2.
It is about time that JJ was recognised for his major talent. I want to start a petition on Basschat and other sites and would encourage other to do the same, so we can create a digital list of bassists, other muso's and fans who would like a sig bass. Only one stipulation, they would have to offer it in a left handed version. 1. Steve Soar.
1. Steve Soar 2. JJ Burnel
 3.
Cool - that'd make my week. I'll sent you a PM fella. BTW Feel free to dust it. j/k
Dust it? Haven't you heard of Mojo??
 4.
Don't suppose you fancy doing it for £30? Forty is a bit more than I should spend on something I'm not entirely sure I'll use. Worth a try
As it's sitting there gathering dust mate, I'm sure we can arrange something
 5.
It is nice. I'd love a mapleglo 4003 to hang next to it, but as much as I love the look of Ric basses, I just can't seem to get on with them tone wise.
I've got the mapleglo 4003 and am hankering after a mapleglo 330 or 360. I've never played one (played a 330 years and years ago) but just love their style. Nice collection by the way.
 6. That Ric 330 has made me feel all funny
 7.
Is it because he's done things to Princess Leia that we can only dream of?
That's definitely part of the problem. Damn him and Jabba the Hutt!! I think it's because he constantly said how great he was and what a wonderful job he'd done. To be fair, he had done a wonderful job, but I always thought it was better to let other people say it rather than say it yourself. If I were him, all I'd have said "Here's my album. It's one of the best selling albums of all time. Oh, and by the way, while it was being made, I was f*cking Princess Leia and she was wearing her metal bikini".
 8.
Is there truth in the rumour that it was Bakithi's birthday on the day of the recording of "you can call me Al" and Paul said he could have a blatant solo / fill in the song as a treat, hence the slapped fill? Or is it just an urban myth, either way it has fuelled many pub discussions...
They said the story was true on the documentary Despite his obvious talent, I thought Paul Simon came across as being a bit of a D*ck on the documentary. I wanted to like him but I couldn't.
 9. Just bought Nik's Big Shot Bypass pedal. It arrived as promised and was well wrapped and is in as new condition. A top guy to deal with- thanks Nik
 10.
My '72 Ric 4001 with all the goodies; I bought it in a sale in 1993 for £490. I'd played it a year before (when it was £680) and completely fell in love with it. I couldn't afford it at the time, so went away convinced it would never be mine, but pleased at least that I'd actually found "the one". A year later I'd been saving up for a new amp, turned up at the same shop again, and there it was on the wall, reduced to sell. As luck would have it I'd also taken my 76 4001 along to try some amps so was able to do a direct comparison (the 72 blew it out of the water). I couldn't pay for it fast enough. It was obviously meant to be mine! This is a pic of me playing it the year I got it..... ...and here's me playing it a couple of years ago...
Looks like you're playing the same song too!! Lovely bass. I'm a massive fan of Rics having rediscovered them recently
 11.
I dunno if youd like the place these days, spots gotten rough!!! Cheers for the interest though!
LOL hasn't changed much then! Last time I was there i lost a tooth!! A seriously nice bass there. I had a Bongo in the same colour.
 12. I wish I had something to offer as a trade just to have an excuse to visit Tralee again . A quick pint at the Brogue always does me the world of good. Mind you, if anyone wants to use me as a courier.... Good luck mate.
 13.
They're not lending as freely, but at this moment if you have a decent track record you can get some very very good deals. Assuming the OPs current business is healthy and his plan is thought through then he could well find himself with banks crawling all over him to lend money.
Sadly not the case. This would (I assume) be a start up business with no links whatsoever to the OP's current business other than the OP himself. As a result, unless there was some form of guarantee from the OP or his current business or indeed this new venture being set up as a subsidiary of the current business, I don't think the offers would be as free-flowing as you think.
 14.
No it's not. Banks are not lending. That's why, at the moment, a lot of good companies are going under!
Sadly very true and also one of the reasons why this recession we're in is very different to the recession of the early 90's. I think you would struggle to obtain any meaningful credit lines with most of the instrument distributors/manufacturers (both credit limits and payment terms) as a start up business considering well-established businesses are having a hard enough time as it is. I'm sorry to be a spoilsport, but I think the initial amount you would have to pay out for stock, overheads etc. due to lack of credit terms/support offered would be too large to make it a worthwhile venture. It could also be a risk to your current Directorship too if anything went wrong with this business. As a businessman yourself, I'm sure you're all too aware of the pitfalls anyway and certainly don't mean to teach you to suck eggs Having taken my business hat off, I say it's a great idea and I wish I had your foresight and ambition myself.
 15. I've used Deep Talkin 45-105's for years (I've always found TI's to be a bit flappy feeling) and to me, they're the best strings I've ever played. A new set from Stringbusters went on to my Ric 4003 just before Christmas and they've turned it in to a whole new beast
 16.
I feel bad for you. Rehearsing there must cost a bomb though: first you've got to pay for reherasals and then any money left over goes to the strippers, right?
It's an unwritten rule. Still, I could think of worse ways to spend it.
 17. And it's still one of the most disappointing moments of my life- playing the Peel and not getting to share the dressing room with the strippers
 18. Jack- we used to use the Peel rehearsal rooms. They're pretty good actually. A bit dark but clean and the kit is reasonable too (I think they supplied Trace Combos for the bass players). More than useable and a decent sound. The PA was fine too- nothing special but more than adequate. The only thing was, in one of the rooms the PA speakers were angled (and fixed) in on the drum kit. This caused our drummer a bit of discomfort but was loads of fun for the rest of us. The other one that might be worth looking at is Airplay in Spelthorne (just at the start of the M3). They don't supply backline (they may do upon request) but the rooms are a good size and it fels very spacious.
 19. I've got your address somewhere Clarky
 20. Jeez If my ex did that, we'd all be able to stand our basses up at the same time. There'd also be room for a fair few other items as well (bikes, possibly a fridge freezer, skis, telegraph poles).
 21. I am selling an Electro Harmonix Bass Blogger pedal that I was given last week. It's as new (all the packaging and paperwork included) and is a great dedicated Bass distortion/Fuzz pedal. Here's the link to the EH website: http://www.ehx.com/products/bass-blogger I don't use distortion, so it's not much use to me. Thanks for looking
