1.
- I'm sure its just me, but I've seen Sting three times, once with the Police 2x on his own, and I have found him in concert to be the most boring git on the planet. So much so that the last time my wife found it hilarious that I was even bothering to go again, and yes he was still boring.
Just out of interest (and a real long shot) you never reviewed my last band for the Watford Observer did you?
2. I can't make the concert of the year and I'm not happy about it.... As a result, I've got 2 tickets to see The Police on Saturday 8th August. East Stand Middle tier (Block 132). Ticket face value of £90 each and for you Bass Chatters I'm willing to accept that. I'll post recorded delivery or am happy for the tickets to be picked up (Woking).
3. I only just found out I can't make it (don't ask- not happy.) A bad day...
4. I've actually got 2 tickets for Saturday at Twickenham if anyone is interested.
5. McVie and Fleetwood. Not the best musicians in the world, but they were so tight you wouldn't be able to get a cigarette paper between them. I guess that comes from 40 years of playing in the same band. I wish.......
6. I wonder if anyone can offer some advice. I am absolutely rubbish with electrics, so please bear with me. I've got a EH Big Muff and Small Stone Phaser on my board and have also got 2 of these to power them (120v ac 60hz 55mA input and 9v DC 100mA output I THINK). The EH Unit has the jack plug in rather than the female connector on the Boss pedals. Is there any way I can buy/make a chain that will run more than one pedal off of one adaptor Similar to the Boss Sssnake DC5, DC Cord, which allows you to run 5 effects off of the one daisy-chain? Any help would be much appreciated.
7. Pino Palladino Signature Fender Precision.
8. It's so I don't lose it. It might also save on electricity costs for lighting the house
9.
MB1. Didnt this used to be white?
How dare you!! No, funnily enough though, the white one is on it's way to being made metallic amber (like the Studebaker below). Not sure, but it might be just me and Stevie Wonder who likes this colour... I can assure you it was entirely my decision and nothing to do with certain BC'ers saying that white and gold was reminiscent of Spandau Ballet
10. This is the same colour as my Ray. Not everyone's cup of tea but I think it shows off the wood grain better than anything else. They also look cool with a Mirror plate...IMHO

12. I thought I'd post my current setup as it's changed quite recently. Not really everyone's cup of tea, but I'm happy with it!! My current amp setup is an Ashdown ABM500 Evo2 rackmounted amp, with an ABM 210 and an ABM 115 (both compacts). Ashdown seems to have a bit of a bad reputation at the moment, but I am more than happy with both the build quality and reliability. The sound is uniquely Ashdown and it suits me down to the ground. On top of the Amp is a Presonus Blue Max Compressor, an AKG 400 wireless unit and a Korg DTR 2000 tuner. On the floor usually goes an Aphex Bass Xciter, a Big Muff and that's about it. I recently sold my Line 6 Bass Pro XT to Luke as I never used it. I may add a decent expression pedal/wah. My basses are currently a Rickenbacker 4003 in Jetglo (stays at home), a MM Stingray 4 in Teal (with a smoke grey mirrored plate) and a Stingray 5. Both have maple fretboards and are beautiful (these are my gigging basses). Missing is my 1999 Stingray 4 which was originally white with gold hardware (MB1 accused it of looking like a Spandau Ballet bass). It's with The Guitar Doctor (Chorley) at the moment being refinished in a Metallic Amber colour I saw on a 1954 Studebaker. I'm also replacing the Stingray pickup with a Bartolini (just to add a bit of a different sound to my other Stingray) and a John East preamp (4 Eq). As soon as pictures are ready, I'll post them. Unfortunately, to get this lot together, I lost some good friends along the way (my DJ4 now with OBBM, my all-black US Precision now with Martthebass, a sunburst Stingray with rosewood board and my Bongo in Lava Pearl). The bits I'd like to add to this lot (money and wife permitting) are a US Precision (I still miss my old one), a Bongo 5 and a fretless (I think).
13.
Its in the wrong forum mate!! Si
Well spotted....
14. I've got a couple of Stingray pickguards for sale as they are now surplus to requirements: SR4 GENUINE MM SR4 pickguards 1 x WHITE (1999) and 1 x BLACK (2003). Both have a few marks on them, but are genuine and no breakages/warping at all. I'm looking for £15 each plus £3 p&p. SR5 - GENUINE MM SR5 pickguard in white pearloid (still with protective cover). £35 plus £3 p&p. - WD Music SR5 pickguard in tortoiseshell (model number STGB-5405). 4-ply made with real celluloid. This has been put on my bass and taken off again (fussy git) and is excellent condition. It cost me £45 new and is yours for £35 plus £3 p&p. I'm also selling an Ashdown ABM 500 EVO 2 (575 watt) amp head with genuine Ashdown cover. It's a few months old in excellent condition (never been out the house and still under full warranty). Currently selling in the shops for £499. Yours for £375 ONO. In addition, I have an excellent condition Sennheiser Freeport wireless system for sale. New they cost £130. Mine is as new and will cost you £85.
15. I've just borrowed a SR4 off a friend of mine (single Humbucker model) and regardless of what I do to the eq, amp etc is making a distorted sound. I've compared this to my SR4 and SR5 through the same setup and both of these sound clean. Would anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? I'm a bit confused by it all... Thanks
16. Bass Pod XT Pro now provisionally sold to Luke. Ashdown ABM500 EVO 2 head still available (best offer around £375). It's a few months old in immaculate condition and under full warranty. ALSO now for sale a Sennehiser FP72 Freeport wireless system. It's UHF, 4 channel and a great bit of kit. 3 months old and in immaculate condition (the aerial on the battery pack is a bit bent, but it's made of wire and plastic). New, this will cost £115. My one (as new) is yours for £85 plus £6 p&P. Thanks Nick
17. Forgot to mention. I once had a lift home by John Craven from a Gig in Amersham...
18.
I saw her supporting the Prince gig a couple of weeks ago - she's an awesome performer. Talk about intense!! She was really going for broke at the Aftershow party. I'd like to go see her at the Albert Hall when she plays in London in November on her 2007 tour.
I knew her for years (she went out with one of my best mates) and she always talked about becoming a professional singer. We got together for a few performances and did a version of Sweet Love by Anita Baker. I've never heard anything like it and got so hooked on her voice that I nearly lost my place a few times! A really nice person too. It's one of those friendships I wish I'd have kept going. Coat-tailing? Moi?
19. Played in a band with Beverley Knight at university and once (surprisingly) played saxophone on The Nearness of You with Humphrey Littleton at Cheltenham Race Course.
