1. Nice one Gary and a hugely deserved treat for yourself given what you've been through. I hope it's the start of a whole heap of better things to come
2.
If it is a working instument and you wish to play it, get it refretted. If not maybe you should just forget about it.
+1. If it's a keeper Clarky and they way it is currently set up and sounds impedes your pleasure to play it, then get it sorted mate. No point in having it otherwise
3. This has been at my Mum's house for several years now until she made me reclaim it the other day! I bought this over 5 years ago for a project that never materialised and asked my Mum to look after it along with a few other bits while we moved house. Overall it's in very good condition and works fine. Intonation is good and it has been strung with a set of D'Addario Chromes. It's a 34" scale too. The neck is fine and the trussrod works as it should. The aciton is a little high to give it more of Double Bass sound but playing isn't hampered by this. The pre amp and electrics work fine. The output on the E string is a little quieter than the other strings. Apparently this is quite common on these basses and is a relatively simple fix (adjusting the E string saddle) but given I haven't looked at it for a few years I don't really have the inclination to try and sort it out myself. The specs are: AMB-50B Acoustic Bass Top Flamed Maple Back & Sides ABS Fiber Neck Mahogany Fingerboard Rosewood Bridge Rosewood Hardware Wood Pickups PZP-3 Piezo Controls AEQ-41 EQ Yours for £70 picked up or meet somewhere as it doesn't come with a gigbag or trade for a dcent Envelope Filter or Compressor.
4.
This is sweeeet!
Thanks mate I'd also consider a P/X with a Fender Kingman Acoustic bass, Washburn Acoustic bass or similar
5. Killian's is a superb pub with a great atmosphere. Take a fan though as it gets VERY hot!!
6.
Always loved the look/sound of these and this one looks superb. What has always put me off in the past was the horrible bridges. Top upgrade OHM, far too tempting . Karl.
Thanks Karl Bump for price drop
7. My first bass was one of these bought from the classified ads in the local paper. It cost me £30 I think and had been refinished in black car paint about 2 inches thick. I dread to think how long ago that was but we must be talking 25 years.
8. Bump- would consider p/x's for a decent Envelope Filter, Octaver and /or a well-estsblished pedalboard Or an Acoustic Bass
9. I bought a Fender Marcus Miller from AJ and he's a great guy to deal with. The bass was even better than described and came with a whole host of extras. Highly recommended and wishing you the best for your final year at Uni
10.
For those of you that know me I had a pretty torid time following major surgery exactly 2 years ago which has precluded me from any serious gigging. Finally things have settled down so I was startiing to look for a band when I was recently contacted by a local drummer to see if I wanted to join a band he was putting together. We finally we got together in a rehearsal studio last night and spent almost 4 hours running through loads of numbers. It's heavy blues covers by the like of Joe Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, SRV, etc. plus some blues standards, Clapton, Cream and Free numbers for good measure. Three of the four of us are retired so there are a good few years experience. Now we've got to sort a set, nail it and find some gigs. It's great to be back playing again. As for gear I used the Shuker PJ5 which I grow to like the more I play it, Orange AD200B and an Epi 2x12. Weighty, but nice tone.
Well done Dave You'll have to PM me when you start gigging and I'll pop along. Glad to hear some of my old kit is getting some action too
11. I'm currently looking to trade a Fender 51 Reissue P Bass for a Fender Jazz and have been advised to look at the Fender Geddy Lee in my search. I don't know much about them but would be keen to hear some opinions about them
12. Bump to confirm this is the original type of P bass single coil pickup Similar in shape to a Fender Strat pickup andnadded Seymour Duncan Antiquity 51 P bass pickup- as new for £60 plus £2 P@P
13. For trade is a superb Fender 51 Reissue P Bass in stunning 2 tone sunburst. It's in superb condition (1 small ding on the lower horn not through the paint) and weighs approximately 8lbs, so super-light too. It comes with fitted ashtray covers (the pickup cover isn't screwed down in the first pic so may look a bit wonky!), a Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickup and a Fender USA Deluxe bridge (allowing for through-body and bridge string loading). These bridges are retro-fit and require alteration for installation. It has a nice, fast, low action. It sounds wonderful too! These extras cost a fair bit but I think are great additions to the bass. Price is: £540 inc the SD Antiquity pickup plus the original pickup £520 with the SD Antiquity pickup £490 for original pickup £20 P&P including insurance Thanks for looking

15. I've decided to fit the chrome pickup covers to one o fmy 51 P basses and need a bit of advice on placement (are there any templates or measurements available?) and also how to stop the painwork getting damaged when I drill the hole. Any help woul dbe much appreciated
16. I got one on Saturday along with the 15" Traveller and gigged it that night on it's own. Good output and can be tipped length ways for better monitoring.
17.
Nick, I am looking at exactly the same rig as you apart from the head which I am looking at either an F1 or a LMIII. Can I bring my Ray round and have a play as I am really usure if I should sell my Aggy cabs for MarkBass ones???
Of course you can mate
18. I've just bought the Markbass Traveller 2 x 10 and 1 x 15 to go with my Little Mark Tube 800. To say I am happy is a total understatement. Anyone want to buy an Epifani UL115 going cheap?
19. I normally don't "do" pedals but for a few of our songs an Envelope Filter/wah and a Phaser would fit the bill perfectly. I'm not too good and setting pedals up with millions of knobs etc so I'm looking for something relatively easy to set up.I am not looking for top of the range boutique pedals but would be grateful for any advice and suggestions. Thanks
20. I met Mark this afternoon for one of those dodgy Services deals! A lovely guy and a pleasure to deal with. It's a shame we didn't have longer to talk. Thanks Mark
21. Here are 3 of mine. There's also a Sting Bass (pictured elsewhere in this thread) and another Butterscotch 51 that is going to be delivered to its new owner tomorrow. One Trick Pony? Moi?
22. I am selling a Fender Japan 51 Reissue P Bass pickup- £35 inc P&P. Also for sale is a Fender 51 reissue bridge in superb condition- £17.50 inc P&p Seymour Duncan Antiquity 51 P Bass pickup with all packaging- as new for £60 plus £2 P&P
