I'm clearing out some spare sets of strings. All have been put on my basses, but have been used for less than 1 week (I decided to go back to my beloved La Bellas). All in fantastic condition and lots of life left: [s]2 sets of [/s] TI Flats (43-100 gauge) 34" scale. Selling for £32.70 rom Stringbusters. Yours for £22 per set inc delivery. 1 SET LEFT [s]1 set of D'Addario Chromes Flatwounds (45-100 gauge) 34" scale. Selling for £29.60 from Stringbusters. Yours for £20 inc delivery.[/s] SOLD I possibly have another set of D'Addarios too but need to check. I'm not sure if I still have the original packaging but all the strings will be wrapped in individual envelopes before being boxed. If you're not happy with them I'll offer your money back (can't say fairer than that!)

Thinking of adding a MM type pup to a passive P bass?
Old Horse Murphy replied to dave_bass5's topic in Bass Guitars
Cheers Steve. Yes, a PJ would be the easiest option. Im not after a particular tone, just something to add a bit more to the P tone when needed and having something a bit meatier in the bridge position might be nice. I have been looking in to it and your right, the MM cant go in the sweet spot. Saying that, im not really sure that would be a negative point. Im also thinking maybe something like a Nordy big single. That might work. All this is just an idea at the moment. Its got nothing to do with me not liking what i have, more just an enhancement. Ill probably end up going PJ.
Hi Dave Dave (OBBM) has done the PJ configuration on his DD and it sounds amazing. I think he had a Fralin fitted and it really adds a bit of bite and growl to the P sound. Well worth considering -
For sale is my Korg DTR 2000 tuner as I have decided to reduce my rig somewhat. It's in excellent condition and has been rack mounted all of it's life. It's exactly the same as this model: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=1822 Looking for £100 inc postage
Lovely bass this Nick. Gassing badly for a Jazz again but I can't decide which one of my 3 I would sell to fund one.....
Thanks Mart. It's a real beauty I've reduced the price to £620 if this is bought without the case. I'm not going any lower than that and think this is a huuuggee bargain

EXCHANGED Fender US Std. Precision bass V, PJ modified

Will bought a new-style Fender SKB case from me and waited absolutely ages for delivery (snow, couriers etc) without any complaint whatsoever. He waited so long in fact, that the case is now classed as a "mint condition vintage model" and as a result worth considerably more than he paid for it. Thanks again Will for a painless transaction and the your patience.

I bought this off Clarky a short while ago (link here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=68282&hl=) and despite this being the best constructed, easiest playing Jazz bass I've ever owned or played, Jazzes are just not for me. It's that simple It's in excellent condition apart from a small ding just under the control plate (not through to the lacquer) and comes with new SKB case and all the candy. It's a 2009 model so is pretty damn as new. A friend of mine has something I want but in exchange is looking for a Stingray 5 or 5 string Fender P, Lakland DD or new model Fender US P Bass in black and maple. As a result, I'm looking to swap this for either one of those. I'll get more pics up ASAP but hopefully Clarky's will give a good indication of just how nice this bass is. These new US Fenders are great instruments and IMHO the best Fender has made for a considerable time. It's strung with La Bella Flats and has a lovely low, fast action. I've been asked by several BC's for a sale price so I'll sell this for £670 inc the original SKB case or £640 with a Gator semi-hard (oooeer) case similar to the Sadowsky style cases OR £620 WITHOUT EITHER CASE
Hey Nick, do you think the b/w/b would fit a CIJ Fender Precision? I just checked and mine has 13 holes in its tort pickguard. If so I would like to take it please. Thx Clarky
Ping me your address again Clary and I'll send it to you. If it doesn't fit, send it back. If it does we can sort payment out afterwards. Cheers Nick

SOLD: Markbass LMK Amp (2 Channel Version)
Old Horse Murphy posted a topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I've just acquired a Markbass Little Mark (LMK) amp in a trade as I knew I could (hopefully!) move it on quite quickly. This is the 2 channel Markbass amp which produces 500w @ 4ohms and is one of the best amps I have ever used. I actually have one of these as my main gigging amp and if I didn't have one this would be a 100% certain keeper. It's in excellent condition and has always been rackmounted. I'll try and put pics up soon, but it is in fantastic condition so there isn't a huge amount that pics will add to the For Sale thread Here's a link to the Markbass website giving a bit more detail about this wonderful amp: http://www.markbass.it/products.php?lingua...t=1&vedi=68 SOLD -
I'm looking for a bit of help here as I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong. We had a gig last night and found that we had to set up across quite a long wall. As we normally just play through the backline and have vocals through the PA we thought it might be an idea to have a bit of guitar and bass through the PA just to spread the sound a bit more evenly in to the room. The guitar was easy enough to rig up from the back of my guitarist's Marshall combo, but my bass didn't seem to work. I use a Markbass LMK and had my cabs running fine, but when I attached the XLR lead to the line out at the back, there was no sound coming out through the PA. Is this something fundamental that I'm doing wrong, or could there possibly be a fault from the Line Out socket? The Mixing desk we were using last night was a Yamaha MG124cx. Any help would be much appreciated.

Pete bought a Planetwaves strap off me and was kind enough to wait for the Huskies to deliver it. Thanks again for your patience!

Gareth bought some Fender spares from me and it was a totally pain-free transaction. Thanks Gareth

Weather + Amp delivery = MASSIVE DELAY
Old Horse Murphy replied to jamesbass116's topic in General Discussion
This is nothing that a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20 won't help solve. Come to think of it, there's not a lot in life that a bottle or 2 of 20/20 won't make go away. If I were you I'd put on your best, warmest hoodie, find your usual bench, brush off the snow and get drinking young man. This is not meant in any way to be patronising; more a bitter older man dreaming of past glories..... -

Warwick Adam Clayton Reverso Bass
Old Horse Murphy replied to NancyJohnson's topic in General Discussion
I actually quite like the bass although it would look a bit silly down The Dog and Duck on a Saturday night playing Mustang Sally. I actually like Adam Clayton too. Sure he's limited and repetitive but he has a very distinctive sound and adds a lot to U2's overall sound which I happen to like. On songs like Bullet the Blue Sky and Sometimes You can't Make it on Your Own I can't think of any way the bassline could add more to the song than it does. Anyway, hooray for Adam and hooray for U2. I've got a lot of pleasure from listening to their music over the years and wish I had a Signature bass named after me. If I did though I don't think it would look like Adam's unless the endorsement deal was worthwhile -
Anyone tried a Fender American Vintage 62RI Jazz?
Old Horse Murphy replied to Clarky's topic in Bass Guitars
I agree on the '75RI's. This particular one was mine for a while and it's lovely to play. In fact I have something similar heading my way quite soon. . .
Such a tease....spill the beans Barrie -
Looks like a photoshop special to me Nick
Possibly Barrie but why Bruce and Rick wouldve gone to all that bother I don't know. If they'd just ASKED I'd have been more than willing to let them have their photo taken with me
I was playing at The White House in Guildford one night and Rick came in, stayed for the first set and then bought us all a pint. Nice guy.
He was a lovely guy actually. They ended up watching us as we went through one of their numbers. Very scary but nobody cried!
