  1. For sale is an immaculate Stringray Special 5 String in Raspberryburst with ebony fingerboard, case and all the candy. It weighs in a 8 3.8kg (8 1/2lbs) and was built on 21st November 2021. I bought this new around 6 months ago and due to a change in band dynamics it has been gigged once, so is in pristine condition (as is the case and the unopened accessories). It has a nice low action and plays beautifully. These retail currently for £2,899 new. I'm looking for £1,900 posted fully insured. No trades please.
  2. For sale is a 2021 Fender American Original 50's P Bass in 2-tone sunburst with gold pickguard. It comes with a G&G tweed case, all the candy and ashtrays that I had fitted. It's strung with Fender Flats but also comes with the roundwounds that it was originally supplied with. It even comes with the original shipping box. It's in immaculate condition apart from a tiny nick on the pickguard near the truss rod (pictured). I've owned it from new and it was bought from GAK. It plays and sounds as beautifully as you'd expect but sadly I have three other P Basses and need to recover some money unfortunately. It weighs 8lbs 4oz so if very nice and light. I'm looking for £1,400 posted but am travelling to Southampton on Wednesday night for two days so could take to with me for a hand over. No trades please.
  3. Glad the Jazz is going strong Col. I still miss that 76 P Bass I sold you!
  4. Goodness 😮 I think I'm going to faint. Mother, where's my laudanum?
  5. Not sure to go the whole Sting with this and keep the pickguard off. Well, it's got to be easier than tantric sex...less screws for a start.
  6. That pretty-much sums up my own experience with the 54 (except mine is in Sunburst). Interestingly enough mine weighs the same too.
  7. It was quite noisy and was humming when I first got it and when I took the plate off there was a loose earth wire. A bit of soldering and it was absolutely fine
  8. It's not too bad, I've certainly had noisier basses. That said, I'd definitely avoid strip lights and dimmer switches!
  9. Lovely. I've got one very similar but in sunburst. I prefer the natural though.
  10. If you don't think you can return it and it's definitely caused by nut slots being cut too low, a bit of bicarb of soda and superglue mixed together can be used to build up a nut slot carefully. It can then be filed again to suit. I've used this method before a few times and it's worked like a dream.
  11. Thanks. Initial thoughts are that it's fab. Action was quite high for me when it arrived (Fenders always are for my taste) but intonation was pretty-much spot on and the overall finish of the bass is excellent. It came strung with Fender flats which was a nice touch but I'll replace them as they're a bit too taut for my open preference.
  12. Well, I did this; a 54 Reissue and it's lovely. I had a Sting Sig for ages and loved it apart from the stupid inlay so I decided to raid the gig funds and treat myself following a bit of very good news. It's got the Serial Number of V022 so it must be one of the first ones finished. It also comes with a bizarre warning/disclaimer from Fender about the ashtrays... Here it is with my AO 58 P Bass.
