Welcome Aljan- I hope you enjoy the forum.

Looks like a Highway 1, so I'd say the price is about par.

Go for a wee about 8 times, tune up about 6 times, remind myself of what the lyrics are to various chorus parts I sing, check straplocks about 5 times and then finally prize my tongue from the roof of my completely dried up mouth using a screwdriver, check my flies and then glide on serenely with my heart trying to escape through my ribcage. And then tune up once more. Or maybe twice Funny though, one song in and I'm completely relaxed and in the zone.
I think you have Nick....you've had it for more than 3 months so that's a good sign The G&L hasn't done a gig yet but the signs are good - nice sound and the neck is more to my liking than the DJ5 I had. Made the mistake of playing a SR5 for an hour on Sunday tho and I definately prefer the shallower neck profile on the SR - but I think the G&L will grow on me in time.
That's good news. I've yet to try a G&L. It looks a beauty. PS- Cheeky git -
I use one of these for my '62 Precision (so I can save the valuable original case from getting any wear & tear) - they are made to a really high standard, basically they're the 'mutts nuts' of hard cases! Have a bump for a great bit of kit!
Another resounding endorsement. Thanks very much!!
Gotta admit tho Nick, if ever I bought another Jazz bass I would love it to be this one.
I think I've gott a good'un here Mart. It's currently fitted with Wizard 84's and it sounds amazing. How's the G&L? -
Sorry Nick, it's still 'pink'. Lovely trio. Don't let em fall downstairs
I swear it's getting pinker by the day Mart -
These are the Rolls Royce (or more properly; Cadillac Eldorado) of cases and bloomin great – I’ve got two. Agreed, a new one like this you’d almost hate to take gigging, but the one for my Gibson is always gigged as it’s the only case that’ll fit it - and still going strong after 30 years, nicely mojo'd. (+1000 for Hiscox though!) Bump for a lovely case at a great price - for a cherished old Fender, there’s absolutely nothing better, and would also make it a far more attractive deal if ultimately selling
Thanks for the endorsement Shaggy. Far more eloquently put than my efforts!!

Thanks guys. I don't know what it is, but something has finally clicked after getting hold of the Jazz and Ric. I'm incredibly happy with this little brood and the sounds I get from them through the Shuttle 6 and UL310 are exactly the sounds I hear in my head- MY Bass sound -
Last weekend I swapped my Fender US P Bass with Clarky for his 1986 Rickenbacker 4003. I've recently joined a second band that plays a lot of Brit music dating from the 60's, 70's and 80's and toyed with the idea of saving up for a Ric which I thought would compliment the sound we are looking to emulate. Given the prices of Rics currently, this was going to be something I was hoping to achieve soon. Anyway, cut a long story short, a deal was struck which saw my Fender heading towards Hammersmith and Clarky's Ric heading towards the outskirts of Woking which is surely the cultural home of the Rickenbacker in England! It's Mapleglo with Black trim (a very dark Mapleglo compared most of the other Rics I've seen in this colour) with a gorgeous grain. It's got Bartolinis fitted to it instead of the orignal stock pickups. The bridge is also a replacement (far better than the stock bridge). I played it on Saturday night and was blown away by the sound; still very Ric like but more ballsy and growly. The neck is a nice jazz profile. It feels and plays like no other Ric I've tried. I'm really happy with it and it looks great too. I may decide to change it back to its original spec, but at the moment it's for playing. It compliments my Jazz Bass nicely and offers a whole different array of sounds and vibes. While I had the camera out, I thought I'd take some pics of my Burgundy Mist 64 Reissue Fender Jazz, which is the nicest playing and sounding Jazz I've ever heard. And finally, there's a pic of the whole brood together (Ric, Jazz and Shuker "Alice" bass). I won't say that's it for me as I have done before only to change the whole lot around I hope this is it though, although I'd like a Duck Dunn at some stage!
Swap you for an Aphex compressor? But seriously Nick, what are you keeping your Jazz in now? One of the new Fender SKB cases?
The basses spend most of their time at home sitting on their stands. I want to buy either another Hiscox or SKB case for when I take the basses gigging Clarky. As much as I rate the Warwick gig bags, I feel far more comfortable with a decent hardshell case. For my hamfistedness, the Fender case is way too nice to use.

I am selling a Fender black tolex bass case that came with my 64 reissue Custom Shop Fender Jazz. It is in perfect condition and is completely faithful to the original Fender cases from the 60's. All the lokcs work and I have the key too! Thomann and various other music outlets are selling these for £130+, but as mine is gathering dust under the spare bed and I have no intention of using it, I'm letting it go for £100 plus £10 P&P. Photos attached. Thanks for looking

We did a Charity gig in Welwyn on Saturday night, so no fee for playing but it gave us a really good opportunity to try out some new numbers (and Clarky's Ric 4003!) There were 2 bands on the bill (us and a group called Powerfade- good guys) and we each did 2 sets. Apart from completely forgetting the lyrics during Stuck in the Middle and screwing up the Middle 8 in Learn to Fly, we went down a storm and played 3 encores, which resulted in a jam of White Room with the other band's drummer and guitarist (including a bass solo of some description). Didn't get in to gone 2am and had my usual can't sleep after a gig night. I took the GB Shuttle 6 and Epifani UL310 to play through (only the vocals went through the PA) and played the Jazz bass and the Ric; both sounded immense. The other bassist used my rig too and I had a chance to hear it from the audience. He was playing a Jazz bass too and the whole thing so sat nice and tight in the mix. A very good evening all in all.

Clarky and I met for a second time in a carpark yesterday to talk bass and exchange bass stuff. The first time was to swap cabs and yesterday was to swap basses. In exchange for my Fender US P Bass, Clarky gave me his Rickenbacker 4003 in Maple Glo with black trim; absolutely perfect for me second band which plays a lot of late 70's- early 80's UK music. I'm very happy with the new bass and I had the opportunity to use it for a couple of numbers at my gig last night. It's fantastic and drew a few admiring glances alongside my Pink Jazz bass. Cheers Clarky and I hope the hangover has now passed Highly recommended and a very nice guy.
Why don't you choose to ignore it then? You don't have to answer.... In response to the OP.... I'm interested in what Taka plays as his basses look very unique...
Me too. I wonder what they are.......
Is it wrong that I was thinking if I had the money I would buy this sand it down and paint it pink?
Wayne, if John Entwistle can do it I'm sure you can too!! Maybe you could go for the same colour scheme as Pino Palladino's Signature model P Bass. I think it's lovely. It even has TI Flats fitted too
