  1. I've been asked a few times about trades int hai and while I'm not looking for any more basses, I'd consider a trade with a Mark Bass CMD121P combo. Edit: trades for a Markbass combo now no longer needed
  2. I had one of these and gigged it for a good few years. Lovely bass and really useful in self defence.
  3. Just thinking about old times as I do some days and it struck me just how much I miss Bass Gear and my frequent jaunts across to see Barrie @molan Phil and the dearly departed Vic. It was always a special place to; my own Tiffany's as it were and I was always made to feel very welcome. Great times 😊
  4. I've not had this too long and as lovely as it is, I can't justify keeping it. It's a lovely 1984 Aria RSB Deluxe bass in quite a rare Blue/Black Burst finish and is in overall excellent condition for a bass of it's age but there are the odd scuffs and dings (nothing significant though). It weighs under 8 1/2lbs and the frets have a lot of life left in the. It's got a lovely slim neck and plays really well. The electrics are all original and the switches all work as they should (there are various coil taps and pickup voicing switches). Im looking for £350 plus £20 delivered. It will be sent in a hard case that's tatty but built like a tank. I'm not looking for trades thanks.
  5. Congrats to you both. That spare head on your shoulder is pretty snazzy too 😂
  6. Good man. That really is the long game!
  7. Wow. Either you're an early starter or my calculations are wrong! I reckon you'd be 3 when you fell in love. Out of interest your missus wasn't in Brotherhood of Man was she?
  8. Thanks chaps. It's certainly a looker and the rosewood fingerboard is one of the nicest bits of rosewood I've seen in a long time
  9. For sale is my 2021 Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass limited edition with the limited run rosewood fingerboard. It's in immaculate condition and weighs in at 9lbs. I have a love/hate relationship with Jazzes but this is the closest I've come to perfection in terms of Jazz basses. Sadly though, they still don't work ergonomically. It comes with all accessories, hang tags, case and after market Pearloid pickguard as well as the original black one. These are really hard to come by right now and cost over £1,600 new. I'm looking for £1,400 delivered insured. No trades please.
  10. I should've said, I've got a Bigshot but have two basses in to it so it's a bit of a faff to add another instrument. Plus (as you say) Gas is Gas 😂
  11. I've got a few gigs coming up very shortly where I'll be using both my electric bass and my NS EUB. I'd like to get a small combo to play the NS through that will be used mostly for monitoring as the main feed will go from the combo to the PA. I have played it through my bass rig and it sounds fine, but there's quite a lot going on in my effects set up including an electric bass preamp, compressor, Instrument selector, preamp for my EUB etc. and although it's fine, I end up doing a bit of a tap dance when switching between instruments. I led also like a small combo to use for EUB gigs on its own anyway. I had a Markbass CMD121P before and it was very good but is there anything else anyone would recommend please? I'm not looking to spend a fortune and would ideally like to get something before the gigs this weekend. Thanks
  12. Cold sweat running down my spine thinking that my amp was dead. I forgot to plug the speakon in to the back of the cab. I wouldn't mind but I've done it several times and each time I've panicked
  13. Barry White Sharting in a deep sided warm bath with eucalyptus scented Radox in it.
  14. I gigged my G&L L-2000 last weekend. It's monstrous and so versatile (almost too versatile?) sound-wise. It was brilliant though and just a thoroughly lovely bass.
  15. Stingray Special in my favourite colour scheme 😊
  16. Both Jacks are now fitted with the string adaptors (allowing non-double ball end strings) and restrung with my favourite nickel Roundwounds. Those adaptors are a bloomin' marvel and completely transform the basses for me and make them eminently more playable.
  17. This is one from gosh, 15 years ago? I was still playing some serious rugby, hence the lack of neck and rather broad shoulders. I actually look more like I'm partaking in a haka than singing backing vocals.
  18. Wow. That's lovely. These were a bit too early for me first time around and I have no recollection of them at all. I became a huge fan of Arias in the late-80's/early 90's though. They seemed so different from everything else available.
  19. For sale is a Zero Mod SR1 thumb rest designed for Stingray 4 string basses with oval pickguards. They're fitted without the need for drilling extra holes etc. as they use the original pickguard mounting screw holes. It comes with screws and fitting instructions. These cost $40 plus shipping from the US. I'm selling this for £30 inc. postage.
  20. I've always tied their left hand behind their back
  21. So after my recent acquisition of a 1988 active Hohner Jack (in black as yer 'at) I am completely smitten, partly I'm sure due to rose-tinted glasses remembering my youth, but partly because they're bloody good basses. I intermittently check EBay and Facebook Marketplace to see if anything of interest comes up. On Saturday, I found a 1987 Jack Bass (this time a passive one in the dark natural finish) not too far from me that had been advertised as a "Johnson Horner bass from the late 70's/early 80's" whatever that might be. The photos told a different story though and after I contacted the seller, she told me she'd advertised it on behalf of her Dad who wasn't on Facebook. After a short call with him (lovely guy) I headed down to take a look. It's a bit scruffy but nothing too major and it had quite a high action due to the really thick double ball strings on it. It also has a bit of a temperamental Jack socket that I'm hoping just needs a good clean and maybe the contacts bending in a bit more. It sounds immense though and after a bit of fettling has a lovely action and plays really well. I didn't realise they released a passive version but I really like it. I also recently bought a rather lovely Aria RSB Deluxe dating back to 1984. It's in really good overall nick and the electrics sound amazing considering it's passive. I've always loved Arias and this one plays beautifully too and weighs in at just over 8lbs. They'll both be gigged this weekend and I must say it's rather nice to have something other than Fenders/Stingrays to play for a change. They always certainly attract a bit more of appreciative attention from people in the know, although that may be because of my winning smile and come-to-bed eyes...
