1. Can anyone recommend a (reasonably priced) rackable DI at all? Thanks
2. Guys Sadly our rehearsal studio we use (Riotclub in Hounslow) is closing this week. We were there last night and Lee (owner) has confirmed he is selling a few amps and cabs. The 2 I was interested in was a Trace Elliott Bass Combo (pretty tatty but what a sound!!) and an Ashdown ABM410 (again, tatty but working properly). In addition, there was a TE guitar head going too. I'm not sure what the exact models were, but he was asking for £120 for the TE Bass combo!! It had a 7 bnd Graphic EQ, XLR DI socket, reverb etc. I would've had it but so far this month I've bought a MM Bongo and a Stingray and my wife would absolutely murder me!! They guy's name is Lee and his number is 020 8572 8809. Maybe worth a bit more investigation....
3. Guys I'm selling 2 Boss Effects pedals and thought I would put them on BC before they go to The 'Bay... Boss LMB-3 Bass Limiter/Enhancer- £40 plus £4 P&P Boss DD3- Digital Delay with Hold function- £55 plus £4 P&P Both are less than 2 months old and still under full warranty (I'll supply receipts to back the warranty up). I will also be selling a TU-2 Tuner in the very near future once I get my Korg back. Cheers Murph
4. It was pretty light from what I remember and there was no neck dive at all.
5. Looks like everyone is pleased all round. The Bongo (despite my wife thinking it looks like something out of Battlestar Galactica) if fantastic!!
6. I am looking to sell or P/Ex my recently-bought backup US P Bass. I bought this in June 07 as a backup to my 1989 P- Bass and quite honestly, I've not really got round to using it. I currently play in a 3-piece and the Precision isn't quite cutting through enough for my liking. I've just bought a MM Bongo and am also looking for a MM Stingray or Sterling and am willing to p/ex the P-Bass and pay cash difference if the right bass comes along. This is a 2007 model with S1 switching, black with a black Fender pickguard. It's in fantastic condition apart from a skinny scratch (lacquer only) on the top horn. I've tried to catch this in the photos but it's not come out too well. This was there when I bought it and is really not noticeable. Genuine Fender case with all the candy comes with this. This is a great looking and sounding bass and delivers exactly what you would expect a P-Bass to be (everyone should own one of these). I'm sorry to see it go, but need something that offers me different sounds. Any leads, enquiries or offers would be most welcome.
7. The Boss LMB-3 Bass Limited/Enhancer Pedal Smoothes out your playing by eliminating harsh volume peaks, even when using dynamic slap and pop techniques. Ratio and Threshold knobs allow precise control of limiting parameters. 2 months old, excellent condition, boxed but without original manual (i'll provide a copy downloaded from the Boss website) and copy of receipt for guarantee purposes. £40 plus £4 P&P.
8. Not sure if any of you have seen his, but here's a live performance of Jack Bruce and Rory Gallagher playing Politician together on German TV. These 2 guys are my heroes and to me, it doesn't get any better than this!! Enjoy... http://youtube.com/watch?v=8mqZqhTl4A8
9. Sold to a fellow Bass Chatter!! Thanks very much for the sale and you looked very happy with it.
10. Ah!! makes perfect sense. The track has gotrPaul Buchanan from The Blue Nile singing on it and Robert Bell is from The Blue Nile too. Thanks for that. It's been bugging me all day
11. Just took delivery of my MM Bongo this afternoon. A 2007 in lava pearl, 2 Humbuckers and still with the film over the pickguard! I know they're an acquired taste and if I'm honest I'd still probably have gone for a Stingray or a Sterling, but for £750 I think it's a pretty good deal. I'l try and put some pics up soon and I'm pretyt sure it will divide the Forum!! Maybe this is how Damien Hirst feels.....
12. Breaking the rules by Robbie Robertson (off the Storyville album). Not sure who plays it but it's a fine example of understatement and filling the gaps with 1 or 2 notes. Sends shivvers down my spine. And then there's Peg by Steely Dan (bassline by Chuck Rainey)- absolute joy on 4 strings!!
13. I'd go for for a 4-piece I saw on Youtube a while back a live recording of Rory Gallagher (God rest) on guitar and vocals and Jack Bruce on bass and vocals. They performed Politican and Born under a bad sign. It was possibly one of the most amazing jams I've ever seen and the inter-play between the 2 was incredible. add to that say, a keyboard player like Billy Preston and a drummer like Steve White or Zak Starky and I'd be a happy man!!
14. I think I'm going to go for it (at the expense of a Fender US Precision Deluxe offered by bass Central at a fantastic price). I hope I'm doing the right thing....watch this space. it may be for sale very soon!!
15. I'm selling my Boss ODB3 pedal as I don't use it in my setup. 2 months old, boxed with instructions and in immaculate condition. Any takers---- SOLD!!!
16. It's a pretty good pedal and goes from a nice fuzz thru to completely OTT Distortion. I have one (2 months old) for sale. Immaculate condition with box, paperwork etc- I just don't use it in my set up.
17. Thanks guys I've been using my US P-Bass for rehearsing recently and as we play in a 3 piece, I'm struggling a bit to cut through. As it happens, I've just been offered a Bongo ( HH (bought new in April) for £750, which seems a reasonable price to me. If the tone's as good as everyone says, then it should compliment my P-Bass' THUMP nicely
18. Guys I'd be very interested to know what you think about Musicman Bongos
19. My first bass is still round my Mum's somewhere. It was an SG shaped Westbury refinished in black car paint with a P-Bass pickup. The first thing I did was take the frets out and fill it with plastic wood (I wanted to be Pino Palladino- just a phase, I swear). I think i paid £15 for it. Memories eh?
20. I've seen Limehouse Lizzy a few times and agree with you. They're fantastic. Sadly, I never got to see the real deal
21. Welcome aboard mate. Nice to hear there's another all-black P-Bass fan!! Ideally I'd like a mirrored pickguard but that then leaves me a mighty reputation to live up to (PHil Lynott God bless him) Murph
22. I'll have to wander down there soon. There's nothing like beer and good music!!
23. Evening all- I haven't been down there yet but I've heard it's pretty good. Apparently there's a good open mic night in Guildford too. Any ideas?
24. Hi all I came across this website when Paul kindly gave me the link after seeing my Lakland for sale on Ebay. Of course I had to join immediately!! my name is Murph and I am currently based in Woking. I play bass in a newly formed (by a group of flea-bitten, jaded old musos) covers band called Growler (my wife hates the name!!) We'll hopefully be in a postion around September where we can start gigging again and I can't wait!! My current kit consists of a Fender Precision (my baby), Rick 4003 and my Lakland (which I'm hoping to excahnge with a Musicman Stingray or Sterling). Ampwise I've got som Ashdown kit at the moment. Anyway, nice to meet you all. Murph
25. I've tried a few units in my time and am currently using the Freeport. It certainly does the business for me and the bodypack bounces if dropped too!!
