The new US Stingray Specials really are something else and as much as I like mid- late 80's Rays, I think the new ones are well worth trying out if you can find one.
The build quality is superb, the new beefed up electronics are brilliant and they now weigh around (if not under) 8lbs so are really comfortable too.

I've been pondering this thread for quite a while now and I'm pretty certain Level 42 is before Level 43. Following the same logic it's after Level 41.

I went and saw Ray Sawyer with my Mum at the London Palladium at least 30 years ago now. It was a good night.
I've missed out on seeing Dennis playing but he still tours with a band apparently. There were a couple of gig videos he recorded while on tour over here a few years back and he still sounds ace.

I still use a Fender P Bass for funk.
Admittedly I didn't realise it was funk until several of my band mates asked "what the funk are you playing?"-

I'm listening to a 30th birthday celebration of Nevermind. It's an album I never bought, and it never really got into my veins when it was released.
I know most of the songs obviously but at the time it was all a bit, well, meh. I'm the same with quite a lot of that year's "must have" albums (I didn't buy Use Your Illusion, My Bloody Valentin'e Loveless or Metallica's Black Album either).
Looking back at the albums of the year the only ones I remember buying were Out of Time (REM), Don't Try this at Home (Billy Bragg), It's a Shame About Ray (Lemonheads) and Diamonds and Pearls (Prince) and Blood Sugar..(RHCPs). Clearly I was backing the wrong horses.
A brother from another mother. This just about sums up my recollection of 30 years ago, right down to the purchases you made and the reaction towards Nevermind which left me cold. -

As long as my 2021 ordered and not yet received Shuker doesn’t count towards a fail in 2022, I think I could be in with a shout next year.
This has to be the law. I'm in the same boat!-

With your Mark Kingly and wasp-waist and swivel-hippy, show you had, and I must say it showed it first self in pictures with the rhythmic contrapole of the wobbling of the hipper, sideways with the thumb and tilty, gave him that expression both also with a little doggy-lublike in the eyebold which he conveyed to the smaller femailode of the specie, coupled with his music because he did trittly-how fine on the strims, helped him along the roamer [....] I heard it first of all in Macari's in the early mordy: I was doing the shavit-huff with my razor blade, which of course is a safety one, and suddenly, suddenly he did a little slappity syncopole or a drop-it and how, or something he did and caused a jerkit over a pimplode and I've been suffering ever since!
Ah, crystal clear. Thanks for clarifying!-

It's like reading Under Milkwood without the Welsh names....
I'm waiting for the Brodie's Notes to come out. I have no idea what's going on.

I went rather overboard in 2021 and am determined 2022 is going to be a year of not buying any more kit; instead a year for actually using the gear I've got far more than I did in 2020 and 2021 due to circumstances largely outside of my control (well, most of the population's control).
I'm still on the lookout for a Hohner B2A or Jack bass but other than that (and any strings I may need although in all the years I've been playing I've yet to break one and I'm sure I have enough spares lying around) I need to be strong and stuck to my guns for once.
Please think of me in your prayers.

I've asked Guitar Guitar to weigh items for me before and to be fair, each store where they've had stock has come back with a weight relatively quickly.

Any of the live Marillion albums are worth a listen to to hear Pete Trewavas at his best.
John Mayer's Try is great for hearing Pino in his pomp

It's similar Dave, but nowhere near as blue as the DJ4. It's really a dark turquoise but really difficult to capture in camera.

I recently acquired a Miami Blue Fender P Bass and wondered if a tortoise shell pickguard goes with it cue evil tortoise haters...)
The colour of the bass is more turquoise than on the photos and the last pick is probably the closest to the actual colour.
The pickguard is a bit duller than it really is as it still has the protective film on it.
Does the tortoise shell work? If not I'm going to put a black one in it.

Maybe they just got tired of our sh*t
For whatever the reason I hope they're happy, healthy and still playing Bass.
