I bought this bass off Me and My Bass (Chris) last week and it arrived safely on Thursday. To be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to like the active electronics as I have found them too harsh to my ears compared to passives. However, after plugging it in, I was very pleasantly surprised and decided to gig with it on Friday night. It sounds amazing and to my eye looks pretty cool too. I certainly didn't buy it for the relic job (it was too good a price to miss out on) but I am impressed exactly how subtle it is. I'm also told it looks great from the audience too!! A guy on Friday actually said that it looked like it had been my main go-to bass for the last 10 years or so. The neck is probably similar in dimensions to my old Lakland Duck Dunn, but string spacing can be adjusted to either Jazz or P Bass spacing depending on preference. It's incredibly light too (lighter than my 2008 Fender P Bass) and a joy to play.

Good gig last night at The Woodman in Wimbledon Park. Started at 6pm for the after work drinkers and was due to finish at 9 but ended up playing until 10ish as the Pub didn't empty out as early as the Guvnor thought it would (it's a proper after work pub). Highlight of the night was at about 8pm the floor in front of us filled with toddlers dancing while the parents watched on! This was closely followed by the whole pub emptying shortly afterwards when a fight broke out at one of the Pool Tables. We of course carried on playing a la The Commitments. I gigged my new Sandberg PM4 for the first time and took the P Bass as a back up in case I didn't get on with it. Needless to say the P bass didn't get a look in- wow!! What a bass! Got fed and paid extra by the Landlord for playing longer than planned. A true Gent and a proper Guvnor. The Song that went down best on St George's Day? Whiskey In The Jar of course

We've been booked to play at The Woodsman in Wimbledon tonight as part of their St George's Day Celebration (despite the band consisting of a Murphy, Molloy, Ellis and Sheehan ) It's a 6pm kickoff as according to the Landlord it's an after-work/tube commuter pub and by 9.30pm on a Friday it's not that full. I think maybe he's hired us to see if we can clear the pub earlier so he can have a quiet night! Has anyone played this venue before? We're in the main bar rather than the stage, but this is a new gig to me so any feedback would be much appreciated.

I've just taken delivery of a Sandberg PM4 from Chris and it couldn't have been an easier more pleasant transaction. The bass is superb (pics to follow) and Chris is a fantastic guy to deal with. Thanks Chris

I bought this from Neilb only last week, but no longer need it! For sale is a Rdail Bigshot i/o instrument selector in perfect condition. It's an excellent bit of kit and allows you to easily transition between 2 instruments (it even has a volume equaliser so both channels output the same volume). Here's some more details: http://www.guitarandampshop.co.uk/acatalog...Selector_2.html I want what I paid for it which is £50 plus £2P&P

I 've just realised I never replied to your PM about Agents- sorry. As for another Duck Dunn? Yep, another one I regret letting go of!!
I recently acquired a November 2002 Musicman Stingray 5 in transparent purple, maple fingerboard, black pickguard and single Humbucker. It's in excellent condition apart from a small paint chip on the upper body (where the forearm rests) and comes with original case and all the candy. It plays beautifully and I spent last weekend giving the neck a proper clean and oil so it plays very fast and smooth. It's currently strung with a set of La Bella Flats. Problem is, I just don't like the sound of active basses (when will I ever learn?). I'm looking for a trade for a Fender US (new model) P or J bass or Lakland Duck Dunn. It really is a beautiful instrument in a lovely colour. Just not doing it for me sonically though
best 5 string for sweet phat blues/rocked up sounds
does the SR5 have that same nasal quality of the 4?
It can do if you dial it in, but it doesn't seem as trebly as the Ray 4 to my ears. The bass EQ really adds some decent beef too -
Anyone ever bought a prized instrument from Cash Converters?

Not sure if this is the right forum but Italiastraps are doing a 2 for 1 offer on guitar straps at the moment. I've used them before and they are top quality. A 2.5" wide long-length strap works out at about $44 dollars inc delivery for 1 strap if bought as part of the 2 for 1 offer. I only want 1 so if anybody wants to go halves, please PM me and I'll sor tit out. Here's the link: http://www.italiastraps.com/

Old Horse Murphy replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thank you all- that's my weekend sorted Before and after pics to follow -
This has probably been asked a million times but I can't find anything by serching the forum. What's the best thing to clean a dirty maple Musicman Stingray neck? I've read wonderful things about Murphy's Oil Soap but can't find anywhere to buy it in the UK (and I should know!) Any help would be much appreciated
Seems to be my mantra these days but what does it weigh Mr Murphy sir?
It's definitely under 9lbs Tom but unfortunately I can't be any more accurate than that at the moment. These new Fenders are a really comfortable weight and balance. -

I have a US Fender P Bass (2008) in fantastic condition in black/black/maple with the new style case, all the candy and original white pickguard as trade bait. I bought this recently as a backup to my black/rosewood P Bass but it hasn't really had a look in. It's in great condition (I have noticed a couple of indentations near the top horn but these are minor and don't show up in the photos at all) and currently strung with a new set of La Bella Deep Talkin Flats (just as God intended). EDIT: Stingray sorted so now for sale at £635 plus P&P
