  1. So would you not let a homosexual male singer perform the song? What about the straight female audience members singing along?
  2. I've never attached a specific gender to a cover version, if it sounds good it's good. OK an actual tribute act might be different but only if that's what the punters were expecting. I'd have no issue doing a Free cover with our female singer, none at all.
  3. It took me a year to train her and she doesn't set anything up, lol.
  4. I didn't doubt it and I was being pedantic but at the same time I had a valid point. 😃 The only rule our singer has to adhere to is that they must pack up the bag that contains all the extension leads, xlrs and kettle leads at the end of the gig as we pack up the bulky items, male, female, gay, straight, non binary, doesn't matter, they can be as curious as they like as long as they do it during packing the leads up 😀
  5. There's no mention of sexuality, sexuality and gender aren't the same thing!
  6. That's why we have experts and a legal system, I don't think you'll be allowed to turn up at your local theatre with a violin and be given a cheque for a few grand.
  7. To me I'd say the limitation is within the player rather than the Squier if they physically or more likely mentally could not perform a piece on a like for like bass ie a four string jazz bass. Of course there will be nuisances that are different but only in the same way there would be between a USA Fender and a Sadowsky, Sadowsky and Lakland etc
  8. I agree with this, in some cases it might be expensive and well built but made for a specific purpose like a motown gig P bass with flats, that's not going to be great for a modern metal band but it's not a bad bass as such.
  9. I think I spoke to him on blackberry messenger once, I'm hugely offended on his behalf.
  10. I agree with the first half but I think you are missing the point us five string players are making regarding the Squier thing, for me and I think the others the point is that Squier do make five string basses so we have that choice to make the ability to do this imaginary gig using a Squier. I could do it on a four string Squier but I wouldn't have to. That's why I'm saying poop to those that say they could not play what they do now on a Squier providing a comparable model is available.
  11. Practically blood brothers then if he's accepted a friend request on facebook!
  12. I haven't taken into account anything to do with double bass, different animal imo. Anything that can be played on a comparable like for like model like a five string jazz or a fretless P bass can be played on a Squier or a Fodera, it might sound a bit different but no more than the difference between two different high end basses.
  13. I'd say the limitations between a Chinese motorbike and a Ducati are far greater than between a Squier bass and whatever coffee table bedroom bass you want to compare it to. Put Valentino Rossi on the Zongshen and me on the Ducati and Rossi would still beat me.
  14. I've owned both*, both are capable of transporting a rider. *mine was a Jincheng but I think that counts?
  15. Anyone that says no is talking poop.
  16. "Nice to see a drummer that doesn't keep hitting stuff whilst sound checking all the other instruments".
  17. I was thinking more of a commission sale deal, spit and polish and get top whack minus 20%
  18. This happened at the very first gig with my new Genz rig just days after collecting it from Bass Direct! Grrr
  19. As ever it depends on the geographical area, the cheapest taxi there and back to the nearest music venue would be around £70 from my house.
  20. I agree 100%, we had some 50 year old coke heads at our gig on Saturday, they think they are great and providing the entertainment, they're not.
  21. With things like this I sometimes think it's where a commission sale from a shop can work in everyone's favour, could it be worth seeing if a local instrument shop will take it in? Must be a few students that would like it at the right price that will pass through the shop along with local tutors? I recall one place buying something similar to use as a loaner bass for touring bands etc.
  22. I'd use the supplied rig as is
