  1. I really like it. I recently bought a Fender JMJ Mustang and as lovely and impressive as it was I found with the small body and shorter scale it felt cramped and uncomfortable playing it. Because the Guild body is so large however, it sits a lot more comfortably and whereas I struggled a bit in the past with the Epiphone Jack Cassidy being a big body with 34" scale neck, this one with the shorter scale fits right for me. Seriously, for the price point of these basses I'd highly recommend trying them out if you get the chance. I'm really impressed with them and compared to a number of my other basses which in some cases cost 5 times more than the Guild, I wouldn't say there was a discernible difference in quality.
  2. For sale is my Ampeg PF800 amp and the correct Ampeg padded bag that cost an additional £60. Both are under 12 months old and have only been gigged once. The amp comes with the original box and paperwork. I'll put some photos up shortly but am having trouble uploading them right now. Everything is absolutely immaculate though. Yours for £420 inc postage.
  3. The Warwick gig bag arrived today and it's a perfect fit. Thanks again to @kristo for the recommendation 👍
  4. Thanks. You're absolutely right; I'm just an inveterate tinkerer, so anything more than a single tone knob leaves me dizzy!
  5. Not really looking for trades thanks, unless someone has a lightweight Mapleglo 4003S or a non-sunburst Fender American Pro ii P Bass.
  6. Well I wasn't sure how long this one would last. It's just a bit too hifi for me and the electronics are really beyond my limited abilities. Its a 2003 Music Man Bongo HH in Lava Pearl, which is an amazing colour. It was built in October 2003 and the Bongo model was launched in March 2003, so it's an early one. It comes with the original hard case too. It also comes with a custom made £50 clear pickguard in case you don't want to cover up the gorgeous colour! This bass is in unbelievable condition considering it's age and I am struggling to find a mark on it. Even the usual tip scuff is tiny, so it's been well looked after. It weighs just under 9lbs too. You'd really struggle to find one in as good condition for the age. It has been restrung and set up recently with a lovely low action and plays beautifully. I'm looking for £1,200 inc. delivery. Trade-wise I'd be interested in a lightweight (9lbs or under) 4003S or a non-sunburst Fender American Pro ii P Bass.
  7. Thanks chaps. It's a super bass and I wouldn't be too broken-hearted if it took a while to shift
  8. I've not had this long but in truth I'm struggling a bit with the shorter scale. It's a gorgeous Fender JMJ Mustang in black, complete with gig bag, all accessories, unfitted black pickguard, tags, original packaging and two sets of upgraded strings (a proper size set of La Bella Deep Talkin flats- not the long scale Fender flats that were fitted at the factory, and a new set of D'Addario nickel roundwounds that are currently fitted). I'll put some more photos up shortly but it really is in super condition and plays beautifully. Yours for £800 inc. delivery.
  9. The best purchase is difficult and I'd struggle to choose between my SR5 Special and my G&L CLF L-2000. The worst isn't really a "worst" as such, more "biggest disappointment" but I picked up a lime green Charvel Sam Dimas PJ Bass that was so prohibitively heavy I simply couldn't use it. Such a shame as it was an excellent bass with brilliant build quality. I also bought an Ampeg PF-800 head which is a wild departure from my usual Mark Bass. It's built like a tank and sounds brilliant, just not sure I've particularly gelled with it yet. The pleasant surprise purchase of the year was my Laney Digbeth Preamp pedal. My expectations were low to say the least but I couldn't have been more wrong. It's a wonderful bit of kit and I couldn't recommend them highly enough.
  10. I'm very impressed with it. There are a lot of useable sounds from it and I find it a lot more organic sounding than a number of other similar pedals. I use it as an on/off pedal depending on the sounds I want and both channels (the eq and tube) stand up strongly independently.
  11. Funnily enough, mine had the same rattle. I opened it up and it turned out to be a bit of a washer or similar (possibly dry lump of solder- I can't remember) that had broken off something. After investigating I couldn't work out where it had come from but the pedal has performed faultlessly ever since and appears to be built like a tank.
  12. Mine arrived yesterday and after putting a set of flats on it, I must say I love it. It's got a very different vibe to my Fender JMJ and despite both being short scale they really are poles apart (in a good way). Out of interest, has anyone found a suitable case/gigbag for theirs yet?
  13. Shifts will definitely be a reality. From memory when my wife worked for the police, it was 2 early shifts, 2 late, 2 nights followed by 4 days off. It was pretty-much set in stone at least 12 months in advance, so diary management wasn't too much of an issue.
  14. I'm by no means a massive Bowie fan or aficionado and would never profess to be. I just really like that album and loved the playing on it. Horses for courses I guess but as a "greatest hits" kinda guy, it works for me
  15. I love Carmine Rojas' playing on the Let's Dance album. To me that's ultimate Bowie Bass playing.
  16. Nice Marc. I don't know much about these. Do you just add boiling water?
  17. Brilliant cabs. If I wasn't all stocked (stacked?) up I'd take this in a heartbeat. An equally fabulous seller too. GLWTS Nik.
  18. Excel 👍 speaking as an accountant that is...
  19. Very late to this thread but another thumbs up for TI's. I recently came within an hour of buying a new 4003S but decided to go for the Bongo at the last minute. I was that close to buying one, I even ordered a black replacement Truss Rod cover that arrived today. That'll teach me for being efficient...and fickle.
  20. Hey, it's me. There's no way it's going to take 5 years! I'd set you watch for Tuesday 😂
  21. Sorry, I missed this post. I paid a tiny bit over £1,300 for mine but that was because it was a 2003 model (the date they were launched), was in a colour I really wanted and is in superb condition. I'd say over £1,600 is really toppy personally. I'm totally at a loss re used prices for basses at the moment. They seem to be all over the place and there are a number of times I've physically laughed to see what people are charging for something that is/was pretty much bread and butter in terms of spec/manufacturer. Brexit/cost of wood/transport etc. all seem to be legitimate excuses for people to try it on IMHO. That said, a lot of them seem to sell!
