1. BUMP to include a set of genuine US Fender tuners (unused) in the deal. The tuners are the exact model for this neck so will fit without any need for surgery
2. I'm selling a brand new (never fitted) black pickguard for a Fender US 62 P bass (with thumb rest and ashtray screw holes) and a box of Fender pickguard scews in chrome. SOLD
3. Not sure if this is in the right forum, but I am selling a genuineFender USA fretless P bass neck with rosewood lined board (in superb condition) from 1996 (Serial number N614). This is a stock fretless neck, not altered retrospectively. I also have a set of genuine Fender US tuners (unused) to go with this neck which I'll throw in to the mix. I have this on Ebay currently with a fair amount of interest but will let it go on here for £275 plus £7.50 P&P.
4. Dave sent me a Fender Bridge, strap pins and neckplate completely free of charge and wouldn't accept a penny in postage. I'm incredibly grateful for his generosity and kindness; one of the good guys. Many thanks Dave and if you ever find yourself down in this neck of the woods, I'd be more than happy to buy you a pint.
5. We were booked for a surprise 40th birthday last night at The Castle in Tooting. I've not played at The Castle since a Tsunami Charity Gig years ago and the place hasn't changed much (awful sound). We were asked to get the for 6pm so we could be set up by 7 when the Birthday Boy was due to arrive. We didn't end up going on until 9 so had to sit around for a fair while. They were a great crowd but a typical party crowd where people were busy catching up/talking and a few of our numbers were greeted with stony silence and it became apparent that absolutely nobody has listened to us during certain tracks (good job I'm thick-skinned). The second set went down really well and we had a busy dancefloor. Some of our newer stuff we've added didn't get the reaction we'd hoped for but then again, some of it went down extremely well. We've got a 50th next weekend in Frimley, so we can try the new stuff out again and see how it goes down. Highlight of the night was a girl in her 20's taking photos of us. At one stage she squatted down on to her haunches for an arty shot and I got to see the Cat on her lap. Don't think she realised but it must have been a bit of a draft. Nearly put me off my stroke
6. Bought a Jap Fender P Body off of Dave on Monday and it arrived today. Better than described and a nice looking bit of wood even if I do say so myself (sounds a bit gay doesn't it?) Thanks Dave; highly recommended
7. Thanks guys. I think I was lucky to find this one
8. I thought I'd share my latest acquisition with you; a 76 P Bass I picked up for a VERY good price It's been well played over the years, but the frets are fine, electrics are all-original and apart from looking a bit tatty it's in perfect working order. There's a lot of wear on the top edge, on the G-side of the neck (a wedding ring I guess) and some lacquer crazing- all purely cosmetic. Weight-wise I would say it's just over 8lbs which is a great result! It's also the best playing and sounding P Bass I've ever played. I know that 70's P's can be a bit iffy but this one is great and has gone straight to the top of the pecking order. I bought some Fender ashtray covers for it, but will sell them on as I prefer the bass without them. Very happy indeed
9. Jon has just sent me a set of Flatwounds strings absolutely free. They're in fantastic condition and I'm very grateful. Top man. Thanks Jon
10. Max bought a bass off me and he couldn't have been a better buyer! Nice guy and highly recommended
11. Spent a pleasant hour with Jack today picking up a gorgeous Lakland Duck Dunn. He was kind enough to let me play his AC 5 string which was stunning and Status PJ which was utterly astounding! Thanks again Jack and if you ever do decide to part with the Status...
12. Bought a beautiful Fretless off Pete. It arrived super-fast and is better than I could have imagined. Thanks Pete
13. I think Tredders was looking for one of these. MIght be worth PMing him
14. Got one for sale here if anyone is interested: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=100364&hl=
15. Thanks for the offers of trades. I am however really looking for a sale on this I'd also sell for £410 without the gigbag and with Rotosound Rounds fitted
16. Bought a stunning Stingray off of Mario. It's by far the best Ray I've played. I don't think the deal could have gone any smoother and Mario is very easy to deal with. Very happy
17. For sale is a John East MMSR4 preamp for a Stngray bass. It includes the chrome knobs, pots, electrics etc but not the Crescent-shaped control plate. This Preamp includes a mid-sweep as well as the 3 band eq (treble, mid and bass). However, when the mid pot is on the centre detent, the preamp functions exactly the same way and is voiced like the 70's Stingray preamp. Controls: Single knob- volume Single knob- late 70's MM treble Single knob- late 70's MM Bass Stack knob- mid/mid frequency sweep John East's website has far more information thatn my little brain could possibly digest, although I have just broken my record for typing the word "knob" (previous best 4) It does sound wonderful and is ingreat working order. A new one sells at £157.50 excluding the control plate, so I have priced this at £105 inc delivery ONO.
18. I know Dave (OBBM) has a feedback topic already, but I just wanted to write something to express my gratitude to him. In the 3 years I've been frequenting Basschat, I have made a number of real and "virtual" friends online and having recently lost one of those virtual friends the forum has been a much colder place IMHO. Having known Dave for those 3 years over which time I have bought, sold, traded, visited, sought advice from and watched him gig, he is someone I have considered to be a friend for some time. Anyway, I recently posted a topic seeking help in rewiring a Stingray back to the original configuration. I had a number of replies offering help and assistance for which I'm grateful. Dave actually offered not only to help, but to do the work himself!! I took the bass around on Sunday and left it with him to perform his magic. Despite redecorating the house and fulfilling orders for his excellent cable business, Dave PM'd me today to tell me all the work was done and it was ready to be picked up. He had repaired the broken circuit board, emailed Ernie Ball to get the wiring diagrams and reinstalled the preamp completely free of charge and wouldn't accept a penny from me. I am totally overwhelmed by his technical expertise but most of all by his generosity and wanted to share a very pleasant, positive experience in what has been a pretty miserable time on Basschat. Thanks again Dave
19.
Nick, bring it over and I'll do it for you.
My new man-crush Many thanks Dave. I'll drop you a PM
20.
Stick it in then.
I don't know how to connect it back. That's the problem!!
21.
Do you have the original pre-amp?
HI Yes, I do have to original preamp
22. Guys I need some help from people far more technically-minded than myself I was lucky enough to buy Nologic69's (Mario's) Stingray HS from him this week. The bass is amazing and easily the best Stingray I have played. It is however fitted with one of John East's Musicman Preamps (a 4 band one) and while I'm an admirer of John's excellent kit, I want to restore it back with the original preamp. I opened up the cavity last night and honestly would not know where to begin!! I'm okay with a soldering iron but my expertise runs to being able to rewire a P Bass pickup and change the occasional pot Any help or guidance would be gratefully received
23.
Hey OHM, I'm a bit confused/thick, is the bass for sale the original Mike Dirnt, or if it's been moded what has been changed??? Cheers F61
Hi Farmer It's a standard Mike Dirnt with just a change of pickguard and strings. Nothing else has been modded at all. Cheers Nick
