Music, and musicians - why is it always so hard?
Old Horse Murphy replied to Jakester's topic in General Discussion
Sorry to hear that Jake. Don't give up mate -
I've not had this too long but as there hasn't been a great deal of interest in my Fender US P Bass I thought I'd try this one to see if there are any takers. This really is a very reluctant feeler but needs must unfortunately. It's a January 2020 US Stingray Special 5 String in Ghostwood. It's in immaculate condition (still has the cellophane on the pickguard) and comes with original case and all the accessories. According to my wife's digital kitchen scales it's 9lbs 4oz. It feels a bit lighter to me though and is just a joy to play. It has a lovely low action and is one of the new Specials with 18v electronics, roasted neck etc. These models retail for upwards of £2,699- the cheapest I have found on sale in PMT (although having tried it, it suffers from the G string/edge of neck thing). This one is in as good condition as you'd find for considerably less. I'm looking for £1,800 delivered fully insured or it can be pieced up/handed over within an hour of Monmouth for £1,750. No trades please. If my P bass happens to sell first I'll keep this one.

Joe recently bought a Back Beat from me. The deal couldn't have gone any easier and he's a lovely guy too. Highly recommended.

Chris bought one of my Hohner Jacks in a totally hassle-free deal. I'm Glad it's gone to someone who misses the 80's as much as me Highly recommended

For sale is a lovely little Fender Rumble 500 Bass Head that delivers 500W at 4 ohms or 350w at 8 ohms. It weighs in at only 5lbs too. It's in excellent condition and I have given the pots a spray of contact cleaner as one of them was a bit scratchy (all seems fine now). This amp is brilliant and delivers a lot of power for its size with some really nice features too such as an overdrive channel and other pre-voiced settings. It comes with a padded bag which (for some reason) when I got it doesn't have the zip pulls on it! No idea why but it still allows you to transport the amp but the front zip doesn't secure. I bought this for a few festival gigs we had and it performed brilliantly. If I didn't have my Markbass combo I'd definitely keep this. Yours for £260 delivered insured. Specs: FENDER RUMBLE 500 HEAD (V3) FEATURES: Amplifier Type: Class-D Controls: Gain, Bright On/Off, Contour On/Off, Vintage On/Off, Drive, Overdrive On/Off, Level, Bass, Low-Mid, High-Mid, Treble, Master Volume Wattage: 500 Watts @ 4ohms / 350 Watts @ 8-ohms Effects Loop: 1/4" - (Send/Return) Inputs: One - 1/4" Auxiliary Input: 1/8" Stereo Headphone Jack: 1/8" Stereo Line Out: One - (XLR with Ground Lift) Speaker Jack: Two 1/4" Parallel (4-ohm minimum) Channels: One - (with Selectable Bright Switch, Contour, Vintage Switch and Overdrive) Pilot Light Jewel: Red LED Front Panel: Painted Metal Amplifier Depth: 7.19" (18.26 cm) Amplifier Width: 13.75" (350 mm) Amplifier Height: 2.68" (6.81 cm) Amplifier Weight: 5 lbs. For sale is a gorgeous Stats Graphite branded Hiscox hard case complete with keys. It's in super condition apart from one of the feet is slightly bent (still functioning though). Other than that it's virtually new (bass for illustration purposes only). These retail at £115 plus postage new. I'm looking for £85 inc postage.

For sale is a stunning Mark Bass Little Marcus 1000 amp complete with original footswitch and Mark Bass amp bag. It's in excellent condition and delivers 1000w at 4 ohms and 600w at 8ohms. It has two separate eq channels controllable with the footswitch and is a brilliant little amp. I have the original box too for posting it in. I'm looking for £525 inc insured delivery.

Thank you. It's definitely one where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts -
Nicest colour for a P I've seen in a long time 👍

NND- New Neck Day for by Custom P Bass Body
Old Horse Murphy replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Bass Guitars
Thanks chaps. It plays beautifully and it's incredibly resonant. I just now need to work out whether or not I like Jazzes, even if they're in the form of a P Bass! -
After not getting a great deal of interest in my Custom P Bass body with EMG Jazz pickups, I decided to go down another route and see if I could source a Status Graphite neck for it. Considering how difficult it is to get hold of these necks I was lucky enough to be able to find one that was within reasonable (ish) driving distance and I so picked it up tonight. It's an absolutely spotless Jazz width neck pre-fitted with Schaller tuners that dropped right in to the body and although I've not really set it up properly yet the bass plays beautifully and gives me the opportunity for Jazz Bass sounds without the Jazz body which I struggle with ergonomically. I think the whole thing looks ace too and weighs in at 9lbs 3oz.

Feedback prevention - F-its alternatives?
Old Horse Murphy replied to Jakester's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Are you using a notch filter or anything Jake? I had this ages ago and an uninflated beach ball placed inside the f- hole with the nozzle outside.m so it can be blown up was recommended to me. It did actually help -
Here you go Dave.

Had a strange one on Friday night at a private Do just outside of Cheltenham. It was a 7pm start and we were finished by 10. I still have no idea what the occasion actually was but we seemed to go down well. Throughout the first set I had a bloke in the crowd staring at me intently and taking photos. Believe me, I'm really not someone you'd want to have a photo of, so I was a bit confused. During the break he came up to me and said "I really like your Kingbass. How much do you want for it? They're not making them anymore so I'll pay you whatever you're looking for right now". I asked if he was a bass player and did he want a go but he told me he was just a big Level 42 fan. I thanked him and politely declined his offer but I get the impression he usually gets his own way as he was very persistent. In the end he got the message and made sure I took his contact details but it was all a bit weird.

I made the mistake of grating off one of my fingertips on my fretting hand before a gig once. I used a load of superglue too and it worked. I probably went a bit overboard as I looked like I had one of ET's hands.
