  1. I really like it, what age is it do you think?
  2. http://www.musicmanbass.org/mycustompage0061.htm Defo a 90s bridge complete with Flea saddles and serial number and the ernie ball era mute kit with the smaller thumb screws, I bet that bridge alone is worth a few quid.
  3. That's really nice! I think I've worked out the mystery with the bridges, that's a Flea bridge but with the mute kit fitted that the Flea just had bolts to blank off the holes. Look how the strings exit straight from the saddles rather than kicking off to the side, great purchase.
  4. You wouldn't need to on a Musicman, they come fitted with one to save you doing it, lol.
  5. How can age improve two lumps of wood bolted together? A 1970s 15lb Fender Jazz with a terrible neck pocket will only improve if you take it to a good luthier to have the body chambered and the neck pocket redone.
  6. Oh and hang on a minute didn't someone else's EB from the recent thread go back faulty straight out the box? Hhmmm I think I'll stick with my original comment and add that you got a rare good one. Look after it,lol.
  7. I've seen some right recent stinkers, my mate had an SG a couple of years ago brand new, I presumed although it had Gibson on the headstock that it was a new budget range made in the far east, in fact that would be doing the far east an injustice!
  8. I've seen a few up close and they were all great, mind you the last one I tried cost a grand more than a Gibson!
  9. I'd leave the ball in their court and say nothing else for now.
  10. They've never made a bass I've enjoyed playing, their current build quality is rubbish and Tokai have been building better versions of their flagship Les Pauls at all price points for years. Probably best to just sell T Shirts from now on.
  11. Last time this came up most of the people saying it's wrong that musicman fit them hadn't and wouldn't remove their own necks on various makes to check.
  12. I've got around 6 grands worth of Musicman basses here, they've all been shimmed in sunny california, lol.
  13. I can see how the poor design leaves that chunk of wood vulnerable. I'd point out to them that if you had caused the damage then you would have just bolted it back together and sent it back under the distance selling rules and they'd be non the wiser rather than highlighting the problem.
  14. I enjoy both, nailing something on the DB is great but I'd probably not play live 'upright' as often without the EUB, some gigs I just can't fit the big bass on the stage area, one regular gig doesn't have enough height! Lol.
  15. Nothing elegant but it works a treat, easily the best mod on mine. I need to redo the spike as it's rattling again.
  16. I agree with you, I lasted six months before ordering a DB after getting my Stagg! I think the clumsy Stagg neck is a good introduction to the awkward real thing if you go that way later.
  17. A Stagg sounds perfect to me for what you want, I still think the Stagg is good if you want to move onto an acoustic upright later as the neck is fairly deep and the finger board arched, a fretless bass on it's end it ain't!
  18. Who'd have thought the first Barefaced cab I'd see without the obligatory amp overhang either side would be the smallest cab they make!
  19. Just needs some pickups now then, lol.
  20. I wouldn't say so, the Aria is more like the Stagg (well the other way round), the new ibby has no string afterlength like an NS design.
  21. I just can't see any strings being able to do a good job of EADG and BEAD at the flick of four D tuners. I'll stick with the Stingray 5s.
