Nearly new Musicman Stingray 5- GONE!!
Old Horse Murphy replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Basses For Sale
Old Horse, If you ever feel tempted to sell your 4 string Teal Stingray, please let me know as I'd be interested in finding it a new home. Cheers, Mike
I'll bear it in mind Mike. I'm currently waiting for my other Stingray to come back from the workshop (I'm having it refinished). If I get on with that one as well as I do the Teal, I'll probably move one of them along. -
I've got a spotless Musicman Stingray 5 in tobacco burst (still have the cellophane on the original pickguard and barcode labels on the back on the body). It's still in warranty. I've fitted a WD Music black pickguard to it but it comes with the original white pearloid pickguard too, as well as original EBMM case. I've also got a black pickup cover if anyone is brave enough to swap them over. This really is immaculate and virtually unplayed. The best price I've found for these in the UK is £1,125 new, so I wondered if there was any interest on Basschat. I've got a couple of SR4's, so the sound I get from my 5 is very similar. Ideally I'm looking for a Bongo 5, but would be interested to hear in any other 5 stringers out there for a possible trade (with cash adjustment if necessary either way). Realsitically, I'd be looking for £875 for this (inc P&P). This really is "as new" so is over £250 off the shop price. Any questions, please let me know.

That Green Nordy Vj5 with the maple neck is stunning. I've seen a few pics of them in the past and must admit I've had a hankering for them for a while.

I've seen a lot of reviews about Lakland 5 strings mostly (DJ's) but would like to know how these compare to Sandbergs or even Lakland Joe Osborns. There's even a few G&L L2500's that look the business too. I've always been quite samey in my taste of basses (Fender or Musicman) and I'd like to see what else is out there. I must admit, I'm not particularly looking to invest in one right this moment (having just had to spend £600 on new brakes for my car and a service imminent too !!), but in the near future I'd certainly look at maybe getting one as a contrast to my Stingray 5 string. Any opinions would be appreciated.
Also, must be hard to play when you're horizontal...
Very true. Anyone's who's ever heard Spiderman's rendition of Layla will appreciate how difficult it must be to play an instrument while standing sideways on a wall

I'm looking at the Fulltone USA Bass Drive and wondered if anyone has used one of these or has any experience with it. Thanks

I've got a virtually new ABM500 for sale (still under warranty and in perfect order). The reason I'm selling it is Ibecause 've just bought the rack-mounted version. Forgive the pun, but there seems to be lots of Chinese Whispers about Ashdown gear at the moment (someone knows someone etc). I've never had any problems and the gear is heavily used.
Does anything really matter? Ever!
Every time someone breaks down an amplifier or a guitar/bass to sell, Baby Jesus cries.

The worse thing is, people actually bid on gear like this!!
First is his 100 year old double bass... couldn't get a full picture as I was having to hold it as well as take pics on my fone, but you get the idea.... Second pics are of his '61 P and '63 J... Niiiiiice basses!! I apologise for the poor picture quality, all taken on my fone!
Mate If (when) you decide to do him in, I'll help in exchange for the P Bass!!

I tend to take a 4 and a 5 string with me as I prefer playing 4 strings on a few of the rockier numbers where I use a pick. I could probably get by with just a 5 but I like using both of them EDIT: Just read the thread again. The only time I've had to use a backup due to failure etc was when I forgot to change the battery on my Stingray and the pick was farting and distorting all over the place.
hi there, are they official MusicMan pickguards and is the white one the matt finish and still available? many thanks bumpety.
Hi mate, the SR5 pearloid and the SR4 white pickguard are genuine MM pickguards. The white finish is the standard white MM pickguard, so not sure if this would be classified as matt or not. Unfortunately my wife has the camera and is visiting her parents at the moment so I can't take a picture. The SR5 Tortoisehell is made by WD Music and is celluloid (a really nice bit of kit). If you want it and it's the wrong type, you can return it for a full refund. Hope this helps Nick

I usually take 2 basses with me when I gig and sometimes a guitar too and instead of taking 2 or 3 separate stands with me, I'm thinking about buying a multiple set up. The 2 I've seen are the Hercules stand for 3 instruments or one of the Warwick Rockbass stands that holds 5 or so instruments. Has anyone got any experience with these or have any other recommendations?
Saw him at The Roundhouse earlier this year - a shadow of his former self, but still turned in a beautiful rendition of May You Never.
Saw him too at Shepherd's Bush Empire. He was so p*ssed nobody could understand him for the first half of the show. A real shame but I wouldn't miss him for the world. -
