1.
Hi Nick, Wondering if this could be a natural match for my 1975 which seems to have a jazz type rosewood neck What is the width at the nut please ? Is it a A,B,C neck ?
HI mate It's a B width neck. Cheers
2. Thanks very much for the kind words. It was natural right from the very beginning
3. Due to unforeseen circumstances (nothing onerous, just a new opportunity ) I am putting up my 1974 Fender P bass up for sale/trade. It is in wonderful condition and there is very little wear at all on the body (hardly any on the body whatsoever) or the neck (other than the marks down the treble side of the neck as is common on maple fingerboards of this era). It also weighs in at 8lbs 8, so is incredibly comfortable. The bass is a 74 P bass, but the body and the electrics actually date back to 1973, so it's a turn of the year bass (either a Sagittarius or a Capricorn). Everything is in fully working order and I was told by a reputable source who supplied this bass that it is all-original apart from the pickguard screws. It also comes with a WD Music black 70's P Bass pickguard. It's really clean and I think you would struggle to find one is such good condition easily. THe neck and frets are again in great condition and the Trussrod works perfectly with no issues. The Bass is strung with D'Addario Chromes and plays superbly and sounds absolutely ace There are more detailed pictures here: http://s945.photobuc...urphy/P%20Bass/ I had the bass taken apart before I bought it to check for the usual marks etc. and can supply pics of all the guts and neck etc. if required and would welcome inspection of the Bass. Due to the condition of this Bass (it really is that good), I'm looking for £1,450 or would accept trades with: 2 EQ Stingray, Rickenbacker 4003 plus a bit of cash my way, Fender USA 5 String Jazz bass (new series), Status S2 Markbass CMD121P plus cash my way.
4. Iain sold me a Bass Max pickup and Fishman Platinum Pro. The both arrived safely and in record time. Thanks Iain
5. For sale is a set of genuine Fender P Bass chrome covers (pickup and bridge) complete with screws. There's no age to these and they are in very good condition. Looking for £25 inc P&P
6.
Is this digital because with the switch over coming, all analogue wireles kits like the WMS Pro 40 aren't going to be usable? I've got the WMS Pro 40 bug system and i'm going to have to basically throw it in the bin because of the change over
Here's the description from the AKG website. It looks like this unit will be fine post-2012. "The AKG WMS40 MINI wireless instrument and guitar transmitter operates on UHF frequencies un-affected by the 2012 UK wireless frequency switchover"
7. For sale is a virtually brand new wireless guitar system. I've only used this once, but it really is something that really is surplus to requirements This is in superb condition and comes with all the packaging. It's the UK model too so all frequencies are legal. THis is a superb bit of kit and details can be found here: http://www.soundsliv...-WMS40MINI-INST I'm looking for £70 plus £3 P&P
8.
PM'd
And replied Thanks Iain
9.
Thanks! So I'm assuming that the truss rod has been inserted the opposite way round if the bit you stick your tool into is near the body. No innuendos intended by the way, that just happened to be the simplest way to explain it when the proper terminology goes right out of your head!
That's my understanding of how it works. Just remember to go slowly and not turn too much all in one go; let the neck settle down a bit
10. First gig last night with my new Band and also first gig with my 73 P Bass and Markbass/Epifani rig. It all sounded great and I had a few compliments about my sound Everything went really well and we had a reasonably large appreciative crowd and lots of dancers too. It's a shame they were all under the age of 6, but it has given us an idea of branching out in to Kids Parties All in all a good day
11. I managed to source a black 70's pickguard and fitted it this week. Personally I much prefer the black pickguard but have kept the white one safe and sound
12. Just met up with John in another dodgy Layby deal which saw him take possession of my Jazz Bass. A really nice guy and 100% reliable- thanks a lot John
13. My recently acquired 1973 P Bass. It's beautifully light and almost spotless
14. Just conducted my 150th transaction with Dave I bought back my Epifani 2x12 Cab, had a quick drink and a good catch up. As always, he was a pleasure to deal with. Thanks again Dave
15. For sale is a virtually new Markbass Traveller 151P Bass cab with custom made Roqsolid cover. This was bought by me on 28th September this year (receipt will be included) and has never left the house. After buying OBBM's Epifani UL212, one Markabss 151P will be enough for any gigs where I need a smaller cab. It is a superbly built and great sounding cab that weighs in at 16.9Kg!! I am happy to post but would rather a meet up or buyer collects. The cheapest I can find these is for £499. This one is just over a month old and is a significant saving on a new one. I'm looking for £420. Here is the technical spec: IMPEDANCE 8 ohms SPEAKER SIZE 1x15 in. POWER HANDLING 400W RMS (AES Standard) CROSSOVER FREQUENCY 3.5 kHz FREQUENCY RESPONSE 40 Hz to 18 kHz SENSITIVITY 100 dB SPL WEIGHT 37.3 lbs / 16.9 kg HEIGHT 18.3 in. / 46.4 cm WIDTH 23.39 in. / 59.4 cm DEPTH 17.05 in. / 43.3 cm
16. Thanks for the offers. Unfortunately I'm looking for a straight sale only
17. I have had dealings with Mr Stroud in the past and not only is he a superb Bass Player (I wish I had your CV Pete!) he's a really nice guy too. I wish I had the funds. This bass looks superb Cheers Nick
18.
Nice one Nick, I have a '72 that I really like. Has yours got the narrow J width nut?
Hi Barrie It's a standard B width neck but very comfortable
19. For sale is a Markbass Traveller 102P Cab (8 ohm) including a Roqsolid cover. I bought this just over 3 months ago as an alternative to pairing my Markbass Traveller rig with another 2x10 cab. Unfortunately, as is often the way, something else came up It's in great condition and has been very well looked after. It pushes out 400w at 8 ohms and weighs in at 15kgs!! The cheapest I can find these for is £550. Mine is in great condition for considerably less Yours for £430. I'll get pics up ASAP.
20. Thank you for all the kind comments I think I'll keep the white pickguard for a while. It was strung with D'Addario Chromes this morning and has just been gigged by me for the first time. Very comfortable, light and sounds wonderful What a superb neck with gorgeous figuring too. I'm very happy.
21. Here's my latest acquisition; a 74 P bass (body and pots are late 1973). I've been told it's all original apart from the pickguard screws. I think I may well get a black pickguard for it as I prefer the look. The white guard is actually the right colour on natural Fenders of this era though. It's in superb condition (has the usual wear on the edges on the maple fingerboard) and weighs a very comfortable 8lbs 8oz too In fact, I'd go as far to say it's in wonderful condition overall and the body is a gorgeous colour. I won't pretend for 1 minute that it's a keeper forever and ever, but it is certainly going to be hanging arounds for a while!
