1. If you look at it from another angle it becomes even more pointless IMO, I am the target audience for these endorsement deals not as an artist but as someone that is meant to be buying the gear because I see other people use it, no offense but I'm not going to go out hunting stuff down because I have seen it in someones sig on BC am I? Unless you are a known player using a known brand I cant see much point other than bragging rights on sites like this really. We all tell each other what gear we like and what we have (look below).
2. Nice one Jose! Catchy tune that There should be more love for anything with white pickup covers these days too
3. I work in quite a few schools maybe I should hunt one down and give it a try!
4. I have noticed its sort of left handed tuning across the strings! You dont have a cheap cello for sale then do you
5. Since I have learnt to read a bit I quite fancy playing something different, I dont have a fretless and never played anything with a bow but I understand cello is read from the same clef as bass so once I can get my head around the tuning basically the top 4 strings from a 5 string tuned to c? ADGC I think I could get something going. Anyone else had a go or even a virtuoso? I know this is not Cellochat but to my mind its a bass on its end
6. Guy Pratt, Daryl Jones and Anthony Jackson are all just lurking in the shadows but I have just let the secret out
7. The 6 bolt is as solid as a rock! Never had to shim one though......
8. Most three bolt neck basses I have seen you can move the neck left and right fairly easily with a good tug. Now a 4 bolt with a micro tilt that's a different matter. In truth though a good shim is always going to give a good solid joint compared to having a little pin trying to do the job, using it as a way to gauge the shim you need would make sense.
9. Your really doing it then! Best of luck with all your sales then
10. You should only be up at 12 o'clock on the master at gig volumes even then I'm often a lot less, back off that preamp gain some more. My clip light flickers a bit but not much, if your using the amps EQ heavily that also affects the pre amp signal.
11. But I already have a 3.0 also so it would make 18.0
12. I know people complain about not having a specialist shop local but if it were me I'd still rather spend a few quid travelling to try stuff if we are talking £2k plus, most cases we are talking half a tank of fuel £40, in the op's case fair enough it's going to be more like £200 with a night in a travel lodge but is that such a big deal in the context of a £4k Fodera? Most people in the market for the basses mentioned will spend a lot of time and money travelling to see how things are going, one BC member I know must of spent £1000's travelling to GB basses in Brighton and another I know has been to NY to choose his Sadowsky, living somewhere a hundred miles or so away from bass direct in the midlands really is no excuse IMO
13. If your Ashdown has more top end than the Genz you have put me right off the idea of getting a Streamliner which is good because I cant really afford one! Looks like I'm a Shuttle man through and through.
14. I agree even if it is only the valves the get blown if thats halfway through a gig its not much help! Now If you had a Shuttle 9.0 I could of took that off you to fund another cab but I already have a 6.0
15. How can they be Marmite when it took you ages to find out you dont like them and that they are so bad? Thats the whole point of the Marmite arguement you either love them or hate it, not love it for ages, buy loads, rave about it then change your mind and tell everyone not to buy it.
16.
Really??? I had a couple of Warwicks (Corvette $$ being the closest with the pair of MM type pickups) before I considered anything remotely close to MusicMan, and... you know the process, it's well documented
Went to collect my Jazzman with £1250 in my pocket, it's preamp was shot from the factory, came home with my first Ray that was over ten years ago now.
17. I got into them after massive Warwick disappointment so there is your opposite view
18. Opinion is divided on this amp according to google, some people say running at 4ohms with an 8 ohm cab will be fine using the rule of thumb of a 100% so upto 8 and down to 2 in the 4 ohm position, flick it to 2 ohms though for smoke and flames!
19. See I'm not familiar with that amp so if it is then you need to check it out properly
20. That's just saved you a few quid then! It should say somewhere what it puts out at 8 ohms , probably just over half what it's rated at when running at 4 ohms so your cab should be fine
21. I dont understand the question, you can still use the 8 ohm cab with the amp in the 4 or 2 ohm position, thats minimum ohms or am I missing the point?
22. Never noticed much damage from them as they have usually been put in the bin for dead strings before that happens, they are not for me
23. The most obvious example I can think of is how great it can sound when the bass is thundering away fast and heavy but the drummer drops into half time or even starts with some awkwardly timed cymbal hits/rolls etc, so no not always
