S'manth sold me her Roland Cube which was delivered incredibly quickly and was exactly as described. Thanks again S'manth. Highly recommended

Just being silly. The fact your head was hidden by the PA Speaker made me think of the blacked out faces on old army photos 😄

Lovely basses. Are you in the SAS by any chance?

Any music shops (good for basses) in Newcastle?

The Guitar Guitar isn't the biggest store but the guys are helpful and friendly. -

I think these AV's are a newer iteration of the old AV basses. The ones I've seen I've been really impressed with and they seem to be pretty faithful reproductions in terms of fit and finish. The AO's were slightly different in that they weren't year-specific (I.e. not 62 or 64, but 60's) so they were a bit of a mash up of all years and any variations. Similarly they did away with period correct neck radius and a few other things. I liked them, but they weren't really vintage reissues as such. -
You can’t do that to your song!!

I always think playing your hit(s) must feel a bit like this: -
The other alternative is earlpilanz on EBay. He's made some pickguards for me in the past. He asks for the original to be sent to use as a template but he's very quick and the quality is excellent. It might be worth dropping him a line.

Have you tried Bass Direct at all?

If you do, there's a good template for fitting the bridge cover someone on Talkbass posted. It saved me some trepidation when I fitted the cover on my P Bass! -
They're also known as The Boner due to the well, long horn. I recall they were a late 80's- early 90's model.

This was a bit of a spur of the moment decision but after seeing it on Thomann's B-Stock page at a very good price I thought I'd chance my arm. I've been looking for a lightweight bass for a while now due to back and hip problems as a result of lots of rugby and recently tried (and returned) an Epiphone Newport. I had bid on a Pelham Blue Jack Casady recently that sadly was withdrawn but was unsure of how the body shape would sit on me with a 34" scale neck. Anyway, I had one of these Guilds before and foolishly decided to move it on, so when one came up in Pelham Blue and weighing in at under 7lbs I decided to go for it. It arrived today and after a bit of minor tweaking (mainly pickup height) I strung it with a set of TI Flats which "just" about work from a length perspective (slightly too long on the G) it's ready to go and sounds great. For a B-Stock instrument I can't see a mark on it. After a break from short scales I'm really pleased the way this one hangs on a strap. -
Is a new mass-produced bass ever worth more than £1500

£2,999 for a Stingray. I love Stingrays but that is just nuts... -
Amen Brother from another Mother. I'd definitely add Knockin On Heaven's Door to my list of "only if you pay me danger money" songs.

Coolest bass lines using the fewest notes.

Still love this one. Just perfect to my ears -
Been there seen it and done it, sometimes without even trying the bass out in its original spec. Goodness knows why, I guess it's a case of idle hands and good old peer pressure. It's something I stopped doing a good few years ago and certainly don't feel any of my basses are any worse off because I haven't dicked about with them. Whatever floats your boat though but must admit, if a bass is advertised with countless mods I generally leave them well alone (especially if the original parts aren't included).

To be honest I hadn't noticed that on the Sandberg, but then I'm not that observant and only found out last week my wife didn't work at Woolworths anymore.

So I've recently managed to condense my bass collection down to four basses, one of which I've had for over 30 years and the others that have been relatively recent acquisitions. While having a quick play with them yesterday I had a familiar warm fuzzy feeling that I usually get when I'm with old mates and have had a few beers. It was a feeling of genuine affection for them and one that I've never really had before with all the (many many) basses I've owned previously. Should I be worried? Is this the end of the road for me in terms of buying and selling? I may need to phone my doctor on Monday for an appointment and for all your sakes (and for the sake of the economy) I really hope it's not contagious. I'm thinking of changing our house name to Dunbuyin. Please think of me in your prayers tonight.

Using 2 different basses into 1 amp input
Old Horse Murphy replied to oldslapper's topic in General Discussion
I use a Radial Bigshot I/o instrument selector and a preamp pedal to sort out differing levels etc. I've also got a couple of these for sale which might do the trick or at least allow you to experiment to see if it all works.
