Sold Mat my SR5 and then we had a great game of Treasure Hunt today, trying to track down where the courier had left it. All was absolutely fine in the end but it was all rather fraught for a while! Mat kept his cool throughout and made the whole deal very easy. Highly recommended 😊

I had an active bass for four years before realising that that had a passive switch by pulling the tone knob up. I still have no idea how to use an Effects Loop

I can't actually remember the last time I listened to the radio. It must've been Jazz FM or something -

A bit like the sigh at the start of Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley -

Whichever is easier. As there's no clues given, I'd go for one note on the recording. -
For those of us old enough to remember the seminal game show Name That Tune (although I hasten to add I was pre-teens, possibly pre-double figures when it finished), what songs could you name after one note/chord/word/sigh/sound of the recording? If it helps, make it two notes I'll keep it to two examples for me and it's One Day Like This by Elbow (love that tune) and Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears (possibly my favourite pop song of all time). I'm sure there are more that I could pick out but there the ones that instantly spring to mind.

I never realised just how similar the treble pickup of the 4003 is to the Ray.

Gotta love Sundays 😂 Actually it's an interesting exercise, unlike mine. I spent the afternoon working out which basses from which manufacturers I've gigged with vs. which ones I've owned but never gigged. Really useful stuff!

( Unexpected) NBD: Hohner The Jack- a schoolboy crush
Old Horse Murphy replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Bass Guitars
I took it to rehearsal on Monday night after fitting one of those new-fangled string adaptors to it so I could string it with my favourite Ernie Ball Super Slinky roundwounds. It was supposed to be for a bit of fun and nostalgia but I ended up using it all night. The active preamp is a monster and it gets very bassy very quickly. I loved it. It needs a good set up and a bit of a clean but it's absolutely fantastic and I had a great time. The 24 frets threw me a bit but nobody seemed to notice -
It's 8lbs 7oz 😊

Thanks. Well, the SR5 hasn't been used in over 3 months, so make me an offer 😉

I bought a cheapish Pearloid pickguard to give it a go and I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. I'm not sure at this stage whether I'd bother buying a more expensive one as the one on it is actually pretty decent. It's by a company called Musiclily and was bought on Amazon for £13 inc delivery. It came with a set of pickguard screws and some picks which was a nice touch. It's a pretty exact fit for a US Fender as sometimes I've found more expensive pickguards aren't quite right and I was damned if I was going to order a proper Fender one for silly money to find I didn't like it.

Glad to have been of some help Davie and I'm pleased you like the bass. The colour is amazing in the flesh

( Unexpected) NBD: Hohner The Jack- a schoolboy crush

Thanks. I've just been playing it but really need to wait until I restring it. I've just put in on a strap and it definitely wants to be worn at a jaunty angle but it definitely feels a lot more comfortable (and natural) than a B2A which always sat out a bit too far to the left for me. -
This was bought for a run of big gigs that sadly succumbed to COVID and the band is unfortunately no more. It's been rehearsed with but never gigged. It's the latest version of the G10Sii wireless guitsr system that cost me £199. Also included is an extra transmitter that cost an additional £96 but I'll also include an extension lead and two right angle adaptors. All is in immaculate condition and perfect working order. It's still covered by warranty too should there be any issues (which I'd be happy to invoke if needed). The total set up cost £315 a very short while ago. I'm looking for £220 delivered.
