  1. Hi Dave I hope you're well. I'd go for either a regular size Strat or Tele personally. Alternatively something like an Epiphone SG due to the smaller body. You're not that small, so I really wouldn't worry about Squier/Fender necks being too broad for you considering they're very often recommended for young adults to start on. As a Shadows fan, I could see you with a Red Strat
  2. For sale is a Badass II Bass bridge with unslotted saddles although the previous owner has but some very shallow notches for the strings in the saddles which could either be cut deeper or recut entirely depending on your preferred string spacing. This is the type that fits older style bridges with the five bridge screws (non-through body). I'll put pics up shortly but it really is in great condition with minimal wear. Yours for £70 inc. postage
  3. Gorgeous basses and the Burnt Apple finish is amazing in the flesh.
  4. These are my naturals which is my favourite finish on guitars. Not included is my main gigging P Bass in black and my Mystic Surf Green P Bass. From left to right: - Fender USA Standard Strat - Martin D18 - Music Man Stingray Special 5'er - Fender Japan Fretless with custom body - G&L CLF L-2000
  5. I sold a blue 4003S to Paul Gray from The Damned a couple of years ago. He was using it as a back up for his original blue 4001. Nice guy.
  6. I had one of these a few years ago. They're lovely little basses. At £800 for one in spotless condition, I'd say that was a good buy and you should definitely get your money back on that if you decided to sell it.
  7. believe me, there are some dragons in Flax Bourton. I've met them!
  8. It's a Jaydee of some description, I think. It looks very similar to one of these to me:
  9. I'm going to give this one last bump and if there are no takers it'll be put back in my guitar rack. I mean; who doesn't need a P with flats and one with rounds, right?!
  10. I'd look at the recent Charvel San Dimas basses too. The built quality is excellent and the DiMarzio pickups are really very good. They're a great price as well.
  11. I used to be a big fan of sunburst but recently have gone off it a bit. I'm a big fan of natural finishes but am partial to the old Fender DuPont colours. I definitely find Fender's recent sunburst to be quite uninspiring and bland and definitely prefer the more vivid 70's sunburst, where the red has bled through a bit.
  12. And here it is with my other basses. The green P Bass is currently up for sale as I really don't need it, but the more I play it the more I am having doubts...
  13. My black P Bass is the same for me Mart. My family chipped in and each gave me some money towards it, including my Grandad who passed away not too long afterwards. It's the only Bass I own that I could never part with. It's not worth a lot and has definitely seen some action, but I don't have to think about anything when I play it. It's an extension of me now and music just sort of happens.
  14. I've got some guitar and bass strings and a Telecaster wiring loom I'd be happy to send over. There are some spare control knobs too. In fact, let me go through my spare parts drawer and make up a care package. If you pm me your address I'll get cracking.
  15. my wife refuses to buy me/give me money towards presents if it's a guitar/bass as she knows that a few months down the line it's likely to have gone!
  16. I'm claiming mitigating circumstances here! If my wife hadn't forcibly twisted my arm I'd never have bought it. It was the decent thing to do and I was clearly only thinking of her feelings....ahem. In truth I think before she'd actually got the words out I'd already phoned them to pay for it. I'm never one to look a gift horse in the mouth.
  17. Thanks chaps I always find some basses/brands lend themselves better to being either 4 or 5 strings and (for example) have always preferred Fenders as 4 strings but Stingrays as 5. My experience to date had always been G&L 5 strings, so trying a 4 string has been a revelation for me and I much prefer them that way.
  18. I used to talk to Si quite a lot about saxes, bless him
  19. It's a Baritone Sax. I've used it quite a lot with a band I occasionally dep with. Their singer is a big fan of Los Lobos who also use a Baritone Sax a lot to augment their bass lines. It works really well: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jm-4FA7M5yc
