  1. I hope he's ok then!
  2. Oh cripes, ear plugs at the ready then folks!
  3. Is Nigel Clutterbuck going to be there?
  4. It works both ways though, some songs just become rushed unless rearranged to suit a different genre. Sweet home Alabama is a good example, all the little riffs and the solos become a blur if played too quickly.
  5. I am the metronome
  6. "Music by INTI", genius.
  7. Knock a 0 off the end of the price and it might be worth a punt
  8. One thing I've always been quite good at as a bass player, possibly the only thing, is keeping the time in check. Sometimes a song needs a rocket under it during the first verse to stop it dragging other times it goes to fast and the dynamics of the song are lost, I recently bought it up at practice that our Blondie call me was too quick and it's much better for a slowing down. Sweet home Alabama at 250bpm at the local jam night is another one that springs to mind.
  9. Almost certainly!
  10. From what I recall they were very heavy, loads of neck dive and the aluminium was cold at first then hot.
  11. Well I'm sure there are a few reasons, first one that springs to mind is that my Shuttlemax is great but if I was doing a motown gig I'd probably want some kind of valve drive to warm it up, the next gig may well be a modern function covers band without the preamp.
  12. Musical exchanges in Birmingham had a huge section full of stuff like that with the metal neck, I think BigkRedX would have exploded with excitement, everyone else and their wallets walked past! Lol. There's often a reason why some things are rare.
  13. You're right they passive 12" Mackies were not much smaller or lighter.
  14. It's not that it's modern that I dislike it, it's because it's dreadful
  15. I had no idea he had made any albums, I won't be looking out for the next three.
  16. Roadworn doesn't tend to go down so well with MM collectors imo, a bit a wear use and a nicely smoothed neck but, a Limelight attacked with an angle grinder finish doesn't add value like a mojod Fender. Around a grand sounds about right to me too, plus or minus, add salt to taste.
  17. I use a second preamp just for double bass, that's a thread in itself, lol. Other people might actually be using a preamp with less controls or a tone they prefer but using the power amp just for the power section so the myriad of knobs might not actually be doing anything.
  18. Oh yeah and sometimes I have a Fishman plat pro EQ for the double bass too, di to the digital desk so another 31 band EQ on there!
  19. My 'for big gigs' head is one of these, I struggle with a basic eq at the best of times so I can get myself in a right mess with this, in fact I can mess up the FET channel along the top row, then mess up the valve channel across the bottom before messing up the global EQ for the main output section on the right, that's before you start pushing in the extra buttons! There's just as many things to mess with on the back panel if you do finally master the front, lol.
  20. I lost all faith in popular music during the Kanye West Glastonbury performance, I tuned in to see him perform live with some of the world's best musicians only to hear a toss backing track and him stood on his own!
  21. It's just a competition to see who's record label has the most money to bribe the radio stations to play their stuff and get it trending.
  22. It was totally lame, he only did the screen, the song was crap and never really got into a groove.
  23. I'd imagine it was a worthless replica with no engine.
  24. Some of their best songs are played on a Ray, anything other than a Ray for Another One Bites the Dust would be criminal, he always swapped over for that one even in his prolific P bass days. Great player, probably my favourite. I'd actually associate him with his natural (sanded off) P Bass more than anything.
