Nice bass Mert, But being the weirdo that i am, I prefer the 5 string one on the left But then I always fancied the brunnette in ABBA more than the blonde..
+1 The 5 Stinger that is, not the brunette from Abba. Jeez Nik, what's wrong with you? Agnetha every day of the week. See?........
 2.
If I didn't already have an '08 American Standard in 3TS I'd be ripping Nick's arm off here!
Thanks Rich. It is a gorgeous bass and I'm really in 2 minds about doing this.
 3. The Stingray is provisionally Sold, but the P bass is still available. Thanks for all the interest so far. Wow!!
 4. Advertised on Ebay and directly through Absolute Music's website. Looks lovely and a reasonable price too (although I'm sure there's some room for negotiation). http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/shop/view_p...bst2usfenpbass5 If I didn't have my Shuker 5 banger I'd be all over this like a rash
 5. I sold it to Daniel and the combo was working without any distortion, clicks or any thing else. I It had actually been played by another Basschatter 2 days before it was sent and I'm sure they would happily confirm it was working perfectly. It was wrapped up like a baby in £20 worth of bubblewrap and the heaviest duty box I could find. I don't believe that a fault with the amp would have developed during the journey, so to be honest I'm stumped.
 6.
Based on previous experience with 'rays I'm not surprised, never found a dud...all play like butter and sound amazing...damn. I've been gassing for one for a while...I'm gonna have to have a think about this!
I'll leave you to mull it over
 7.
Man...that 'ray...oh my...you know when you can afford things but you know you shouldn't go spending money? You've hit me where it hurts!
It's honestly the nicest Ray I've played and I've been through a few. It doesn't get much of a look-in to be honest and deserves to be played
 8. A fine intro Julian Welcome aboard
 9.
I'm now taking offers on both of these guitars, hit me up you might find yourself getting a bargain!
PM'd
 10.
Yes , I know Hope - near Castleton and the start of the Pennine Way at Edale. Think he said he lives at Bamford so I got it wrong.
Any place where you're able to walk the dog to work over the hills every morning is just fine with me!! Sigh.......
 11.
Extra fret, side LED's
I got to the 18th Fret once Si, but I think I suffered from altitude sickness. After some Oxygen and a sit down I was okay, but never again. 21 frets? Show Off...
 12.
Simple, powerful, well crafted and classy to the eye. Can't think what more you could ask. Congratulations , you must be very pleased. Haven't kept to speed on Jon of late - did he complete his workshop move to Bamford?
Hi Dave- thanks for the comments. His move is now pretty-much complete and looks good. I'm not sure if it's Bamford he moved to (my Peak District geography isn't too hot). It's near a village called Hope
 13.
Truly beautiful bass Sir. I have used EMG's since 1986 and for me, they are the best sounding pups out there. Even, across the board and great top and bottom end power.
I totally agree Steve. I'm definitely an EMG convert!!
 14.
H'excellent (steeples fingers inna Mr Burns Styleeee) another convert Ol' Jon really knows how to take your needs and desires and convert them into basses, n'est pas? I'd hang on to the 4 banger for a year or so as I am now playing 4 string a lot more .... of course what I really want is a Shuker 4 string but hey, life aint perfect ....
He certainly does Si. Since he fitted the passive bypass on the Stingray, it does the P Bass sound really well on top of the Ray sound. The 5'er is definitely the bass I'll take with me to gigs from now on.
 15.
Hey Meester Horse-Murphy, that's one gorgeous bass you got there! Glad it's working out so well in your live set too, I love EMGs too, they never disappoint! Congrats man - she was worth the wait. Eude
Thanks Eude I've never used EMG's before. I don't know why. What the Hell have I been missing??!! Seriously (seriously) thinking about going for a matching 4 string J Bass with a Musicman profile neck.... dreams eh?
 16. I've just picked up my Shuker 5 String P bass and I've decided I want to ask Jon to build me another bass, so somewhat reluctantly I've decided these basses need to go. First up is a virtually new 2008 model Fender US P Bass in black with maple neck, new style case and all the candy. The new P's are incredibly good instruments and with the new satin finish on the neck, lightweight tuners, bigger bridge etc are a significant improvement on the S1 models (which I am a fan of too). This one has been used 3 or 4 times maximum and the bass is as new. The case is immaculate also. It comes with a black Fender scratchplate, a white Fender scratchplate and a pearloid Fender scratchplate also (choices, choices). Thes cost £745 new. This one is virtually new and is under warranty still. I'm looking for £650 for it, but will listen to sensible offers. Thanks for looking.
 17. I played the Shuker for the first time in anger last night at a local hall which we'd hired to try out the new PA system. We invited a few friends along and all I can say is WOW!! I has loads of comments about how cool the bass looked, as well as people saying how good it sounded. The bass is so easy and comfortable to play and the sound that comes from the EMG's is amazing. It covers everything from the traditional P Bass sound right through to a very modern Pop sound. Definition is amazing and although I'm still not convinced about playing everything through FOH, this is defintely the bass for me!! So much so, that I'm now seriously wondering whether I need to keep hold of the US 2008 P bass i bought a few weeks back... Oh dear
 18.
It's a beauty alright -I saw it on Friday when I dropped mine off with Jon - He seemed very proud of it! The neck binding and the inlay are stunning; very, very classy in my opinion! Hope you enjoy it for many years to come (I'm sure you will!) All the best, Rich
Thanks for the comments Rich. I actually saw your bass there yesterday and the finish is gorgeous on it.
 19.
Could I be a cheeky get and ask the same? That it possibly the most beautiful finish I have ever seen on a bass. I can't stop staring at it...
PM'd
 20.
Yes - It is my bass. Thanks. Should it not have a serial nuber though?
Probably, but I had a Strat around that time that didn't have a serial number either. I checked it out and apparently people who were importing them not through a proper distributor were removing serial number so they couldn't be traced back to the original supplier. It sounds feasible to me and I know it happens a lot with watches etc that are imported the same way.
 21.
Dudes. Apologies if you've already read this post in Introductions. My name's Drew. Using US Fender Jazz through Ampeg SVT VR & 810AV. I've been recommended this forum by another member to see if anyone can help me out with a question about my Jazz. I bought a US standard Jazz in '97 from Rushworths in Liverpool just as it was closing down. I've been gigging it for years and plays great and I have no problems with it. However it dawned on me the other day (11 years later) that I hadn't seen a serial number on it, neither on the backplate or headstock. Also, the colour doesn't appear on the Fender colour chart - it's a shade of pale yellow but more yellowish than Vintage White. On the back of the headstock is a small round sticker 'celebrating 50 years of Fender'. Came in a proper Fender case with all sealed accessories/manuals etc. Can anyone shed any light as to why it hasn't a visible serial number and if it's definitely a genuine Fender product. As I say, it plays fantastic and I would never have had any reason to doubt its authenticity until the serial number issue. It's packed away in the van but will take some pics and post in day or two. Drew
Hi Drew Is it this model? http://www.classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/bas...ender_jazz3.htm
 22.
Mr Horse-Murphy, are you coming to the Guildford bass bash? And more importantly, are you bringing this with you?!
I certainly hope to come along (nothing planned that day yet). If I do I'll definitely bring her along
 23.
may i be so bold as to ask how much that set you back?
PM'd
 24.
Nick, well worth the wait mate. Please keep this one as I might have to rob a bank if you ever put it up for sale.
LOL- Thanks Mart!! I think I'll keep hold of this one!! Thank you all for your positive comments
 25. Got a rehearsal next Thursday to get the strings nice and grubby so they don't go ZING. We're playing a private Party on Sunday night so I'll take her along then. Can't wait
