For sale is my gorgeous 2011 Fender Japan Mustang Bass in Vintage White. I bought this as an alternate to my Fender JMJ but with that at my Sandberg Lionel it's not really had a look in sadly and is way too good to be sat there looking pretty. It's alder bodied with a lovely rosewood fingerboard. It's recently been set up and strung with a set of Ernie Ball Nickel Slinkys and plays beautifully. It's a 30" scale so plays very easily and super-fast. Weight-wise it's coming in at 8.2lbs on my luggage scales. To be safe though I'd assume it's a few oz heavier but it's under 8 1/2lbs for sure. It has been fully shielded by copper tape by the previous owner and plays and sounds great. Condition-wise is excellent apart from a pin sized ding on the lower edge of the body and a bit of scuffing (pictured). These are high quality basses that are super value. There's no gig bag or case but it will be securely wrapped for posting if required. I'm looking for £900 picked up from near Monmouth or within an hour's drive. I'm happy to post fully insured for another £20.

Andertons now advertising Vintera II

Yeah, the white is more accurate I guess but I've never really liked white/cream basses unfortunately so the green was my fave -

I'm really tempted mate, I need to shift a few bits first but I was really impressed. They let me try it on a strap too and it felt really good and comfortable which I was surprised about given that I've switched to short scales predominantly. The colour in the flesh is really nice too. I didn't see one of the vintage white ones but the surf green ticked all the boxes for me. -
For sale is my back up amp which has pretty-much been sitting in my cupboard unused for quite a while. My main amp is a Mark Bass Tube 800 and I love Mark Bass gear so wanted to get a similar back up should I ever need it (which I've not). It's a Markbass Ninja 1000, complete with original box and a very well padded messenger bag I've been keeping it in. It is in overall excellent condition (a few small marks) and sounds phenomenal. These will push out 1000w at 4 ohms from what is a very small and light box. Yours for £425 delivered fully insured.

I had a play on one of the 70's Tele Basses in Surf Green yesterday and loved it. The one I tried only weighed 8 1/2lb which for a slab body is a good weight in my eyes. The neck was lovely and it had been set up with a nice low action. The whole bass was put together really well. Sound-wise it's a lot more versatile than I thought, especially if you vary right hand position and playing where I usually play (mid-way between bridge and the start of the neck) and with tone on full reminded me very much of a 4003 neck pickup which someone else in this thread alluded to. It's a sound I love: deep and slightly "fizzy" and just the right side of warm before moving in to a bit too warm for me. Definitely a 70's sounding vibe from the music I love. -
The function band I needed this for is going nowhere so I'm putting this up for sale. It's an immaculate 2021 Sandberg California 2 VM5 in gloss natural with black block inlays (an extra cost option). It's 34" scale and weighs in at near-enough 8lb 5oz! The 2 band eq also allows for a passive bypass and it sounds and plays brilliantly with a lovely low action. It comes with the original Sandberg gigbag, paperwork and Allen keys. It's a real shame to see this go to waste. I'm looking for £1,300 picked up from near Monmouth or happy to travel within an hour's drive. I'll post insured for an extra £30. I'll try and take some more pics soon. No trades thanks.

Fender Road Worn series - have I been had???
Old Horse Murphy replied to Duroc17's topic in Bass Guitars
That doesn't look like an official roadworn to me, sorry. The ones I've seen certainly don't have "craters" like that where the paint wear is. I'd say that's been (and I'm being polite), f*cked around with by someone at home. Possibly Stevie Wonder?- 83 replies

I'm really very unsentimental and hate too much clutter so I generally don't keep anything. I wish I did (had) but it's not in my nature sadly. I never kept any of my rugby memorabilia either and gave away all my shirts etc. to friends. I still have the memories though, although they seem to be dimming daily!

Fender limited edition Mike Kerr Jaguar...Tiger's Blood Orange!
Old Horse Murphy replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
The pole pieces on my one don't align directly over the string and this has been the case on a number of guitars and basses I've owned in the past. Other than aesthetics it really doesn't affect sound or playability and if there has been a tiny discernible difference in sound output, raising the pickup one side marginally helps. -
I agree with all the above but do find the pickups are a bit brighter too (both the Sandberg and to a lesser extent the Delanos). I swapped out the pickup from my passive Sandberg P for something a little darker and prefer the sound, not that I had a massive dislike for the original. They definitely feel far better made and better appointed than Fenders. I recall the bodies are vibration treated (don't ask me what that is or if it's applied to every Sandberg) but the bodies certainly seem to "sing" more.

Jimmy bought a pedal off me recently in a totally hassle-free deal. Great comms and a great guy. Highly recommended.

Same for me, and remembering to take the jack plug out when I'm not playing it (d'oh!)

So after a disappointing gig on Saturday where the JMJ performed admirably alongside my Sandberg Lionel I decided to make my mate an offer he couldn't refuse. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing I'm pleased to say that the JMJ is now mine.

For sale is a 4114 Custom Effects F-Dec Clone HPF pedal with a separate boost. It's in excellent condition and built like a tank. There are a couple of screws missing from the bottom but it hasn't affected use or resilience at all when I've had it mounted on my pedalboard. Yours for £55 inc delivery.

Really disappointing one last night. I depped with our singer's other band and we played a holiday camp in the Forest of Dean. Arrived to set up at 7 and were told we had to wait until the bingo had finished which we did, and as soon as it did finish the bingo caller left with about 90% of the punters and in truth the evening never recovered. The band was pretty sloppy with missed cues, untidy starts and endings etc. I really felt quite low after it and considering I was the dep, felt the other band members were really just going through the motions. Makes me feel grateful for the band I'm in.

Fender limited edition Mike Kerr Jaguar...Tiger's Blood Orange!
Old Horse Murphy replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
They're still a bit off but it's made absolutely no different to volume and in truth I can probably count on one hand the Fender basses (or Music Man for that matter) where the strings have line up absolutely precisely with all the pole pieces. The angle of the photo doesn't help either and it makes it look less lined up than they are. -

Old Horse Murphy replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
The one I picked up is flawless and indeed all I did was to change the strings and action. The bridge pickup is akin to the Gibson mini humbucker on the SG bass or similar. It doesn't do it for me sonically on its own and I would never use it on it individually. My choice obviously. Combined with the neck pickup though it sounds very good but for me, the money shot is the neck pickup. It sounds anything other than weak and flat. I didn't pay £1,500 and was given the luxury of playing it in the shop for as long as I wanted so I had a real chance to see if I liked it. If it had been for sale at £1,500 I'd certainly have thought about it a bit more but it still would've inevitably come home with me as it's certainly on par with anything else I've bought at that price point. -
So the trip/gig in Scotland has been cancelled due to logistical reasons but the good news is I've picked up one locally on Saturday which means I get to use the JMJ after all. The only downside is that I'm not going to see my mate for a fair while to hand the bass back. I'm mean, what's a man to do....😆

Not sure if this is considered an effect or not, but it's certainly a pedal. For sale is my Radial Bigshot i/o instrument selector, allowing you to effectively select between two instruments going in to one amp/pedalboard. It's allows you to trim the volume on me of the channels too to even put sound levels etc. as is just a great tool to have. They're built like a tank too. New they seem to be around £135. Mine is boxed and in excellent condition and I'm looking for £70 delivered.
