  1. Very nice Mart. Is it like the model Caprice though and the older it gets the younger it says it is? In 20 years time will it be a Musicman Caprice 2029?
  2. For sale is a gorgeous Japanese Charvel 2B Bass from 1988. Overall condition is very good for a 30 year old bass but there are a few paint chips that I've photographed. It plays beautifully and sounds great too. Weight is under 9lbs with a poplar body. Build quality is superb The 20th fret could do with a bit of levelling as there is some buzz on the A and D string and I have priced this accordingly. These are pretty rare now and I happen to have a couple I'm looking for £200 and it can be picked up from either Monmouth or Bristol. Happy to post too.
  3. For sale is an absolutely superb 1990's DeArmond Starfire Short-scale Bass in vintage sunburst. It's in absolutely super clean condition and is currently fitted with flats. The action is superbly low and it plays beautifully. It doesn't come with a case but it can supply a gigbag to ship it in if necessary. These are super basses and are lightweight (just under 8 and a half pounds) and the scale is a comfortable 30.75" It has US made DeArmond 2B Dual-coil humbucking pickup and comes with a set neck. I'm looking for £375. This can be picked up from either Monmouth or Bristol or posted for cost.
  4. For sale is a genuine black MM SR5 HH Pickguard in very good condition (there are cleaning swirls but no chips or breaks). Yours for £35 inc. delivery
  5. For sale is a lovely 1987 Fernandes PJ-45 32" scale bass. It's made in Japan, an alder body with rosewood fingerboard and weighs in at under 8lbs due to the undersized body. It's plays beautifully and has a lovely quick neck. Condition-wise it's excellent with very few marks, especially considering it's white! There is a small patch of discolouration on the back of the neck that I've tried to photo. The only thing really to mention is that originally the electrics should have been VVT. For some reason however both volumes seem to act as master volumes rather than independently. I think a previous owner may have got his wires crossed (boom boom) but haven't attempted to remedy it as it sounds fab as it is. These are pretty rare and don't come up often, especially in this condition. Im looking for £180 and will include a studded leather strap
  6. I'm very close to Monmouth and work in Bristol. Happy to meet somewhere too
  7. My favourite cab that I've owned by far. My 2 x CN112's come close, but I still prefer these. Sigh...
  8. Thanks mate. The more I play it the less sure I am about selling it. Those pickups sound immense!
  9. It’s strung with Fender stainless flatwounds currently and there’s no issue at all. I think if you wanted to replace them with (say) tapewounds such as Fender, as they have a steel core, again there should be no issue at all. Cheers
  10. For sale is a lovely 2008 Fender Japan Geddy Lee Jazz bass in super condition overall (a few marks as pictured ) and a very small nick in the pickguard. Considering it’s 10 years old though and a black bass, it’s in really great shape! I understand this is the first version of the Geddy that was produced and comes with a factory fitted Badass 2 Bridge and a new set of TI Flats fitted. All electrics are original from looking at it all. It plays beautifully and weighs just a touch over 9lbs. It also comes with a non-original gigbag and a quality black WD Music black pickguard I’m looking for £735 picked up from either Bristol or Monmouth but am happy to post at cost.
  11. Hi Mac. I’d guess at just over 8lbs. It’s comparable to my PBass that weighs a touch under 8 and a quarter pounds
  12. Thanks for the offers. I’m really not looking for trades in this one I’m afraid
  13. For sale is a relatively rare and rather unusual Italia Mondial Semi-acoustic bass, with a great big humbucker and a piezo pickup too. The humbucker is really gutsy and deep and the piezo (probably my favourite sound) is really woody and adds a very nice acoustic-like tone to the bass. It has two separate outputs for both pickups which is quite a unique feature and is similar in construction to the old Airline type guitars. It has a lovely woody sound when played through the piezo. It’s 34” scale Overall it’s in great condition apart from a few polish swirls and marks that I’ve tried to photograph (nothing through the finish though). It comes with a gigbag and is strung with Fender flats. The colour is more of a creamy/yellow than pictured. It’s great fun to play and is very different. I’m looking for £325 plus delivery.
  14. For sale is a Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive ieve pedal in very good nick apart from a few paint chips (pictured). Yiura for £40 inc. postage.
  15. For sale is a Line 6 Lowdown LD15 8” 15 watt practice amp with didigtal amp modelling. It’s in super condition but a bit dusty. I took this in a trade recently and it sounds very good for what it is. It’s ideal for a bit of spare room noodling Yours for £50 picked up from Bristol or Monmouth
  16. It definitely makes a difference tonally and arguably it evens the strings out. It definitely tightens up the e string sound
  17. Barry is still going strong, but is now based in Bagshot, mostly as a distributor and dealing with online sales. I popped in there a few years ago and had a great chat with him. He said they the Bass Centre simply couldn’t compete with online stores so changed their business model. We talked about the Bass Centre range and he told me about working with Bill Wyman when they built his Tribute Bass. As you can imagine, it was quite a story I told him one of my Bass Centre stories which seemed to please him (“I love hearing people’s Bass Centre stories”) and as we parted he gave me a free set of Elites Flatwounds...lovely guy
  18. Never tried a Hamer but I’ve heard consistently good things about them. I did always fancy a Kramer Ferrington to mess around with
  19. Another pointy addition I’m afraid. This time it’s a 1988 Charvel 2B in metallic red (not seen one before in that finish that I can recall). Again, for a superbly built instrument from Japan, I’m astounded how little these cost to pick up (cheaper than most Chinese Squiers and Epiphones I’ve seen for sale recently). Apart from a few chips and needing a good setup and clean, it’s a lovely bass with a super neck. Sounds fantastic too.
