you tell a band your leaving when you get the "but if any gigs come in you will do them wont you?"
3. Yes they are cool those with the centre hole, the shuttle 3.0 physically hasn't got enough room for both outputs even though it does go down to 4 ohms.
4. They should re issue the cutlass IMO, it looks up to date in a funny sort of way. Maybe if they had done a Flea Cutlass back in the 90's we would still be seeing him playing them?
5. I love them straps, the last one I saw went for just under £100 on eBay and it was about trashed!
6. That white one is awesome! Is it the original finish?
7. Love 'em, there is a pre EB porn thread if you search for it
8. I have had to make up a few Speakon to jack leads so i can use my heads with other peoples cabs either at gigs where we are sharing or at various rehearsal places, also the cable can be reversed so my Genz cabs can be used with someone else's head if it's me lending the cab or if my head went tits up!
9.
well you're never going to buy a steinburger
10. Some kind of collapsible cabs would be cool, must be possible? Neoprene cones that can just be folded up.
11. Yes my cabs live in the kitchen/diner but they don't look to bad as they have roq solid covers fitted, another good reason for verticle stacked cabs over 4x10's etc.
12. That little box room has a built in wardrobe which I have lined with carpet, it houses about 6 cases at the front with two deep shelves at the back for all my other gear and what not, it's basically the same depth as the width of the stairs below it. I have a double drawer dressing table that houses the laptop and all that stuff, and shelves with power amp, guitar amp, drum machine etc etc all wired up through a pair of speakers either side of the table, there is everything you could need all in that little room!
13. Well all the best shops hang them up as do the best manufacturers, I dont see any issues. If your bass can't support the weight of its own body its a rubbish bass IMO
14. Btw that's a furry bat called Batty keeping guard on the far wall
15. It does free up a lot of floor space and I'm more likely to play them all if they are to hand
16. You can do it keep going! I might just keep buying more hooks as an excuse to buy more basses.
17. I have been putting this off for ages while doing other jobs in the house but the wife is working late, no one is falling out on basschat and I should be doing some reading practice (as you can see from the stand in the pic) but I have finally finished the wall of lovely basses and one token guitar of EBMM decent naturally! My acoustic bass is on a stand in our bedroom but I have one more hook left for the back bedroom for my electro acoustic guitar to go on but I have lent it out at the moment so I'm not sure exactly where to screw it yet. I want to swap the guitar for a Classic Ray5 at some point but I'm happy so far
18. Just put two more of these up, cheap off ebay but so far so good and as you can tell they can be tilted so as you can hang guitars on an angle.
19.
I would never leave a bass hanging on a wall hanger for more than a couple of hours.
Why?
20.
Love these clips of Marlowe and his 79 Ray, Pete, but it won't do the same job as a good Jazz Bass. They are opposites, in a way- the Stingray has a scooped midrange with extended highs and lows whereas the Jazz is all about complex mids that scoop out a bit with both pickups on full. Both great basses though . Horses for courses ,and all that.
For sure I own both The rays are better though
21. And this shits on any Jazz bass! wait until it kicks in properly.... Such a great player too, and if anyone can find the bit where the single pickup Ray becomes a one trick pony I'd like to see it!
22. This is a great example of how fat and juicy a pre EB is yet still retaining the cutting highs, I have never heard an EBMM version get this smooth on the lows, its the best example of what people go on about IMO.
