Then I guess it's s personal thing. I don't know any older people that can't listen to him or young people that can. Blue
There are plenty of people on Basschat that are old enough to fit your idea of the correct generation that openly state that they don't get him, go to a bass gear show in the uk and you'll find people in their 20s and younger doing "the Jaco thing" on a fretless. -
A generational thing. I get how young players might not get his once in a lifetime style and approach to the electric bass. However, I will never get or understand how some younger players don't understand his inpact or overall contribution and inspration to thousands of musicians. BTW I'm not a huge Jaco fan. Blue
It's not generational at all, it's not a young vs old thing, there are older people that can't listen to him and younger people that really dig it. -
+ 1 million! His work with Joni was sublime and this is a great example.
Sounds like someone that has just been given a fretless playing over a you tube track to my ears, I keep listening to links hoping I'll find one I enjoy but it hasn't happened yet -
I can.
A wise man once said "aimless noodling" -
great advice - problem is, my 4 string is a *beaut* of a bass and I love her *very* much
So did I, I've sold all my four string basses since making the switch.
straplocks are the biggest con ever. I had some Dunlops and had to keep tightening the straplock onto the strap.....well if I have to do that every time what's different from checking that the strap is on properly? idiotic Grolsch type rubber washer does it for me, plus you get to drink a nice beer
If you were having to keep tightening the Dunlop ones to the strap as they kept coming loose then they weren't Dunlops! Just sayin' as they say
But you only know if it works if you, or someone you trust, has successfully used it. That's what the original question was. It's no use paying for 'peace of mind' if, when push comes to shove, the 'insurers' wriggle out of the claim and you're left hung out to dry. Yes, insurance is worthwhile, as long as it does actually insure. How many folks have paid for insured shipping, only to have claims turned down for whatever reason..? The proof would be if someone could show that it did, in fact, work for them. That's what was asked.
I found reviews from people that had used ampband and been paid out before purchasing it, you can't do much more than that.
I am aware that in this day and age people like suing and making claims but why on earth would you need a PLI? Isn't that what the landlord should cover along other licensing regulations? I understand the tripping hazards etc etc.
They would if you were employed as the house band and on their books, if a builder working at your house damaged your neighbours fence would you be happy to claim on your own insurance or would you want the builder to sort it out directly? It's no different.

That's a real shame, cruel disease.

I've got both and I really like both versions

Great to hear that you are getting out and about more, that's the beauty of music right there
Why not just have it build-in the bass? It would fit the preamp chamber and all that's needed is a cab and a speakon/jack to hook up the bass to the cab! Somebody crazy enough to try this?
-
Logically, we'll all end up storing our amplification in the Cloud. As long as the pub has decent Wi-Fi, there'll be no need for physical backline at all. Or something.
Well.... Here's a thing if all the venues with a house pa had xair type mixers of a standardised model it would be simple for bands to arrive pre mixed with the mix stored on their phone, the sound person could tweak to suit during the much faster sound check and the band could save that mix for that venue ready for next time they play just like my function band does with the digital desk, we have a base setting for new venues or I'll choose one that is similar from the previous gigs i.e. a marquee then save it after and add it to the memory bank, it really is the future -
Full band's equipment stolen - Bristol

What else can a touring band do, sleeping with the kit in the van must be safer than leaving it parked outside the digs like most small touring bands must do? I've seen some great bands in my local theatre that must carry all their kit with them sometimes sleeping in the promoters house between gigs, some bands have come from over seas. I'd like to see some big music shops donate some kit just to get them gigging asap. I'd even chip a few quid in myself if a page was setup. -
What about a stunning Alfa 4c made of composites?

It's one of those situations where you can't really follow it up even if the rules state that the must sell it to you, "I've damaged it trying to package it, sorry", what can anyone do?
I hate cars and driving. I live in Birmingham, which is about 100 miles from London, but I do gig there fairly often. I've done a lot of gigs recently in Bristol, which is about 90 miles away from Birmingham. I can get to both places stress free, and quicker by train than by driving. It does depend whereabouts you are though, and where your gigs are. If you're travelling city to city, then why not travel by train? Next month I'm playing in Birmingham on the 8th, London on the 9th, London again on the 12th, and Bristol on the 14th. I'll be travelling to all of them by train. I think we depend too much on cars, so much so that they've completely taken over our towns and cities, filling them with pollution.
Again it depends what your doing, I presume you won't be taking a full pa system, lights and all your kit on the train will you?
-
If i lost my licence I wouldn't be able to gig where I live, Jam nights in the nearest town would be my best option.
-
Yep and no need to start ringing your home insurance!
-
Yep there's loads of bass to hand, see how many of us here us quite clear amps with a bit of valve grit maybe but anything with lots of bass and then the bass boosted is just too much. When the 2eq is good for the mix you can't beat it imo.
I tried looking for Fender bass models too, but neither Airfix nor Revell make any.
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.instructables.com/id/Build-A-Miniature-Bass-Guitar/%3famp_page=true
