1. Well these Lulls are addictive. I'm having a clear out to make was for my new one. It's a Lull V4 Jazz and as always the craftsmanship is out of this world.
2. Well, I've caught the Lull bug somewhat, so am putting my Jazz up to see if anyone is interested. It's a 2015 Fender American Vintage 64 FSR Reissue in Daphne Blue with matching headstock. It comes with all the case candy, original white pickguard plus the Tortoise shell Celluloid pickguard (that cost an arm and a leg) I bought. It's currently strung with La Bella Deep Talkin Flats and was set up recently (there is no case though but I will buy a gig bag if it needs to be posted). It's in super condition with no dings or marks that I can see (remarkable considering it's a nitro finish!) and has had a very easy life so far. Weight-wise I'd say no more than 8.5lbs. These are currently selling for £1,500. I'm looking for £1,200 for mine and it can be posted or picked up from Bristol (weekdays) or Woking (weekends). No trades please
3.
Flats?
Absolutely it's currently got La Bella Flats on it but the E and A strings sound a bit too thuddy to my ears. I'll get some TI's on it ASAP
4. I recently got this superb bass in a trade with our very own Hazbeen, but unfortunately my need for a 5 Stringer is no more and my preference for passive basses has won again For sale is a 2012 G&L M2500 (not a Tribute model) in limited edition Black Ice (part of G&L's NENA, or Near Naked paint finish. The bass was factory ordered with a Birdseye Maple FIngerboard (with an additional 21st Fret), a Carbon trussrod to improve both sustain and neck stability/no deadspots. Despite the thin finish on the body, the bass is in excellent condition an in fact the only mark I can see is near the trussrod access hole at the headstock end where the trussrod tool has left some very small indentations. It is light weight (I'd estimate around 8.5lbs) and has a superb B String. It really is a quality bass and very eye-catching. It can be picked up from either Bristol (weekdays) or Woking (weekends). I'm looking for £850. No trades please Some info from G&L: G&L has unveiled a new line of instruments labeled the "Black Ice Collection". The new basses and guitars feature a "Black Ice" finish, which incorporates the company's Nearly Naked (NENA) finish with a sleek matte black base and silver highlights in the body's wood grain. Introduced last year, NENA is a super thin finish the company says promotes body resonance. The instruments come without a pickguard in order to show more of the body. 5.
Not had a chance to plug it in yet. I'll remedy that this weekend
And it sounds wonderful
6.
Very cool looking bass! But how does it sound? Si
Not had a chance to plug it in yet. I'll remedy that this weekend
7.
Lull pups surely, not Gibson?
Correct. Badly worded on my part and now edited
8. I've just picked up a mint condition Mike Lull PT4 which is basically a P Bass with Mike Lull Gibson Thunderbird-style pickups. I was fortunate enough to own a Mike Lull Jazz bass for a while and forgot just how amazing the build quality is. They are absolutely perfectly put together and the quality of the parts is amazing. This is Mahogany bodies with a lovely orangey brown tint to it. It weighs in around 9lbs but if anything feels lighter. Very happy apologies for the awful pics. I'll take some better ones shortly
9. Probably my millionth deal with Simon now, but equally as smooth and pleasant as all the others. Highly recommended as always
10. I didn't think I would be doing this in a hurry, but things change I guess and so... For sale is a 1988 Musicman Stingray (post-Ernie Ball with 4 bolt neck, truss rod access at the headstock, bridge with mutes etc) in Red. I have been told by a rather knowledgeable member on Talkbass that this was a Special Colour and is indeed quite rare. It's certainly not a refinish and indeed, the neck is stamped "Red". All the electrics are original and all the dates on the body, neck and electrics are pretty close otgether, so this isn't a bitsa. The bass weighs in at approx. 9lbs and has a lovely low action and has recently been set up. The pickguard is a genuine MM replacement but the original black one is included too (although a little warped). It's by no means pristine and has a number of marks on it (chips, a few dings, rusted pickguard screws and some buckle rash on the back of the body) but it's all commensurate with a bass of this age that's been well used but not abused. The mute pads are ones I put on there, so aren't original. This is a somewhat reluctant sale but is unlikely to be used for a while. I'm looking for £900. There is no case, but it will be well wrapped if delivery is required (I'd purchase a reasonable quality gigbag too). I'd also consider a trade with a new Series Fender American Vintage Bass It can be picked up from either Woking (weekends) or Bristol (weekdays). 11. Well, after recording and gigging through Ampeg gear several occasions over th least month or so, I decided to throw a bit of caution to the wind and embrace the heavy! After trying out and pricing up an Ampeg SVT CL Heritage and 810e can in a guitar shop in Bristol, I was sure it was the right amp for me. However, Price-wise there was absolutely no way I could justify spending over £3k! This weekend I found a U.S made SVT CL and matching US made SVT810E and decided to chance my arm. Well, it's as heavy as I feared it would be but fits in the car perfectly. Once it's unloaded though, it's actually very easy to manoeuvre and while I'm young and strong enough, I'm happy to endure the additional pain and weight for the sound it gives me. And what a sound it is! I all honesty, I'm probably going to move the 810 on and either go for a 410 or maybe the Ampeg 212. Both still beasts, but a little smaller. Happy for now at least, but the the wife hasn't seen it yet
12. Not entirely sure I want to do this but I have a massive hankering for Valves at the moment, even if my back doesn't. As a result, I selling my Markbass Tube 800, complete with Markbass padded amp bag (both I excellent condition and very well looked after). I'm looking for £375 inc postage. It can also be picked up from either Woking (weekends) or Bristol (weekdays).
13. This in my little lot; a Fender AV Reissue 64 Jazz in Daphne Blue, a 2013 Musicman Stingray in Transparent Gold (possibly swapping the neck over for a Fretless one), my 1989 Fender US P Bass, a newly acquired 2012 G&L US M2500 in a limited edition Black Ice finish (remarkable bass and easily the best B String I've played on either a 34" or 35" scale!) and a 1988 Musicman Stingray (my main squeeze currently). All of these are played through a Markbass Tube 800 and Bergantino CN212. This has been my main rig for a number of years now and although I have no intention of changing, I recently gigged and recorded through a lovely Ampeg Valve rig and it'd go my GAS fired up again
14. Mark recently bought a Fender case from me which was an easy deal seeing as he only lives about 5 minutes from me A great guy who has an interesting taste in guitarists! Highly recommended. One of the good guys
15. I just completed a trade for Harry's gorgeous G&L M2500 for my Fender P Bass. The deal couldn't have gone any smoother and I am delighted with the bass. He certainly is a bass packaging extraordinaire and I imagine Holland now has a national shortage of Bubblewrap Highly recommended on every level
16. I have a copy that was given to me by John Entwistle, who in turn had been given it by Sting. Unfortunately I can't prove this but it's 100% true. I'm willing to let it got to a Basschat member for £600 inc postage
17. I've recently acquired a gorgeous 2013 Stingray but am considering seeing whether anyone would be interested in trading necks (my fretted for your fretless). The neck is from 2013 and is in tip top condition apart from one tiny ding at the top of the headstock. Other than that, it's very clean and smooth and has been waxed with gunstock wax regularly to keep it as new. The frets are in great nick with very little wear. I'm looking for a lined or unlined fretless neck in similar condition.
18. For sale is a genuine USA Musicman Stingray 4 pickup (not Sub or Sterling, but a full-fat US Stingray) that was removed from a 2013 Stingray 4 (replaced with a Nordstrand). It's in perfect condition and sounds like only a Stingray can. I'm looking for £65 inc. P&P.
19. I bought Will's Stingray yesterday and he was good enough to meet me at short notice so I could pick the bass up. It's better than described and I am very happy with it. He's a great guy to deal with too
