  1. I've heavily customised the hover board by adding wheels to it and taking away the hover functionality. It's got a Badass bridge on it too, so it must be worth more than it originally cost me due to the improvements. I don't know, £6,000?
  2. Sorry I've got a hover board, but I'll consider a trade with one of Huey Lewis' harmonicas
  3. PM'd! On second thoughts the pink would clash with my bloodshot eyes. Such a shame...
  4. * UPDATED- black one now sold. Just the Passive one left* Well, I've got three of these beauties and having recently acquired another headless bass, I need to save up for a mullet and a jacket with rolled up sleeves. This is a 1987 walnut coloured passive Jack weighing it at 7lbs 7oz. It's got a few chips and dings but it has been gigged regularly but not abused. The neck is nice and straight and it has a stupidly low action which could do with raising a bit due to the warmer weather. The frets are in decent nick too. I've also fitted one of the string adaptors which means it can be strung with regular strings as well as double ball ends. It's held in place by string tension so it can be removed effortlessly. It has an intermittent issue with the barrel Jack socket that seems to happen on all these old Hohners and very occasionally cuts out briefly. It's an easy fix apparently but I've never got round to it and it's never played up when I've gigged it. *SOLD* The second is a 1988 active/passive model in the rarer black finish and weighing 7lbs 12oz. It's in really good condition for its age with minimal wear and tear. Again it's fitted with the string adaptor and again the neck is great with a low action. The active/passive circuit works fine which is unusual for one of these as they're normally dead as dodos. It even has the lesser-spotted battery cover that is usually missing. Again, it has an intermittent issue with the barrel Jack socket and again it sometimes cuts out briefly. It's an easy fix but I've not bothered with it as it doesn't happen regularly. It's worth mentioning though. I'm looking for £300 including postage. I'll be sad to see them go but I have another one to help me get by.
  5. Yes, my cases are all in a cupboard and rarely get used (if at all). I take my basses to gigs/rehearsals in my Mono Double gigbag. That said, I still like the ceremony of opening a hard case to see the bass inside. I wish they added a light to the lid like in a fridge to add a bit more drama!
  6. Just picked this up in a trade. I've owned a 3000 and a S2 Headed 5 String before but never a Kingbass. I'm closer in playing style to Billy Jean King than I am to Mark King but the combination of the 32" scale and the 16.5mm spacing feels really good. I forgot how nice graphite necks are too play too. The body shape is taking a bit of getting used to and the lower frets feel a long way away due to the placement of the strap button. It's early days though and although I can dial in some great sounds, I do feel a bit of a fraud in playing a stunt bass Here it is with my other recent acquisition; a Fender US 75th Anniversary P Bass. Talk about chalk and cheese...
  7. I certainly used to suffer from gear snobbery when I was younger, but as I've got older and more experienced I'll often gig with my cheapest instruments as they play better or suit what I'm playing better. I've been known to gig everything from £120 up to several thousands of pounds: if it's right it's right. If anyone comments on my gear choice (which I've had on occasion) I generally just shrug, smile sweetly and tell them it's what I choose to play right now.
  8. Found a convenient window sill for our gig on Saturday. Most of the FOH sound goes through the PA, but it certainly helped with the monitoring!
  9. I've recently watched the first two episodes and am still on the fence. I'm too young to have experienced The Sex Pistols in real life and I'm not a massive (or any sized) fan of the band and never will be, so I can really comment on whether the facts and indeed the overall vibe, are accurate. Viewing it a stand-alone drama, it's okay and seems to be well scripted. If I didn't have an idea of who Lydon or McLaren are I'd say the characters are completely OTT and very unrealistic. Knowing the limited amount I do though, they seem to be well cast.
  10. I've been asked about trades and although I'm really looking for a straight sale, my head could be turned for a Stingray Special 5 String as long as it's lightweight, or a Fender US P Bass (possibly an American Original) with cash my way.
  11. For sale is my lovely Stentor Student 3/4 sized Double Bass (model 1950) with solid top and laminated back and sides. It's around 10 years old at a guess but is in overall very good condition apart from the odd chip (pictured). It comes with the original padded cover and bow. It has recently been strung with D'Addario Helicore strings which are a nice medium/low action and is being set up (including fitting a decent adjustable bridge) by those great guys in The Bristol Violin Shop. It's a lovely colour and not that awful fake tan, luminous orange colour that a number of entry-intermediate levels DB's seem to come in. It's a really decent DB for the money and has stood me in good stead but I have recently upgraded. I'm looking for £630 picked up from near Monmouth but am happy to travel an hour or so to hand this over. I'm happy to include a super Tom and Will gigbag for £700 all in if a potential buyer prefers.
  12. I've got a couple of 3/4 sized DB gig bags for sale and I'll keep whichever one doesn't sell first. The first one is a virtually new black shower-resistant well padded gigbag with built in wheels. It also comes with a shoulder strap and more handles than you can possibly imagine. It also has lots of pockets and a pouch for a bow. It's very well padded and lightweight too. It cost £130 new and has only been used to store the bass indoors. Yours for £110 inc. delivery. The second is a Tom and Will blue/black gigbag with shoulder straps and lots of pockets (including a bow pouch). It has some wear and looks a bit untidy at the bottom (who doesn't?) but it doesn't affect stability or protection. It's very well padded and quite a beast. These cost of £250 new. Yours for £140 inc. delivery.
  13. I bought this new recently to fit to my old DB but now have a DB with one already fitted so this is no longer required. It's brand new in the box with all accessories and paperwork. Sadly I've just missed the return window so am selling it for £130 inc. postage, which is a chunky saving on one from a retailer.
  14. I personally found absolutely nothing wrong with the preamp. Granted I'm not a "hifi" preamp aficionado, but it was plenty musical enough and I managed to get a nice array of "passive on steroids" sounds from it.
  15. Thanks! You've saved me the effort of writing my own gig review. This was exactly the same as our own experience: the second set was great but for the first set there was more of us on stage than in the audience
  16. I remember the Probe! 😂
  17. Chris was kind enough to sell me one of his Mark Bass NY121 cabs which arrived in super-quick time and in excellent condition. His communication was brilliant throughout and I'm very happy with the deal. Highly recommended.
  18. I'm really glad it worked out for you 👍
  19. Goodness, they must've really wanted the sale. That's exceptional customer service 😮
  20. Horses for courses but I've always found Music Man's rosewood fingerboard to be a thing of beauty. That said, on the earlier glossy necks with the gorgeous figuring I'd completely agree about the maple fingerboards 👍
