1. My latest P Bass acquisition. It's a Fender Custom Shop 55 P Bass. Typically superb Custom Shop construction and plays wonderfully.
2. I played a fair few acoustic sets with a Fretless P Bass strung with Flats/Nylon covered strings Ad. It gives a very warm almost acoustic sound that fits in very well without being too far out of my comfort zone (IE using an acoustic or Upright bass).
3. I was fortunate enough to buy Si's Fender Custom Shop 55 P bass. It's a stunning bass and I'm delighted with it. He even took the time to drop it off in person. Highly recommended
4. Hi Lou Still looking forward to seeing you and The Daintees next April in Putney
5. For sale is a beautiful Fender Japan 62 Reissue Bass with unlined rosewood neck in a sonic blue/surf green factory finish. To be honest, I can't decide on the colour. It's definitely got a greeny hue and looks wonderful in the flesh. The bass is lightweight (approx 8.5lbs) and plays wonderfully; easily the best fretless I've owned. It has been fitted with a Seymour Duncan SPB1 vintage sounding pickup and is fitted with TI Flats. The pickup is a bit earthy, but easily fixed. Basically, my soldering iron is not hot enough to earth the electrics particularly well. Overall condition is very good. It has a few indents/dings (one between the second and third fret position and a few on the lower edge of the body). None of them affect playability and are difficult to photograph although I've tried my best. This hasn't had much use recently but I've always had great compliments about the sound. I'l also include a used set of Fender Nylon flats with the sale. It doesn't come with a gig bag but will be well packaged if necessary. I'm looking for £510 for this. It is a very unusual fretless bass (you won't see many around) and easily compares to the new American Fenders in terms of build quality.
6. By way of an update I am considering letting this one go It's not had a great deal of use recently and has a dry solder somewhere (its a bit earthy and is due to my rubbish soldering iron). It does play and sound wonderful though
7. I'd let the G50 System go for £230 posted, including one of the belt holders.
8. For sale is a Fender USA High Mass bridge (4 string) from one of the new series Fender American basses. It's in superb condition and allows for through-body and end of bridge stringin. It's also a direct replacement (no mods needed) for the 51/54 Reissue P Basses- £35 inc P&P Also for sale is a Fender plastic thumbrest. Again it's in superb condition- £5 inc P&P
9. Here's my fretless Fender P Bass. Best fretless I've played
10. What did you buy Dave? Don't keep me in suspenders.....
11. I've tried both and prefer the Stack knobs as it gives you more tonal variety than just the one tone knob for each pickup. Not entirely sure why Fender changed other than maybe for cost reasons.
12. Definitely rosewood Andy. Jazz basses don't look right with maple necks IMHO (Luddite that I am) Nice contrast with the Natural body too. Alternatively, a nice Surf Green like my Jazz bass
13.
Nick, do you want to try a Schroeder 21012 or a 1212L?
HI Dave As a trade or just to try? Cheers Nick
14. I met Steve for the first time last weekend for a trade. A top guy to deal with, hassle free and highly recommended
15. Strange one today. The singer booked us an afternoon/early evening gig near Oxted (4pm-7pm). I must admit, I was rather dubious and had a feeling we'd either being playing to a group of diners or an empty pub. I was totally wrong. It was a great gig. The place was jumping and we've been invited back again. I went back to my Genz Benz gear and honestly wonder now why I ever moved away from it. The sound was great and my keyboard player sound how much he liked the tone. I played my Fender CS Jazz plugged straight in to the Streamliner with just a small cut on the high mids and it sounded wonderful
16. Bump for super-low price. I won't let it go for less than this.
17. I am looking at purchasing a Digital/Electronic Piano (88 keys, full sized, weighted keys etc) but have no experience whatsoever when it comes to such things. I'm not interested in a whole host of sounds or millions of features; just something of a decent quality that sounds like a piano should (or as close as possible). I don't mind new or used and my budget is just shy of say £850. If anyone has any recommendations they would be gratefully received
18. Thanks Tony I'm pretty sure the Sonic Blue one is the same as when I visited. If it is, it's a superb bass and it took me an age to decide between the 2 of them
19.
Got a Marshall 1x15 from the '80s. 250w Celestion Sidewinder. Easy lift with the side handles or Yorkville 1x15 300w This cab was v 'spensive when new. Lighter, but lower = have to bend to lift. or Mate has been offering his Hartke 410XL cab. Best series. Sounds lively.
Thanks for the reply. All a bit too heavy for me and/or not really looking for 15's at the moment
20. For sale is a recently- acquired Ampeg SVT410HLF with hand made Silverstone heavy duty cover. It's in superb condition apart from a scuff at the bottom of the cab front under the grille and sounds wonderful. Honestly, it's too big for what I'm looking for and I've recently found out that I may need a small op on my back and the 38kg weight is a bit too much. What a sound though! I'm looking for £310 collected but will meet up a reasonable distance from home (based near Woking). Pics available but can't be uploaded unfortunately
