I picked this up for a decent price this week: it's an early 90's Jackson Eliminator in super overall condition considering its age. These weren't made for long, just two years I think and as a result, they're quite rare apparently. It is (I think) the first 24 fret bass I've owned: not that it will cause me much consternation given that I rarely venture past the 14th fret. The active electronics are in good order and the original pickups sound very good too. Here it is alongside my recently acquired Charvel 2B.

I'm wondering if any owners of the Ampeg PF800 could help me out with a question for a friend of mine. He's not a member of Basschat, so I said I'd ask the audience for him He owns an Ampeg PF800 which he really likes but has noticed that when he switches it off at the back, it can take 5-10 seconds for the amp to actually turn off. I've experienced the same with valve amps but never a Class D. Is this something that other PF800 owners have noticed at all?

I had one of these for a while and agree about the build quality. Believe it or not, I actually struggled with a shorter scale and for some reason I had visions of me looking like George Formby playing his Ukulele, but I certainly enjoyed it. All that said, he was a great boxer and we had one of his grills that we used for quite a long time.

Well, as is the way this year, my band where I needed a 5 String has folded. There is no real need for me to play a 5 String elsewhere right now, so I'm putting this one up for sale. It's a 2020 Music Man Stingray Special 5 String that I bought from Andertons for £2,099 about six months ago. It's in immaculate condition (still has the stickers on the back) and comes with the case Candy and original hard case in equally good condition. It's in Aqua Sparkle which is simply stunning and has the factory fitted ebony fingerboard. It weighs 8lbs 14oz but I'd call it 9lbs to be safe and is easily the best 5 String I've played. These Specials really are something else. Im looking for £1,600 plus postage but would be happy to meet near Monmouth if we could work something out safely. I'd consider a px for a Music Man Stingray 2EQ Unlined Fretless if its in good condition and a nice weight, plus cash my way.

I lusted after one of these in the early 90's. We had a guitar shop about half a mile from our school and I used to go in pretty-much twice a week and hang out with the owner, Jonathan. He was a lovely guy and when we used to jam I always made a beeline for the Jack Bass he had on the wall. I'm so tempted....

I have no doubt that it's handmade ...

I've not had this long, but unfortunately I need to get some work done on my Baritone Sax, so this is on the block. For sale is a lovely 1989 Music Man Stingray 2EQ in lack with rosewood board. It was recently set up by the legendary Eltham Jones and restrung with a set of Ernie Ball nickel round wounds. It plays beautifully and weighs 9lbs 2oz which is an very good weight for a Ray of this era. It is all-original apart from the pickguard screws (I have the original rusted ones). It shows a lot of wear and tear on the body (as pictured) but the neck is very good and the frets were recently levelled. I have an old case I can ship this in or I'm happy to meet near Monmouth. In looking for £1,125 inc. shipping. No trades thanks.

For sale is a super little Markbass Little Mark Tube 500w @ 4ohm amp plus original Markbass Gigbag. The amp was made in Italy. Both are in excellent condition and the amp sounds great. I've owned it for a few years as a back up and it's been used at rehearsals but never gigged. Yours for £300 inc. insured postage.

As some of you know, I've started collecting late 80's-early 90's Charvels, Jacksons etc. Well, I picked a gorgeous 1988 Charvel 2B on Friday. It's a beautiful metallic blue colour and a lovely weight too. Despite all the hairspray and Brut on it, it's cleaned up well and sounds fab. I've managed to snap half of the tone pot shaft off, but other then that it's definitely giggable (should they ever happen again). These Japanese instruments are super quality and because they're still unfashionable, they're very good value for money too.

UP(FF)S- awful at the moment
Old Horse Murphy replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in General Discussion
Well, there was a surprise knock at the door this morning with a rather hassled looking UPS driver and my guitar. Apparently, the guitar had been loaded on to a contractor driver's van for delivery about a week ago (because they're so busy they've been using contractors to assist). The contractor had basically neglected to deliver anything in the area, so the poor regular driver was having to work Saturdays to make good all the deliveries. The driver couldn't have been nicer or more apologetic: he was totally blameless for any of the issues but it was great customer service from him.
