I am not trying to rip of anybody Robert
Old Horse Murphy replied to richardd's topic in Basses For Sale
I have dealt with Richard in the past and I can say with 100% confidence he is a decent guy and not a rip-off merchant. If he didn't advertise this bass as a HW1 it would have been because he didn't know it was a HW1, I am sure. So lets stop kicking the man
Totally agree with Clarky here and would hate to see a long-standing member of the Basschat community beaten up over what is a genuine mistake. Rich is a lovely guy and 100% honest and a pleasure to deal with. Time to put the high horses in the stables for the night. -

I've been after a band like that for ages and thought I'd found one recently. JJ Cale, Eagles, Little Feat were all mentioned. Unfortunately the wider setlist included Mustang Sally, Duffy and "crowd pleasers". I was offered the gig. Hmmm.... -
Thank you for all of your kind comments....... I own a few of the six string variety, and while there is little on them to pick fault with, their bass brothers are (in my opinion) perfect from top to bottom. Yes, I would have liked to have seen vintage style tuners (full size back plates....is that the right word?), but these work fine. I love the Jazz Bass too, even in white, but I would grab a sunburst if they made one. I am a real sucker for fiesta red, but I am also paying homage to my late friend Jet Harris (of 'The Shadows' fame), who owned one very similar to this in 1962. He inspired me to take up the bass after watching him play his 'Nivram' solo. I am a relative newbie to bass playing, but I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into this new beauty (though I do see a bad case of Bass GAS heading my way).
And are/were you a Rock Ape?
hay man what happen with the bass was it not your cup of tea in the end of the day :/ hope you find what you want
Hi mate. It's a superb bass and the build quality and playability is better than pretty much any other bass I've owned. Just struggling with the extra string due to my hand/forearm injury from a while ago
As tempting as that is, it's on its way back to Bulgaria due to a trade that fell through so I won't have any trade bait. Ah well, nevermind eh? Truckstop edit: and I've just realised/remembered you already have one and are possibly being facetitious!
I was being serious. I had a potential modding idea

I picked this up in a trade plus cash (from me) recently and it is a superb bass. It's a Sandberg PM5 Custom Shop in a gorgeous yellowed colour and has been sympathetically reliced. Build quality, playability and sounds are amazing and it has got to be one of the best put-together basses I've had in my mitts. The Delano pickups and preamp are superb and the range of tones available from the P Bass pickup and the MM pickup will surely cover everything you would need. I've measured the scale from nut to bridge and it's the same as my Fender P bass. Due to a hand/arm injury, I have problems playing a 5 string bass Weight-wise I would say it's 9lbs (ish) but can check later. The pickup blend pot is a bit scratchy and could probably due with resoldering or cleaning and I have taken this in to account with the price. Now traded

Just took ownership of a Sandberg Reliced PM5 in a trade
3 words......Status Streamline 5 (well 2 words and a number). TBH I've given up on Fives because theyre generally too heavy for me, or if its a light one (<9lbs) then I've hated the neck dive on the ones Ive had. So, the Streamline 5 is prbably the only 5 I'd ever consider. Hope it works out Nick.
It's not the weight Mart. Its the additional string. I'll see how I go but maybe 4 is the magic number -

Thanks for all the comments It's a phenomenal bass but not sure whether I'm beginning to feel the old problems in my arm due to the 5 strings.... TIme will tell -
Not everyones cup of tea I know, but I have just traded a Fender USA Jazz bass for a Sandberg reliced PM5. I always regretted selling my PM4 a while back, so when the chance came to own another one I didn't hesitate. The colour is wonderful and the relicing (like it or not) is very well done. Supreme build quality, superb playability and sounds and very lightweight too. I'm really pleased

I bought 2 tickets for me and my Dad to go to the annual Lee Brilleaux memorial concert on 6th May at the Oysterfleet hotel, Canvey Island. Sadly due to work commitments I can't make it. This is the 15th or 16th annual concert and is a great day/night. The musicians are Feelgood's past and present as well as The Wilko Johnson band. The last few years have seen Norman Watt-Roy, Sparko and Dave Bronze pn bass! I paid £60 for these 2 tickets including a donation to the local Hospice and would like to make this back. There are only a few hundred tickets sold each year, so it's a pretty intimate gig. SOLD!

Played a 50th birthday party last night in Frimley. We were booked by the Birthday Boy's wife who had seen us play last year and it was a great crowd. We played from 9 until gone 1am with a 30 minute break so it was pretty tiring and my hands and throat are sore today. The load in/out was horrid too as the carpark was about 200 yard from the hall. Sadly too we had to busk a version of Mustang Sally as it was requested several times. It made me feel dirty. I'm off to get a shower now....

For Trade: New Series Fender USA Jazz bass- WHY?
Old Horse Murphy replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Basses For Sale

I've manage dto pick up another Fender (new Series) USA Jazz bass in a trade and wondered if anyone has any interesting trades to offer at all as I already have one of these. It's in superb condition, lightweight (C 8.5lbs) and plays beautifully. The colour is a gorgeous Sunburst/tortoise shell/rosewood. I have nothing in mind in particular by way of trades but I like Sandbergs (PM's) Fenders (US P basses, 5 string Jazzes), Musicman, Lakland (Bob Glaub, Duck, Hollowbody), double bass?.. Please PM me with any trade bait

I'm a huge fan too and it certainly has influenced both my playing style and my sound more than British music has.

He reminds me of McLovin

A Subtitle saying "It Aint No Fun To Me" comes up at about 20 seconds in. That's my guess -
