1.
Possible suicide?!?! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-39960066
Wouldn't that just be the natural course of events if anyone aged 52 and fit as a fiddle dies?
2. I'm not convinced unless it's macca.
3. There's a few people on here using a pair of the already quite tall vertical Genz 2x12T 4 ohm cabs with the Genz shuttle 12.0 heads which put 600watt into each cab separately at the same time, talk about trouser flapping! 4x12 vertical, 1200 watts and two adjustable tweeters, lovely.
4.
Waiting for the first smart meter hack that under-reports usage..... Update - already done..
I had a digital gas meter, only 8 years old maximum at the time as we've only had mains gas in the village since 2000,they wrote to me saying "it's reached the end of it's serviceable life", when the guy came to swap it for a standard old style one he said people have worked out that if the battery goes flat the reading is lost then it's impossible to charge them! those people have worked out a way of making the battery go flat.
5.
Yes, I was more than gobsmacked to've just read that in the online Guardian. Soundgarden were the only band from the grunge scene i like, definitely a cut above.Saw them a few years ago playing Brum. A quality. live act. .
Was that the gig where both Ampegs failed and he gave the bass away to a friend in the audience?
6. Biggest shocking one since Kurt for me, my immediate circle of proper friends from school, college and uni etc are all massive fans, most of us passed our driving tests between around 1993-1995 so most journeys involved some sound garden, not crashing a car while air drumming to rusty cage is a skill in itself! In fact I think my friend might have crashed his Nissan micra through a hedge whilst enjoying some sound garden. Ah man
7. If it was the drummer I suppose it would be similar to playing to a click, drummer doesn't have any live fold back and plays to his/her click or along with the backing track then the group play along with the drums being streamed, as long as the drummer and track had a count in it wouldn't matter as long as you are streaming it one way if you like?
8. Totally pissed off at this one! His new solo stuff sounded really good to me, properly shocked
9. I still see musicman as stingrays only* *I still fancy a big Al 5 SSS though
10.
My Jaydee Supernatural had a mini toggle switch between the volume & tone controls for the active circuit.
Yes I've seen a switch as well as the Jack just like a push pull active passive switch but they've still got the stereo Jack, leaving one on passive would stop the drain though I'd think, no such option on a genuine musicman though.
11. Everyone knows the audio business is a cut throat environment to work in.
12. You're both wrong it was "Adequate"
13. Try comparing their twin blade razor to a single blade one! You can't comment on the results or any packaging claims until you have your own range of razors in the market place though
14. I must admit I've never understood the concept of why someone should have to make their own better version of anything to be allowed to question a manufacturers specs?
15. I keep a pointy stick for barefaced threads, when it goes quiet I give them a prod Tbf that is the claim made that the barefaced fans above said they couldn't see anywhere.
16. I don't understand the charts really but I can read so comparing a BF 12" against any other 12" is neither here nor their when we should be comparing it against two from another manufacturer! Alex's words, "In short: If you want to compare like for like performance, compare one of our 12"s with TWO of anyone else's 12"s" So let's see these charts please
17. I've started using a single 12 on stage tilted back and a clanky eq, pre eq to the full range PA. The only solution to dispersion around the whole stage is in ears really.
18. I can't recall seeing any preamp that doesn't use the jack to switch it on and off? For anyone interested it's a clever way of doing it imo, they use a stereo jack TRS, (tip, ring & sleeve) but where a stereo end plugged in would contact in the three places a standard phono we use on our leads shorts out the R & S (ring and sleeve) to complete the power circuit from the onboard battery, simple but effective. T-bay I presume you are testing from a battery terminal with an inline ammeter? As the amplifier circuit isn't amplifying anything the drain will be minimal, I bet a stingray will last for months plugged in if you don't mind buying 2 or 3 batteries a year instead of the 1 most of use Ray players use?
19. http://www.scotsman.com/news/cash-generator-branch-boss-jailed-after-selling-stolen-goods-worth-163-50k-1-1589006
20.
Thanks everyone for the kind comments and birthday wishes! Yes - I have wonderful friends. I understand it took many hours to make. But it tasted as good as it looks! All the best to those of you who will be turning the same corner very soon Drop hints now about bass cakes!
I'm thinking about a double bass cake now!
21.
And that is of course exactly how it should be dealt with. So for all of you who claim that CC are a bunch of crooks and routinely knowingly handle stolen goods, I am an ex CC manager and we ALWAYS wound up losing whatever we had paid for anything that showed up stolen when the real owner came in and claimed them.
I'm not disputing that you don't return the goods, the guy on here last time went in with the police and the police and the store were more than familiar with the seller. If you've done all your checks properly you can then take the seller to court.
22. I unplug anyway too even if it's passive.
23.
You don't mention if you had insured the items and if yes, did the insurance company pay your claim. If yes then the items belong to the insurance company and you should notify them. N
This is exactly what happened, the vehicle had been stolen over a year earlier and the owners had been paid out so it now belonged to the insurer who offered it at a decent price, obviously it was then cat D too. It actually turned out to be a good van over a good few years.
24.
I'll put my hands up. Ownership is wrong, what I should be saying is that a claim against the seller for monies lost is the issue. I obviously got the 'wrong end of the ownership stick' on this. If you've been £4k out of pocket Pete for something stolen you bought in good faith (it seems that cars are a different matter) then you should have redress against the seller. I was advised while in the 'job' by someone experienced and in authority that ownership wasn't to be assumed to be the original owner in such cases and I took this as gospel. Just goes to show you can't always trust a copper.
The vehicle was stolen and sold on by what turned out to be travellers, they used someone else's house to sell it from where the owner was on holiday, the sellers children were watching tv in their pyjamas in the front room! That's the trouble with the getting the cash back bit from thieves isn't it? They don't tend to wait for you to come back
25.
And (as a currently practicing solicitor) the analogy drawn with cars is erroneous, as there is specific legislation which deals with vehicles sold without notice of a finance agreement. The legal principle is 'nemo date non quod habet' which means that a vendor cannot sell what he does not have good title to. There are various statutory and case law provisions relating to this but in general the innocent buyer cannot acquire good title in stolen goods.
Ignoring the finance agreement the same rules apply don't they? If it's not yours to sell it's not your property be it on finance, loan or owned outright someone somewhere owns it that hasn't given permission to sell it.
