1. Even with a a shuttle 3.0 head I can dial in an excessive amount of bottom end with my Neox, the rubber wheels and cast one piece rattle free handles make it extra awesome anyway. What amp are you using it with?
2.
Besides, a little bird over at ernieball.com tells me you've ordered not one, but two bongo's!!
Awesome!
3.
So why did you get rid of it? There must have been a good reason at the time?
If you have managed to stick to that reasoning you need to put it as a sticky for all the rest of us! Now where is my Peavey bass or my SGC Nanyo SB320?...........
4. It's really nice that Fat Rich! My pre EB has slightly raised A and D poles, probably about right for the fretboard radius, but I have seen some with really raised ones on EBMM basses in all sorts of odd combinations too. I cant remember what my teal 2002 was like now, never had any trouble though.
5. I keep considering getting something else but only look at more Rays in the end, I would never be without at least one, probably the black bitsa on the left as its a gem!
6. I have never had to push the pole pieces in or out, some people push them out to try and make that string stronger others appear to push them in so the whole pickup can be raised up more. What are they like at the moment?
7. Banging a set of 45s on or thicker if you already use them is often the advice given but it doesn't help unless you take the E down as you will be putting a 105 there which just gives the same problem, 45's are better but only if the pup is set right after. See I have still waffled on
8. Seriously I have took all of mine from balanced to weak G all the way back to a weak E. Last time I did one in isolation the G was actually over powering once I tried it with a full band at rehearsal, keep the screwdriver handy for the final tweak
9. I'm getting better at summing the fix up, raise the G side of the pup up as close as possible for you playing style then lower the E side until it gives a nice balance overall, that preamp has more than enough to replace anything you lose in lows rather than trying to get more high end. Job done, money saved and no resale issues
10.
Buy my SR5 and then I can find out
I have 2 already
11. Criminal to not list pics when it's butter cream!
12. One of things I like about my Genz 3.0 is the lack of fan, never gets hot either. The 6.0 is a bit annoying for quiet practice with its whir.
13. The first one of these SLO necks to come up on BassChat? Plenty of folk say they would love a Ray, especially one with multiple pickups but can't cope with the wide neck, well here you go now is your chance!
14.
Remember to get a non playing member of public in so they can tell everybody that they can't hear any difference.
By non playing member of the public you mean that guy in the Status Quo T shirt that is at every gig that looks for your shocked expression when he reveals that his mate's mate at work has a real Gibson Jazz bass worth £1000? (I think it would be worth more if it existed!).
15. Combine all the advice but get a Bartloni equipped Modulus!
16. And we wonder why us bass players get labeled as geeks!
17. Sounds like you should of tried the Streamliner then
18. The 6.0 and 9.0 (& 6.2 9.2) must be the same then but the 3.0 is smaller trust me, I am looking at both right now Edit - I see you have took that out.
19. No idea, Did about 40 with my originals band from the late 90's until 2004 but also played in 2 function type bands that played most weekends (one or the other sometimes both) for a number of years over a period from about 2003-2011 so whats that? I'd say I would fall into the popular more than 500 but less than a 1000 group. Can we count jam nights, played about 6 songs every tuesday* for about 5 years thats another 250 on top. *The same 6 songs obviously and ending with Mustang Sally naturally.
20. I have one of these and it's a great cab but the 3.0, 6.0 and 9.0 are all different sizes, the three stays in with one screw and obviously the 6.0 fits, I have both (I presume the 6.2 is the same) but the 9.0 will be too big. Just thought that was worth mentioning? Cool cabs though
21. If this was a '77 I'd have to own it !
22. Blimey that's a bargain! At that money is rather keep it as a spare?
23. I would try to not limit myself to 35" scale, If its nice and sounds good it is, I would have either quite happily
24. You need to find that mute assembly mate it will knock it for a couple of hundred quid IMO, you can get a new one for £25 including the pads but the thumb turns are much smaller, better than nothing if you dont find it though
25. As Steve says its all about the pics even that hang tag alone could be £50+ on ebay! My rule of thumb is; Battered with no case and a few slight modifications, unless the modifications are severe or parts missing £1200 minimum. Nice condition with a few dings and a bit of mojo but all standard with some kind of vintage style case £1400-1700. Very tidy all original with case £1700-1900. Very tidy all original, teardrop MM case, 70's with epoxy preamp and strung thru etc £1900+ 1976 with teardrop case in mint condition will crack the £3k if one ever comes on the market, never seen it happen yet, they have always had some kind of issue. Lets see some pics, by mutes missing do you meen just the pads or have the actually spring plates and thumb turns been took off and lost?
