1. I have just taken delivery of a Fender 51 Reissue from Mark @ GAK via their Basschat Store. We spoke on the phone on Sunday and the bass arrived as promised yesterday (unfortunately I wasn't around to sign for it). It was described as a 1994-5 model in Mint condition and is exactly as described (spotless in fact). A great price and a great service. I'm going to fit a Hipshot bridge to it to improve intonation, but other than that I'm over the moon with it. Highly recommended and a pleasure to deal with. When it comes to ordering my Custom Shop Fender P Bass, they'll definitely have my business. Thanks Mark
 2. Definitely one of those "I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing..." threads, but since I got my Shuker 5 String P Bass back with the new pickups, I think I've got the P Bass angle covered. Anyway, I've got a Lakland Skyline Duck Dunn which is in fantastic condition complete with a black, a white and mint coloured pickguards and is currently strung with La Bella Deep Talkin Flats. It is one of the best basses I've ever heard and is a joy to play. The Jazz neck is really quick and very very easy to play. My band is playing a lot more 60's and 70's stuff recently (Cream, Free etc) so I am looking to get hold of a Gibson SG Reissue bass, so would be interested in a trade if possible. I can post some pics up tomorrow when I manage to get the camera back off the wife, but it's a Lakland Duck Dunn Skyline in Candy Apple Red!! Thanks for looking
 3.
thats true...I dunno, I just don't wanna have to deal with the questions that will arrise with any of these situations...it's hard enough to cope with, without having to go into it all! lol! The comfy drum throne sounds like a good plan, but can I get away with it at a rock/mod gig..?
You could wear a really long coat and hide the stool under it and pretend you're short and fat (like me)
 4. If i can help in any way by possibly relieving you of your P5 Alan I'm more than willing to try
 5. Now surplus to requirements, I'm selling my new model EBS Multicomp with active/passive switch and true bypass. One of th ebest compressors on the market. It's 8 weeks old maximum and is in excellent condition apart from a chip in the paint on the underside. Comes with original box and a power supply too. £105 inc postage. Thanks for looking
 6.
But do you actually experience this even when the filters are off? If so, it may be that the LMK is somewhat compressed by nature and eliminates your need for a compressor, although in my experience, Markbass' heads are quite responsive dynamically-wise. Or maybe the filters enhance low frequency and reduce transient response (or whatever) so that your tone seems somewhat more even?
To be honest, I don't really like the sound of the Ray running through the LMK without any of the filters as I find it a bit harsh so I've not tried it without the Filters. I guess because both Filters cut frequencies, it evens out the tone a bit. Hmmm, I think the Compressor may be a bit surplus to my requirements
 7. I've long been a user of compressors and have recently purchased an EBS Multicomp. When I played by P Bass through the Shuttle 6, I could really hear what a Compressor added to my sound. However, I now play a Stingray 5 through a Markbass LMK and have one channel set with the VPF filter set (for old school bass sound) and the other with the VLE for soloing and a more modern sound. I'm not sure whether it's because the Filters colour the sound so much, but I can't hear much change to the sound when I use a Compressor or not. Would the filters make that much difference and if so, do they reduce the need for using a Compressor and does anyone have a clue what I'm on about? If so, does anyone want to buy a mint condition EBS Multicomp?
 8.
I know it well. That place is literally just down the road - its an old church building. Not sure if he still owns it or not but its impressive from the outside. If you go up to Muswell Hill just up the road, there's a church thats been converted into a pub - I kid you not. The bar is where the altar used to be.
I've been there and I'm sure it's an O'Neill's. I'm sure the Big Man would be happy it's been turned in to a pub rather than apartments for Boho Notting Hill wannabes. I'll ask him next time we chat
 9. I'm moving a few bits on to make room for more stuff that's incoming! First up is a Warwick 4u Shallow depth Rockbag. This has been used but is in excellent condition (no tears at all but the leather tabs that fit on the end of the zips have come off- not sure what use they were anyway). This is the shallow bag with useable depth of 440mm. It's exactly the same as this one: http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/music...sp?id=4105-2613 The only reason I'm selling it is to get a 3u one as I've simplified my setup. It's a great bit of kit and would cost you £61 inc postage for a new one. I'm letting mine gor for £35 posted. Next up is a genuine early 70's Fender tuning key which is complete apart from the screws and is in excellent condition apart from some tarnishing. I'm looking for £25 inc postage for this. And finally, I am selling an unused Quiklok amp stand. It's this model and is a great bit of kit for on stage monitoring if you want to hear yourself clearly. Yours for £25 inc postage: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/bs-317/9662 http://www.quiklok.com/catalog/?p=products...mp;sName=BS-317
 10.
Do you take PayPal? If yes, I'll take it.
Pauypal is fine Jack. I'll PM you the details
 11. I have just taken delivery of a blackXL (42-54") Comfort Strapp but I can't get the bass to sit at the right angle for me. As a result I'm going back to me old thick leather strap. It is literally brand new apart from the fact that I have fitted some Schaller Strap locks to it, which I'll also include in the sale. SOLD
 12. Looks like the hazard triangle in the boot of my car. Hmmmm I wonder......
 13.
thanks for offer Nick, what is it called so I can google it?
I think it's a Quicklok (sp?) one
 14.
Just purchased a Mesa Walkabout combo and - as its quite squat - I think I will need it tilted upwards for optimum on-stage monitoring. I know there are various tubular metal amp stands around (eg by Stagg) but they are biggish and a pain to carry along with everything else. Markbass seem to have a neat, foldable solution in the wedge stand and its fairly cheap (£24 http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/shop/view_p...kbassmarkstand). Has anyone tried it and does it work? Or is it just a rubbish gimmick? Should I get an Auralex Gramma stand instead? All thoughts gratefully appreciated. Cheers Clarky
Hi Clarky The Gramma is a great piece of kit for isolating the bass sound from a boomy stage, wooden floors etc and will give you sound consistency from venue to venue. However, it will only raise your combo by a few inches and won't angle it upwards at all. I've got a reasonably portable stand at home that you're more than welcome to try out if you want.
 15.
Thanks Nick. How big is the venue/stage and do they have their own back line or take your own?
We took our own backline Michael as think their gear they supply is pretty ropey. The stage area was smallish and I ended up with the drummer's hi hat just in front of my nose (joys). Still, the crowd were good and it was our first gig in that part of London for ages.
 16. Played there last December Michael. Very good (Irish) venue and we were well received. We were asked to play there again next month but unfortunately our singer is getting married (selfish). It's a really good venue for originals bands as well too apparently. Toilets are a bit rubbish though and someone spilt a pnt all over my shoes.
 17.
Just to say that I like Old Horse Murphy's Shuttle 6.0 so much, I bought it from him :) No problem with lack of bottom end either. A killer amp head. I can't wait to get it at the weekend and hopefully get the Genz Benz NEO 212T by the weekend also.
IF you get the 212 by the weekend, bring it over Michael. My wife is away this weekend and the neighbours are pretty deaf
 18. It's even nicer in the flesh. Well, wood......you know what I mean It sounds amazing too and is immaculate (as is all Barrie's gear)
 19.
In my search for a lightweight cab, I am pretty much down to two. Either an Epifani 212/310 with my Ashdown ABM EVO III head or a Genz Benz Shuttle 6 with the NEO212 cab. I am kindly being lent an Epifani 310 to try and it does sound very nice with my Ashdown head. It still has that Ashdown sound but the Epifani makes it a bit cleaner over my Ashdown ABM 410. What is the Genz Benz Shuttle 6 and NEO 212 like and what sort of sound does it suit? Never heard a Genz Benz but they do seem to be very highly rated. Might take a trip out to test one if they are worth it. Any advice, especially on the Genz Benz stuff very appreciated.
HI Michael Drop me a PM and I'll let you have a lend of my Shuttle to A/B it all. Cheers Nick
 20.
Would a Phil Jones Suitcase be of any interest ?
Not really what I'm looking for but thank you for the offer
 21.
Yeah right Nick, I have an 18 year-old vintage feline* FT - aged blue-grey finish, starting to lack a bit of bite but still hits the high notes frequently, a few dings. Wanna meet in a car park somewhere to swap?
Sorry Clarky, the black one's definitely a keeper!
 22. I've recently been on a quest to replace my Fender US P bass, which I was having trouble hearing due to the P bass frequency. Sadly, it was by far the nicest, most comfortable bass I'd ever owned, but I wasn't prepared to have it butchered to make it more audible to me. So, after a flurry of emails, I ended up with Molan's (Barrie's) Fender US 75 Reissue Jazz on loan (hopefully long-term!) and I recorded with it last Thursday. It's an amazing bass and sounds wonderful. I'm deeply indebted to Barrie for his kindness and consideration. He truly is one of the nicest guys I've met and I'm incredibly grateful to him. I'll be even more grateful if he agrees to sell it to me I ended up trading my P Bass with Anthomp for his Stingray 5 stringer and picked it up this morning. I've just changed the strings and given it a good play and now wonder why I ever got rid of my old SR5 in the first place! It plays and sounds amazing, so thanks to Antony too. Putting both side by side, they actually look great together. It was only recently that I discovered the beauty of Natural basses and I'm definitely a convert. The black one in the middle I've owned for just over 8 years. A bit dog-eared, sometimes a bit growly and often the lead doesn't stay on, but definitely a keeper as well as being my favourite. I wouldn't be without her for all the money in the world
 23. Just met Antony at one of the M4 Services to swap my old P Bass for his Stingray 5. The bass is in immaculate condition (exactly as he described) and the deal went very smoothly. Thanks Antony and I hope you like the P Bass. I love the Ray!
