1.
Logically, we'll all end up storing our amplification in the Cloud. As long as the pub has decent Wi-Fi, there'll be no need for physical backline at all. Or something.
Well.... Here's a thing if all the venues with a house pa had xair type mixers of a standardised model it would be simple for bands to arrive pre mixed with the mix stored on their phone, the sound person could tweak to suit during the much faster sound check and the band could save that mix for that venue ready for next time they play just like my function band does with the digital desk, we have a base setting for new venues or I'll choose one that is similar from the previous gigs i.e. a marquee then save it after and add it to the memory bank, it really is the future
2. What else can a touring band do, sleeping with the kit in the van must be safer than leaving it parked outside the digs like most small touring bands must do? I've seen some great bands in my local theatre that must carry all their kit with them sometimes sleeping in the promoters house between gigs, some bands have come from over seas. I'd like to see some big music shops donate some kit just to get them gigging asap. I'd even chip a few quid in myself if a page was setup.
3. What about a stunning Alfa 4c made of composites?
4. It's one of those situations where you can't really follow it up even if the rules state that the must sell it to you, "I've damaged it trying to package it, sorry", what can anyone do?
5.
I hate cars and driving. I live in Birmingham, which is about 100 miles from London, but I do gig there fairly often. I've done a lot of gigs recently in Bristol, which is about 90 miles away from Birmingham. I can get to both places stress free, and quicker by train than by driving. It does depend whereabouts you are though, and where your gigs are. If you're travelling city to city, then why not travel by train? Next month I'm playing in Birmingham on the 8th, London on the 9th, London again on the 12th, and Bristol on the 14th. I'll be travelling to all of them by train. I think we depend too much on cars, so much so that they've completely taken over our towns and cities, filling them with pollution.
Again it depends what your doing, I presume you won't be taking a full pa system, lights and all your kit on the train will you?
6. If i lost my licence I wouldn't be able to gig where I live, Jam nights in the nearest town would be my best option.
7. Yep and no need to start ringing your home insurance!
8. Yep there's loads of bass to hand, see how many of us here us quite clear amps with a bit of valve grit maybe but anything with lots of bass and then the bass boosted is just too much. When the 2eq is good for the mix you can't beat it imo.
9.
I tried looking for Fender bass models too, but neither Airfix nor Revell make any.
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.instructables.com/id/Build-A-Miniature-Bass-Guitar/%3famp_page=true
10.
You're right, y'know... Cheating really, as it's a Gif, but best I can do at short notice...
Perfect
11.
We were thinking of doing this too. Only on some kind of looping MPEG.
That's a cue for a dad mpeg if ever I saw one?....what ya got Douglas?
12. Didn't "missing in action" JTUK's band basically split up and reform with everyone but him then wipe him from the Facebook pages?
13. That's all I needed to know then, thanks. Fame and fortune passes me by once more, back to the covers bands then
14. Had an email regarding a song from years ago that must be floating around on the net somewhere from this company asking for permission to add it to their site and arrange an interview with a band member, reply or delete do you think? Thanks
15. The specialists are more often the ones you need to deal with the specific claim, that's why they are called specialists though. I wouldn't want to claim on my personal home insurance for an incident at a gig, I also wouldn't send my house insurance to wedding venue when specifically asked for PLI.
16.
Most home insurance will cover PLI as long as it's not for your business, trade or profession. So it's worth talking to you insurers exactly what that means if you are not technically running a business. Then get it in writing.
Unless it was a free charity gig I can't see them covering you, I'd actually agree with them too. Typical four piece band is less than £15 a year per member with Ampband, job done all legit.
17. Ampband works out far cheaper than the MU have a look at them.
18. Valve knackered maybe?
19. You gotta do what suits you, I've butchered my USA Jazz bass and now I use it all the time as it suits me more now.
20. Nah I was talking about another band, that's w*** Ha only joking.
21. Just heard a clip of EBS_freaks band live with at least two of the five members depped afaik, better than any band I've been in by a mile! A sh*t hot band with sh*t hot deps is still better than an average band with it's full compliment of average practiced players, the reality is most of us are in average bands, that's actually what makes them the average
22.
How come all you guys play covers????
You can do both, there's no law against it
23.
Beautiful The sound of a Ray with the look and feel of a Jazz? I don't see how you can really go wrong. I've been toying with the idea of asking Maruscyk to do something similar for me.
The only thing I would add would be a Musicman wheel of fortune truss rod adjuster, so much easier, oh and a B string
