h ha go on then ... I may have to get a Shuk JJB 4 string at some point .. my POS SX P is Ok but when i play it I miss the Shuker P5 sound and playability and lights and neck
Jon reckons my 5 string is nearly done now. I really like his JJB too, so it might heavily influence my next order -
Phew I thought you were going to have a long term problem .. You could do a hybrid Jazz with a P neck if you don't get on with it ... or Jon could knock you up a special with a wide neck ...
You're a very bad influence Si. I've already thought about the next project I can get Jon working on... -
Ha ha How's your hearing doing with the jazz?
It's so much better. I really miss the P Bass and the width of the neck (the Jazz feels like a broom handle in comparison) but sonically it's so much more in my range. The pickups are a bit quiet, so I might put some Wizards in to it. Very happy though -
I thought that was Bergundy Mist or something. It's hardly a DaisyRock colour, is it? I think your secret's safe for a while longer ...
It is Burgundy Mist and I think it's lovely. Not quite DaisyRock but maybe next time!! -
At the request of Martthebass who wanted to see if I had the guts to play a pink bass in public, here are a few photos of a couple of gigs played at the London Irish recently. One is a Charity Do and the other was a 30th Birthday. I have never played so drunk as I did on the Charity gig as the photo with me and my Stingray will testify (what on earth was I doing and who the Hell has stolen my neck?) Fortunately, I am led to believe this is my Jazz face, not my sex face (thank you Mrs Old Horse for clarifying that). Excuse the Cauliflower ears, the fact that I look like a builder and the shoddy technique. As a bass player, I make a mighty fine Tighthead Prop. I think Phil Lynott's title of sexiest Irish bass player is safe for a while longer....

Trade; MY Stingray 4 for a Stingray 5
Old Horse Murphy replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Basses For Sale
If I meet Alice you can be assured that I will remain stumm, unlike a work colleague who came up to us at a company function and asked if my new bass had arrived yet, the one I hadn't got around to mentioning at home. Whoops!!! He emigrated to Canada.
I remember when I dropped round the DJ4 to you. You said that if your wife answered to tell her I was there to pick up some cables! Ever the old pro Dave... -
Ha! Ha! Ha! Don't you believe it. I sold a red Sterling and bought a red SR5 a while back and it was spotted immediately.
I know, but if I can get it down to a "no darling, you're mistaken" conversation it's better than a "Where the Hell is that bass I bought you?" one... You've met Alice Dave. I'm sure you can understand my cowardice!! -
I've got a near-mint condition black/maple Stingray 4 which I am looking to trade for a black/maple Stingray 5 string (possible small cash adjustment too). Why black and maple? My wife bought me this, so if it's the same colour scheme, she'll never know (hahahaha!!) I no longer have the case for it, but I'd be happy to do a swap for just the bass. I know this is a real "out there" feeler, but if you don't ask you don't get.

Hmmm, I was expecting something far more "adult" and well, rude when I opened this thread. I was even going to buy one for the wife... Very disappointing.
-
That is stunning. I'd like one in blue please
I seem to remember a Bassist article on Norman about 10years back where it said that his cabs are customs... as in he made them himself. Anyone else confirm that??
I recall seeing an article a few months ago in one of the Bass Magazines that showed Norman receiving his brand new rig from Trace Eliott. It was taller than him!!

My life story. In basses. With pictures.
Old Horse Murphy replied to wateroftyne's topic in Gear Gallery
Fantastic post mate and a really good retrospective on letting basses go but living to regret it at a later stage (one I can certainly relate to). I can't believe you sold your "wedding ring". My wife and Mum bought me a Stingray between them a few years ago and I know that if I ever moved it on, neither of them would speak to me for months......hmmmm, tempting....... -
Welcome Fred. Unfortunately I never got to take my Tax exams - the Falklands conflict broke out and I was dispatched with the rest of 2 Para. Congratulations though, and welcome to the forum.
War eh? Poor old Chiefy. Those exams could have been life changing. As my mate George says "war is stupid And people are stupid And love means nothing In some strange quarters" Last time I saw him he was chaining some fella to a wall in his spare bedroom. Not sure why, but I think they were both Freemasons or something.

Welcome Fred- you couldn't have come at a better time!! Well done on the Tax exams too. I remember when I did mine. It nearly killed me
