1. I'm with Allianz Musical Insurance and they've already paid out on a stolen Stingray of mine....very quick too
2. Great photos Tony. Out of interest, do you sell prints at all? That one would look great on my Bassists wall at home!!
3. Wedding Reception Saturday night at London Irish Rugby club (my old stomping or should that be "stamping" ground). We went down a storm and the only downside was when I had to turn down many, many offers of drinks as I was driving. First time I've used my Schroeder cab in anger and I was blown away. Which song went down best? Whisky in the Jar of course!!
4. Go for it mate. There was a beautiful blue 4003 on the Bay a few days ago. A fanastic colour in my opinion. Alex Harvey? Is that who the guy with the clown makeup played guitar for? Zal or Tal something....
5.
MB1. After the court case i think Mr hadley has to pay the rest of the spands, for the right to even wear gold!,let alone sing it! looks like youve been well and truly shukered too! Epedemic proportions! this now, gonna have to think about sending Dustin Hoffman in to find the Shuker antibody!....These Bassists Are Dropping Like Flies!.
It was too good an opportunity to be missed. I might even name it the MB1 Tribute model!!
6. Speaking of which, I saw Tony Hadley the other day at a Charity Ball. Unfortunately the bass player did have a trace of Gold on his bass anywhere!!
7.
Nice one Nick. I only live 20 minutes from Jon's place so I popped in a while back - nice guy and lovely gear. Decided to go down the MM route rather than a custom - but we all make mistakes. Your commission sounds sweet - but why not BLACK! Cheers, Mart
I seriously thought about black, but my logic was that if I'm going to get a custom bass made, I wanted to see the quality of the wood etc, so didn't go for a solid colour. It was a difficult decision though
8. Hi Guys It is actually the deep one (standard depth which I think is about 14"). Let me know if it's any good to you
9. As described, a 4u ABS Rack Unit for sale- excellent condition. Yours for £25 plus (say) £10 P&P or pickup from Surrey
10. They do sell Markbass Rack ears though (I've found them difficult to find elsewhere).
11. I've dealt with Terry at AMS before and he's always been pretty good (and knowledgable). I bought a Hartke from them ages ago and it was dead in the box. They exchanged it immediately. I reckon you'll get a refund pretty quickly. I got my LMK head from GAK and it arrived 2 days later. Might be worth a punt (the prices were pretty good too)
12.
err......yeah
LOL. I guess there's always room for one more
13.
yeah i've had it - sorry fella and cheers to Luke
I didn't think you had any spare room!!
14. Just had word from Jon that the build has started. Thanks for the feedback and also for the reassurance on the waiting time!!
15. I do. I can't really add much to what has been said already. Build quality isn't the best (I can't use a power adaptor on mine anymore as it keeps coming loose) but as a plug and play Compressor, I think it's a great bit of kit.
16.
How can it take *that* long to make a Bass?
I must admit, it did cross my mind too!! However, if that's the timeframe he's quoting from the outset, I can't complain if he DOES take 5 months...
17.
nice colour combo- trans blue on swamp ash, black guard and rosewood board. how are the pickups selected/switched?
The idea is to have one split volume pot for both pickups and one tone pot for both as well (similar to the stacked pots on the old Fender Jazzes)
18. TIme to confess all I guess. After many conversations with Si (Old Git) and then Jon Shuker, I've decided to ask Shuker to make a 5 String Precision for me (hence the reason I'm looking to sell my Lakland DJ5). Inspiration certainly came from Si's 5 Stringer, but this one should be markedly different. Spec is below and Jon has confirmed it will take a maximum of 5 months. I'd be very interested to hear what you think. Number of strings: 5 Body: Swamp ash Jean Jacques Burnel Precision shape Body thickness: 40mm Neck: 1 piece rock maple Fingerboard: Indian rosewood Number of frets: 20 Frets: Medium jumbo Fret markers: White Pearloid block markers/matching binding Side dots: Black Nut: Brass Pickups: 1x Delano Precision, 1x Delano Jazz Controls: 2 x split knobs (1x volume, 1x tone) Bridge: Schaller 2000 Machine heads: Hipshot Hardware: Chrome Pickguard: Black Pearloid Scale: 34" Width at nut: 45mm Depth at first fret 19.5mm Lacquer: Gloss Polyurethane Neck Lacquer: Satin Lacquer (15% gloss) Colour: Transparent Blue Electronics: Passive/ wide band tone cut Truss rod: 2-way and carbon reinforcements Head shape: 4+1 (as per P-Bass on Shuker website) The deposit has been paid, so now the long wait begins...
19. Every time I see one of these it reminds me of The Last Waltz. Rick Danko- another great musician who is sorely missed. A great looking bass mate with a very distinctive tone- well done
20.
MB1. Chris Squire eh? Here Today!.... Gone....Already!...... That were a quick one!
just wasn't meant to be mate.
