Looking after your own affairs I can understand, but looking around to see how others have chosen to do things I find very odd. Just me as usual, I suppose.
Not jealousy, sarcasm.
2.
A Musicman 5 string I owned back in the '80's. Good to play physically, and I persevered with it for a good while, but it only ever had one sound, and that was the dead plank sound................. Possibly why they're still not worth a great deal now compared to the old 4 strings.
That's only because they didn't make an old 5 string Stingray, 1987 onwards Stingray 5s fetch more than 1987 onwards 4s, an 80s Ray 5 is quite a rare bass having only a couple of years on sale in the uk.
3.
Sounds to me like it's the time they go and buy a burger.
Indeed, from one of the food vendors supplying their services for free too?
4.
Rickenbacker 4003. Huge disappointment
That's nonsense there's nothing worse about the 4003 than the other models they make, they're all terrible
5. I agree with blue on that, king and flea are the two most main stream slappers but flea has had far more hits and most without slap or only bits and bobs in a song.
6. Oooh nice
7.
It's being so cheerful that keeps you going Pete.........
Burnt too many times that's all
8. Great price for a lot of fun, I paid the same Just for the strings I've put on mine!
9. I wouldn't limit myself beyond my own lack of ability, having an extra string and being able to slap are just two more strings to your bow imo.
10. I think it depends what you call "main stream" then, I'd class it as modern stuff on the radio.
11. Being run for "various charities" means it's impossible to view the registered charity that would normally be heading it up to help decide if it's something I'd support. Many charities use something like "75% of the profit goes to the chosen charity guaranteed", so after they've paid themselves handsomely and paid their buddies over the odds for all the services required the organisers still feel the need to dip their fingers in the pot and take another 25% just for shits and giggles.
12. We get paid a fair amount at local beer festival gigs behind a normal pub in the car park type affairs where it's free for the public to get in and there's a fraction of the potential audience numbers that this 'charity' event will have at it charging £30 a ticket. Total piss take.
13. What sort of merch do covers bands sell?
14. +1 for only needing the main bracket, the small one is to replicate the upper bout for playing Arco beyond the neck joint, I'm told its in the wrong place anyway!
15. I'm not sure a bunch of old guys slapping in the tickled trout makes it "mainstream"?
16. Well we have got through it in F without the dots, I will use them to fine tune my version, now what we did find is that bit in the middle is a sort of not in the same key so that might be the route of the discussion regarding the accidentals? I'll have a look when I get time. Is there a version in F on here?
17. I heard that Malcolm young wrote all the guitar parts and Angus learnt them from him and added the theatrics?
18. Just looked at my message, he says F? Got practice with him tonight so I'll see.
19. Just need to get my reading brain into gear then drop it all a tone now.......
20. I ended up having it took out a couple of years after as it was thought to be the source of my restricted movement, unfortunately it wasn't so it's still fecked. Almost everyone that has this injury gets carpal tunnel after, as do double bass players and anyone that uses power tools at work or as a hobby, I do all of them
