  1. Wem dominator!? One man's trash is another man's treasure as they say Musical exchange in brum had a tunnel full of 'interesting' stuff, I always wondered why they didn't junk it to make more room, probably worth a few quid now.
  2. The secret is to use a smaller boutique amp then crank that to stage monitoring volume, micd up at head height spread across the room sounds lovely compared to a massive amp blaring at everyone's ankles, which is also why the guitarist can't hear it and turns it up as the gig goes on.
  3. It actually makes loads of sense, you've got much more control over the band mix out front and more control over the volume, as soon as the bass player turns up with his 2000 Watt Matamp you're screwed and inevitably it turns into a volume war and a pub too loud. Small amps, wedges or in ears behind the FOH, full range pa system out front for the win regardless of the venue size, these rock stars running around in front of six Marshall stacks whilst wearing in ears aren't fooling me. ☺
  4. So what about very well educated musicians that still think Jaco is widdley nonsense, just not as clever as jaywalker yet?
  5. And likewise loads of music technically incorrect that people love, ie Bob Dylan wtf
  6. Original Grange Hill theme was a good un.
  7. The trouble is people still buy big backline based on who is using it live, most of it on big stages is nothing more than stage dressing and advertising. The smaller the gig the bigger the amp appears the norm now!
  8. I've got fives only for electric bass but fours only for upright bass.
  9. Just watching a Genesis programme on the yesterday chanel, Phil Collins says he pinched Ringo's drum pattern and fills for the song Shame That's All.
  10. The trouble is those tortoises take a long time to grow!
  11. They are very pretty and in another league to the Stagg, the only thing I'd say is a possible negative is that it's less DB like than a Stagg, if someone was wanting to move onto a full DB later/as well as then I would recommend the Stagg to get the hang of the left (right for Silvia) hand technique of a DB. For me the dots just confuddle me too, I prefer the minimalist Stagg method or none at all if wanting to go full DB later. Quick transition from elec bassist to passable in the mix upright player the NS has it hands down, most convincing DB sound alike goes to the Yamaha, most awkward to play deep neck closest to the real thing goes to the Stagg imo.
  12. Trying to buy basses 'without' an Adam Clayton signature is becoming difficult, I think the ones without will be worth a few quid in years to come!
  13. Once the dinosaurs and their "I need my sound out front blasted from an 8x10 in the corner of the room regardless of the size of the venue" have died out I think setups like this will be common place, looks great.
  14. 93% but it was mixing up the Kims for me.
  15. Well the gig was a bit cursed, I came down with manflu but my mates went, their car broke down on the way!
  16. Just had a look and it appears they are, maybe he's the right guy after all! Mind you they are still in debt so maybe not. It's all a corporate nonsense anyway imo.
  17. But are Disney or Nike in debt for millions?
  18. Possibly a blessing in disguise but still sad, still bringing joy to lots of people though
  19. I'm not on there but I'd imagine there's a 'message read' notification? so the sender would know it had been read.
  20. If BigRedX finds out Fender is now run by ex chairman of Disney Consumer Products he's gonna have a field day! With all the top brass in the world they've hired one sacked two years ago, I don't suppose you get the pick of the crop if you're millions in debt?
  21. Snow patrol, cold play and a whole host of other dreary bands do alright.
  22. There's nothing to say they can't be good bass lines written by the guitarist and taught to the bassist though is there?
  23. There's always going to be players that are not as experienced that need guiding along (see the River boat song fingering thread ) , for someone that can play but not really write their own parts they might gel, the band might sound worse but that's another matter.
  24. I must admit it would annoy me a bit too, just a "I'm really busy but I'll get back to you asap thanks", if something life and death is going on what you doing messing around on Facebook? That said I wouldn't have sent a sarky message, just a "sorry position now filled" once you'd had your think about it and messaged back.
