Number 6 of 60 has just arrived Not everyone's cup of tea for sure. A bit of fun and hopefully an investment too

The guitar solo on Lyle Lovett's North Dakota (starts about 3:29 in to the song). Simple but possibly the most hauntingly beautiful thing I've ever heard.

I saw this the other night and really enjoyed it. The 2 of them seemed to genuinely like each other and the banter (along with the stories and music) was very good.

For sale is a set of Sadowsky flatwound (black label) flatwound strings (45-130t) bass stings with a tapered B string. These are virtually new and have been put on to my Musicman Stingray 5 string and taken straight off again. I guess they would fit any bass that has a 4 + 1 tuner layout. I had to import these strings. They really are superb, just not for me at this time! £25 inc p&p

I've just taken delivery of a MM Stingray 5 String and it is easily one of the best basses I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Playability is superb, but I'm a little underwhelmed by the preamp. Coming from a background of playing mostly passive basses and in particular P basses, I am looking for a warm sounding, not too boomy sound (particularly on the B String) and I don't seem to be able to dial in the sound I have in my head. Are there any replacement preamps out there that could give me the sound I'm looking for?

Old Horse Murphy replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Basses For Sale
Ooooooo pretty. I want, I want, I want. Shame I can't afford it right now :-( Humour me though, does it play and sound as good as it looks?
No mate, it's an absolute Dog....... Seriously, it's a wonderful sounding and playing bass -
I just recently bought this but unfortunately I've just acquired a Stingray 5 string so this has to go. Its an early 90's Fender HMT Bass. Basically it's a semi-acoustic P Bass with a Jazz profile neck. It weighs approx 7lbs and is wonderfully balanced and a joy to play. This bass has been well used and as a result has a few marks on it (pictured where possible). The Silver Lace sensor pickup works fine and gives everything from a grindy P bass sound through to a woody, semi-acoustic mellow tone. The Piezo doesn't work at the moment, but I'm sure this is a loose connection and an easy fix as it's unbalanced I never used this anyway as it had quite a harsh sound). The original stovepipe knobs have been replaced with wooden controls which I think look a whole lot better. It also comes in a nice Ritter gigbag and is strung with flatwounds. These are now discontinued and becoming quite rare and sought after. Here are the specs from Fender: Top: Figured Maple

Back and Sides: Basswood
Scale: 34 1/8"
Nut Width: 1 1/2"
Serial Number: J025013
Fretboard: Rosewood
Headstock Shape: Angled peghead without scroll at top
Headstock Overlay: Bold Script Logo
Inlays: Triangular sharkstooth inlay
Pickup(s): Silver Lace Sensor pickup with Precision-style split-coil configuration, Plezo bridge pickup
Made in Japan
Weight: 7 lbs
I'm looking for £310 inc P&P.

For sale is a Musicman Stingray/Sterling hardcase (suitable for 4 and 5 string basses). It's in overall very good condition apart from a bit of damage on one corner (pictured). There's a small crack and a dent which could be easily repaired with a glue gun and certainly doesn't affect the integrity or structure of the case. I'm looking for £55 inc delivery or £50 collected. Im currently in Portsmouth so can't take any other pictures but the case (apart form the damage shown) is in great nick.

I'm currently borrowing a SR5 from a mate of mine (34" scale) and want to string it with flatwounds. I've had a SR5 in the past but struggled with the tuning/intonation of the B string when I've used flats. Any recommendations for the best, highest tension flatwounds I could try?

I had a Zilla Thiele 2 x 12 that I bought off of Voxpop on here. He commissioned it and spent ages in selecting the right speakers etc. It was a superb cab, just a bit too heavy for my requirements

3-Tone Sunburst P-bass, Maple or Rosewood finger board?
Old Horse Murphy replied to jackers's topic in Bass Guitars
Sorry, it has to be Sunburst, rosewood and tortoiseshell. I'm pretty sure there was a law passed to this effect. Anything else is just unnatural and slightly perverse -
